For making mashed potatoes, before turning your mixer on, add the butter and salt and take the mixer and sorta mash the potatoes down then turn it on and mash them up before adding milk. Then add milk just some of it at a time until you have the consistency you like. I hope this makes sense and helps. 😁

We started hand washing our dishes right away instead of using the dish washer and people think we're crazy for it too. It's so much quicker though! It really only takes an extra 2 seconds to wash it with soap. & then it's so nice to have a tidy kitchen rather than dealing with piles of dirty dishes and a big mess later on.

I am addicted to my dishwasher but you are right. One Thanksgiving, when we had overnight guests, my dishwasher broke. I thought it would be a disaster. Actually, it turned out that I cleaned the dishes immediately, dried and put them away. The kitchen was clean right away and stayed that way.

Another great video. Love to watch you do everything you do. Your sister Lisa and you have so much energy. I thought I was energetic back in the day at your age but I’m pretty sure you two surpass what I used to do. You’re both great cooks. However, not sure that my kids would have eaten two big meals a day like yours do. Usually sandwiches and fruit for lunch and then a big meal for dinner at 5 or 6pm. Keep up the great work. You’re awesome.

Viene molto buono, soffice e saporito

Do you ever take a daytime rest? Why you shouldn’t use a mixer for mashed potatoes. Just too easy to overmix. The starch cells in the potato break down and you get a mushy or runny texture. My personal favorite tool for creamy mashed Idaho russets is to use a ricer for a smooth potato look that still has some texture and a little dryness.

I'm with you, rather just do the dishes as I go, easy clean up. I despise putting away dishes from a dishwasher, seems to me harder but I know most people love them. Mash the potatoes before adding the milk, it won't splash as badly.

Just because an egg floats it does NOT mean it is spoiled. Egg shells are porous, and over time the air leaks out and sort of dehydrates the yolk and white a little. At the same time, an air pocket forms, and that makes the egg float. If an egg floats, it only means that there is a good possibility it is "old." It may still be just fine. The only way to know is to crack the egg into a bowl and check it by eye and by smell. Which is what you should do with all farm fresh eggs anyway--never put them directly into a recipe without first cracking each egg into a bowl. They are rarely bad, but when they are, you will be grateful to have the knowledge before it goes into your recipe!

I grew up on mashed potatoes and have made them for at least fifty years . Here’s how I was taught to do it . Your cutting an boiling all look fine , but use your beaters before turning the beater on and mash them up a bit then turn your beater on about med and mix until mostly mashed before you add warmed milk a bit at a time until it’s the consistency you like then to finish whip on high to fluff them . Dump browned butter over them and serve 😊

When you make your mashed potatoes if you kind of use the mixer to break down the bigger chunks of potato before you turn it on you’ll have less that fly out of the bowl. Then add your milk a little bit at a time while you’re mixing. Your mixer appears to be working fine. Hope that helps. 💕
@kellyy8114

I agree I only add butter and salt to the potatoes to start, I never add milk until my potatoes are already mashed and no lumps. My dad was one that hated lumpy mashed potatoes 😂. We found it's harder to get them smooth after you add milk. Also, I take the mixer and just start pressing down on the chunks with the beaters to break down the big chunks of potato BEFORE I turn the mixer on. That helps that they don't fly around as much when you first start mixing. Hope that helps. I appreciate you and your channel! 😊

I have been hand washing my dishes for 2 years now. The dishwasher ended up leaking and caused so much damage. I told my husband to not bring it back in the house after we fix the floor. I feel as though it is faster hand washing everything. I can wash and dry and put everything away in less then 20 minutes.

That was a lot! Good for you! Looks like you get in trouble when the potatoes start to move to the side of the bowl. Just keep bringing them back to the center before you let the blade hit them. You might like a hand masher to get you started so that the potatoes are semi mashed before you use the mixer. Glad the little one is feeling better.

O M G. Thank you thank you! Ants in our new apt kept going to my butter. I been almost my whole life have butter in covered dish on counter and nothing goes wrong with it.ANYWAY I did your spray and no more ants so far. But only had peppermint, tea tree & lemongrass essential oils and sweetie it’s working. Now a very long time ago ants used to get in my black eyed peas and old farmer said use orange, lemon & grapefruit peels around them and yes no ants there either. Depends on how smooth we want them, if we use a mixer of not 😊 I sometimes want chunky red skinned potatoes and those I just kind of toss those more and let then break apart with butter, sour cream, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and a little cream, then spices.😊 I've used a masher too. What you call a potato masher I use for more than potatoes, lol.

Mash your potatoes first then add the rest of the ingredients. You can just use the mixer in the off position. It’s the big chunks of potato that’s throwing the milk around. Good luck. I was just trying to find a same day sourdough recipes. I don’t have a bread machine but I’m going to try it in just the over. I do have a mixer with a dough hook so that’s how I’ll mix the dough. Thanks.

I have the same problem with making mashed potatoes with a hand mixer. The lowest speed setting is still too fast and it splatters potatoes everywhere! I finally used the instant pot last time. Cut up and cooked the potatoes for 8 min, and when I mashed them the instant pot is deep enough that it kept the potatoes contained.😅

I definitely think you need to rinse and put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher right away after every meal. I can’t stand a mess in the kitchen. I usually wash everything by hand except our plates( since they are Corels we have enough for 2 meals as a family of 10), cups, baby bottles and ustensils. This way, you aren’t looking for that one spatula you use for every meal ;) haha My problem for not washing everything by hand is the lack of counter space to let it dry and let’s face it, drying dishes isn’t as much fun as washing it. Haha Pax et bonum!
