I still don't see the disrespect unless Butch has an ego that does not tolerate anyone he sees as a subordinate can't play the organ after him at a public forum. I don't think that was the case, and I pray that I am right....ijs

Doc, what are you thinking when you jumped right on? You got on so quick that you almost knocked him off. The people hung around to see why you were in such a hurry to get on. You could have went sight seeing, you could have visited one of the other booths and purchased one of those shiny suits with the long coat with 10 buttons to prepare for evening service, but don't jump on the organ immediately after a legend. This was several years ago and I'm still in my house with the shades drawn cringing because the organ just went to sleep. The run didn't work, Twinkie Clark's "Expect A Miracle" didn't work, the run you did after that didn't work either. Word has it that you're an awesome musician now and I commend you for it, this was just a lesson well learned.

But because he doesn’t have a huge name for himself yet it’s a problem. The only way you can get to that level is by criticism from other greats. Much respect to the legend Butch Heyward who I feel is the original architect of the Brooklyn sound of gospel. As for the second guy, I don't feel there was a right or wrong in him jumping on like he did, it was more of a bold move because of the way he jumped on. It looked weird in that after he got on the organ, what he did was less than ordinary. As a musician myself you never want to put yourself in the position of following someone who played great and not come with something hot yourself. At that point it wasn't practice time.. lol. Just saying. But my prayers is that God does anoint his fingers so that he wouldn't put himself in that kind of position again if he's going to be that bold. God bless him, he tried.

Why do we have to kill our young people? Yes...Butch is a legend but he also had to learn and was probably anxious to display his talent at one time. Geesh...I gues only a select few can grace the instruments. I grew up with the Powell brothers. I remember when Kevin was learning how to play the organ. No one is perfect.
