Best thing about living on an island is we have kept COVID out fairly well

Beautiful island. Nice video, hope you're all well. Do you know if the TT is on this year? If it is does it affect you?
@sandersfarmvids4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. No TT again this year. We have land either side of the course so is a bit of a pain. Not really into watching it as it always clashes with silaging!

Some new content 👍 you guys have quite the unique situation there on the island. All the lumber has to come from mainland?

Fence posts all come from the island but all the big timber is imported

Hi a quick for you, do you think the slurry separator reduces the weed seed burden going back out on the land or is it just a tool to help with winter storage by separating out the solid part from the liquid? You showed that up have to pump uphill, therefore does it help there by reducing the viscosity of the liquid there by easier to pump? Thanks

We mainly separate to make green bedding for the cows. It’s free! The separated dirty water is very easy to pump as there is no risk of any blockages and we also can pump it with an electric pump to one of our satellite pits. The solid muck is also really easy to spread. Wouldn’t like to say if weed spreading has reduced but I don’t think the dirty water from our screw press spreads docks like the older standard separator we used to have

Thanks for getting back. That is some scenery in your fert clip is something. Definitely a nice place to work. We have to add IOM to the bucket list.

Hi, can I ask how you like the Schaffer compared to the Wiedemann.?
@sandersfarmvids3 жыл бұрын
Weidemann has by far the best joystick and hydraulics you will get on a handler but headstock is weak and is uncomfortable to drive on uneven ground because it oscillates at the pivot. Cab is small and not somewhere you’d want to spend a day. Due to having a diff you can turn on when you need it it’s very easy on Tyres compared to the Schaffer which chews them up for fun Schaffer is built like a tank but hydraulics are slow and joystick is not very precise and it’s bloody hard on your arm if you spend a long time on it. If you get one spec it with a proportional joystick and an air seat! Cab is nice and big and is comfier to travel in as the rear axle oscillates. It can push anything though. Both have there faults ( parts are German so very expensive) and if you have big enough sheds buy a jcb 320!

@@sandersfarmvids thank you so much for the reply, very mu h appreciated. Hmmm... Food for thought, I'll be in the second hand market, can't justify new prices unfortunately for my farm size. 320 was my first on wish list but thought wiedemann looked a good machine and might be a bit kinda to my pocket than the 320.

None of these handlers are cheap anymore and are very hard to find good examples 2nd hand due to not a vast amount being sold. Most will be on dairy farms where they will stay for a long time
