First time that I got this cut from Butcher Box. I followed your method with my smoker and it came out great! Tender and juicy, perfect flavor. Thank you and thank you BB.

I just got my first box last week. The NY strips were to die for! I thought my sirloin cap was a little small, but I'm just serving my husband and I. I was going to make this like Guga Foods does, but you've convinced me to do this whole. Great review!

why did you do fat cap up?
@StokedOnSmoke4 жыл бұрын
I think next time I cook one I'm going to try fat cap down and also smoke at an even lower heat to try and keep it as rare as possible before the finishing sear. I might try cooking one sous vide too. But yeah...most cooks you see fat cap down to help protect the meat from the heat source. Is that what you normally do?

Damn shame they shaved off most of that cap. I generally like to cut my picanha in to 1 inch steaks before cooking. 👍

Butcher Box over butchers everything. I prefer to have full fat and bone in for tallow and bone broth.

I just placed my first order and i will be honest, all of your meats look Amazing and also they are bigger. Your ribeye and ny strip steak i got that too. Mine are much smaller. I took my sirloin cap out to defrost and i just took it out of the package and mine again, smaller than u yours and yours is nice and red and the fat back is much less. Half of my meat is fat. A huge thick slab of fat. I’m really not impressed. I get it, they sent u free meats to post a video and OF COURSE you’ll get the very best they have so you’re giving them free advertising and promoting them.

My brother-in-law suggested this. Why do people buy this overpriced frozen crap? Take 20 minutes and search online for a local butcher. For the price of the 9-14 lb box you can easily get 30 lbs from a butcher. Take that 150 a month and put it back and in 12 months you could literally buy half a cow, a whole pig and about 20 chickens...including processing to your liking.

Why .....Because there's an idiot born every minute. Just listen to their marketing that hits all the buttons for the ignorant "Grass Fed Beef" "Heritage Breed Pork" (whatever the fuck that means) and of course ...... "Free-Range Chicken"
@EpicConspiracy5 жыл бұрын
for the $149 custom box in ohio my area going to the butcher prices come in at $135 and they are not grass fed. Well worth using butcher box IMO. Not to mention you get 2 lbs of gound beef for free which makes it slightly cheaper than going to the local butcher when you add it all together.
@ELl_e..35 жыл бұрын
I'm not into pork and free range chicken can technically mean just about anything, not to mention grain feeding or gmo corn is NO good for chicken. BUT, when you live in a place that's difficult to find different cuts of grass fed /grass finished beef it IS more worth it. ESPECIALLY when the last time I bought from a local farm I had to go through a long process with a group of people to decide what cuts we wanted, change it when the hanging weight was different than originally expected yadda yadda yadda. This way, I look online, click here and there and boom its at my door in a few days. Different strokes work for different folks. 🤷🏻♀️

Grass fed beef sucks. Don't fall for it ..............
@StokedOnSmoke6 жыл бұрын
Curious what your reasoning behind that is? I've never really eaten much myself, but def notice a much rich flavor.
@PresidentGas16 жыл бұрын
It's much too lean for me. There's very little marbling which is what produces the real flavor IMO. I'm sort of a beef snob and typically stick the USDA Prime cuts. The flavor is off as well in my experience, it cooks differently than corn-fed beef and feels like a generally over-priced marketing scam. Sort of like what spending extra on "organic" produce is. Saying all that .... if it simply tasted as good as a Prime cut I wouldn't have an issue with it .............but it's not even in the same ballpark.
@StokedOnSmoke6 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. Well..so far, the biggest thing I've noticed w/ some of the various cuts of beef from the two boxes I showed in the video is the flavor. I've also cooked the tri-tips and the strip steaks and my first impression on those cuts was that it was definitely a different flavor profile (richer like I said before), but one I'm really liking. There's definitely some nutritional benefits to grass fed over grain fed (leaner like you said, more omega-3s / good fats, etc...), but I'm more after the flavor and it doesn't feel "off" to me like it does to you. To each their own I supposed :) And yeah, you also can't go wrong with a good cut of Prime :)

@@PresidentGas1 grass fed beef is healthier to consume, it's fat is higher in omega 3s which is much better for you than the omega 6 filled normal cow fat. So if you like to eat healthy than grass fed beef is a good choice.
