I just did this swap 5.3ls and AX15 with a Quickdraw into a 2008 JKU. I used Ebay motor mounts that bolted to the engine and dropped right in. Everything lined up and I was able to use the old transmission crossmember. I did have mod the trans mount but not much. I'm just working on finish the wiring. It's running just want make the wiring look better. Thank for this swap video and all your hard work.

Great method! I work by myself and need to be creative to get the job done. For this problem, I mounted a winch on the floor of my shop in back of my toolbox. Just roll the toolbox to the side and boom!

Awesome project and great work Dave, and the fact that your going solo is a BIG plus, alot of work and thinking goes into a swap like this. I once stuffed a Buick 3.8 odd fire with a T350 trans into a 77 custom stretched Toyota PU, turned out way better than I though it would and boy did it rock.

I like your adapter for grabbing the transfer case. I once had to R&R a 203 New Process with three guys and a floor jack. We all still have our extremities but will never do it again !

What a great build. 1 suggestion when shutting tourch off please turn ac first. That will keep tourch clean and stop any ac from burning orings in valve body. I learned this building stock trailers in New Mexico. We used tourch alot for lack of plasma tourch. This was in the 80's .

I used to watch you on Dirt every day. I did a SBC swap in my cj7. I should do a LS swap. That's my problem to is getting started on a project, but once I start I get into it. Super great ideas from you and Fred. Something I can relate to.

Exact same swap I'm in the middle of doing. Have an 87 that came with the 4 cylinder and a Peugeot with a few more neuturals than stock. Got a 2003 NV3550 and NP231J from a TJ and using a quickdraw adapter for a junkyard lm7 too. Excited to see how yours goes and definitely lighting a fire under me to get mine done for the summer and enjoy it! Rad videos as always

Holley has a set of motor mounts with poly clamshells brackets for the YJ LS swaps. I’m doing a 4.8 with Nv3500 transmission and 241 case now.

Saw the hydro assist reservoir. I recently did an ls swap in my LJ and was able to re use the same pump with a different pulley. Psc guided me to use goatbuilt bracket, even reused feed hose from reservoir as position was same.

They also make flap disc with a rounded grinding edge so you can grind with the edge of the disc

Awesome Dave! The 4.0 was pretty cool. I'm always kinda of for the under dog though but its hard to go wrong with an LS. When my 2.5L started knocking I decided to go with 5.2L Magnum instead of the LS, I was able to make all my stock gauges in my Tj work with it. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!

i saw the Roadkill episode of this Butter jeep flooding out trying to cross Moab Creek/River Utah. What I remember about that particular program was allegedly how much pleasure Furburgers expressed when Butter Jeep died, my first thought was what an ahole. This episode showed DirtHead Shed David helping David Furburger! I have also seen this same kind of meanness, selfishness, and self-serving, sanctimonious attitude allegedly raise its ugly head on Roadkill Garage, toward Steve Dulich. just discovered Dirthead Shed!
