This is one of the best videos you've done. It's reminded me to start simple and build from there. I've been too hasty, importing tactics from FM15 etc and expecting them to work straight away on a completely different set of players in a different league facing different opposition tactics. Bound to fail! New save started today, beginning again from square one.

Thanks...i was worried it was too simple

Great reminder to go back to basics sometimes. I'm definitely guilty of complicating tactics beyond my understanding and losing form because of it. Cheers.

Yeah, most of my own 442s are really basic with PIs, its with the roles that I try to be more creative with

Would you recommend leaving the duty setting to Automatic on the roles, for someone who is a beginner/poor at the game? Sort of...letting the game do things instead of the player, regarding the attack and defense settings.
@BusttheNet7 жыл бұрын
I would recommend understanding how to use it properly, which is what I will do in the next video. Automatic duty simply makes a few players match team mentality. Basically if you are the sort that likes some people to go up and attack just using the mentality slider then by all means use that. I however usually prefer to be more specific. For most people starting out, choosing a player to do his own thing basically means don't set any PIs. In most cases if you want them to support attack and defence, then pick support.

Nice video! My takeaway is Keep it Simple. And, thank you for clarifying team shape. I am someone who prefers his teams to maintain their shape so a structured system fits my management style.

Hello! I want to ask you which player roles can use in different mentality ?
@benneah8395 жыл бұрын
Your videos really helped because I knew the roles and shape I wanted to play but with certain mentalitys I could not create spaces for my players to attack and my fullbacks would leave gaps between them and cb and if the move forward left big holes to be exploited when ai countered especially against good teams
@BusttheNet5 жыл бұрын
How is it now?
@benneah8395 жыл бұрын
@@BusttheNet there's better movement in players and better passing lanes and option and my defenders are not forcing pass up field when that's not what I wanted to do
@BusttheNet5 жыл бұрын
@@benneah839 very good. Mentality is a good way to handle risk in the game. You can actually influence risk with play short and play less risky, by using them as PIs for more attacking mentalities.

Do u think wenger and pellegrini will fall under these categories?

when I got fm15 when I was 10 it was so easy u didn't need PIs or TIs or mainly bcuz I didn't care about them. but in FM16 it was a lot more difficult bcuz of the changes and AI improvement. around mid fm16 I found out about ur website and I was baffled Cuz I had never read anything like it before but it give me a lot of info about FM that I never noticed. then I become addicted to addicted to FM and I read every single page of ours. but I only watching our channel at fm17 and I have almost all ur videos since and I can go on unbeaten streaks like u at 12 years old

I have this serious problem, I always start strongly and then collapse! It happened with Tottenham, Arsenal, and now Nottingham Forest... I don't know why! I use an attacking mentality when I play with 4-2-3-1 and counter when using the 4-1-2-3! It just keeps happening, it really does bother!! Any pieces of advice?
@BusttheNet7 жыл бұрын
Here you need to see how your attacking mentality is affecting your ability to defend the flanks. I would guess that you are giving up a lot on the flanks and your players are not closing down effectively. To begin I would drop to a control mentality. With the 4132 I would not play with Play out of defence either to avoid us building up play too slowly.

Do you play the whole game or highlights?
@HIM31534 жыл бұрын
When analysing or creating a new tactic use either whole game or comprehensive highlights. It will help to show you more details about how you are playing.

I love your videos. I find them to be very useful in trying to understand the game better Question: What's the best level of football to try experimenting with tactics like this? If you think about English football for instance? My most recent experience was being the manager of Carlisle United in Football Manager 2017. One of the big problems I had was that my players were highly inconsistent. I could be wrong but the lower the league you are in the more inconsistent players are. So I wondered if that would be an issue in learning to use the tactics better or not?
@BusttheNet7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would. Generally understanding the creator isn't hard, but if one were to start from zero base, then a decent team would be advisable. Here you limit how attributes affect your side so you can concentrate on trying different things out with the TC. The further down you go, the harder it is to isolate whether its the tactic or the player
