What a contrast to the Pontins resorts. Bright, clean, and in good condition. Even the chalets look well kept. With the exception of the Marquee.

I have stayed in the Wave and Ocean hotels which are so modern, the decor is fab and the lifts have coloured lights and play disco music! I have never had one bad experience here. Was there earlier this year, May 13-16 for football tournament. Had accommodation in Oyster Bay, they are just rooms and bathroom, and felt quite tired. Much of the site was clean and accessible, apart from the fairground was not open when our football matches had finished, so we couldn’t make use of it. The restaurants and food areas were good, as were the bar areas. If visiting again, would need to choose one of either Wave or Ocean hotels or Atlantic Bay apartments. Oyster Bay was very basic, and the hotel with the seascape carpet, a little young for my lot…..but overall the weekend was great fun with the people on site.

The camp is always at near capacity. If you've had a bad experience at Minehead or Skegness in a chalet but still want the Butlins/Holiday Camp experience I'd stay here at a hotel. I normally stay at the Ocean and the rooms are up to date and clean from my experience. Camp is a bit small I guess but plenty to do for a few days and the food on the dinearound plan isn't too bad either and not bad value when you compare buying all of your meals outside of the resort. Yeah needs a lick of paint here and there but overall mainly positive experiences there all round.

What a difference between Pontins, where the staff obviously dont want you to be there or come back and Butlins where the staff have some pride in their work and want you to come back with your family year after year. I can only imagine this is a feeling generated by the management that has filtered down to the workers. I used to live at Burnham On Sea where the Pontins almost doubled the population during the summer holidays until it fell into disrepair. I then moved to Bognor Regis where the Butlins was so bad the guards on the gate were there to stop people escaping and now, after investment, it is a thriving community.

Used to go to Minehead as a child 40 plus years ago. Went to Bognor last year and stayed in the Ocean with 2 of our grandchildren. The rooms are really nice. Nothing was open including the Bar and the Spar. There was also no housekeeping because of Covid. Because there are only 2 lifts everyone comes at the same time so it takes about an hr to get into your room because of queues. This year we have an extra one and no rooms left to accommodate 5 so had to go for the updated Silver accommodation. Which I'm very concerned about now. It's getting bad reviews at the moment on TripAdvisor. The one thing I will say is the Funfair is still like something from 50s. Plus you need deep pockets for the arcade

Agree with you there the fun fair could do with an update

This looks a much better park...i have a great idea for Butlins...so why not have a RETRO Butlins at one of the parks...Retro everything is so popular...take a trip back to when the entertainment was fun, Retro music, Retro amusements, let people enjoy themselves...

Is there much to do in Bognor off site. Skegness has loads in the town but Minehead was dead.

Hi Tim would love an episode up the road in Worthing, you need to include Cissbury Ring too.

I went to this Butlins a few months ago. It was pretty good. It’s just a shame Bognor Regis itself has very little to offer, but in your other video you missed the park just behind Butlins which is rather nice. The seafront is very dull tho. Of all the Butlins, I think Skegness wins for location because there’s a lot more to do off the park. Minehead and Bognor are places they seemingly chose because there’s not much else to do, although Minehead is pleasant and at least has a sandy beach.

thats the thing, they update it but then its never open, or there all open for about 2 hours where everyone goes to try and actually do something.
