Dude, I love your videos!!!! You are so relatable. I feel like I'm hanging at your shop watching you do this and your telling me how you're going to do it!!!! I wish I would have seen this video before I bought my first jeep. It was a 1998 TJ with a 4.0 with an automatic. It was lots of fun until my radiator exploded!!!! I have a lot of experience with LS motors, but not so much with Jeeps. At the time I had a 2012 Silverado with a 5.3 with 180,000 miles on it. Body was junk, but scoped the motor and saw good cross hatch on the cylinder walls. Was thinking of dropping it in the TJ just before the radiator exploded. Unfortunately I have a gravel driveway and no garage, or friends with a garage where I could work for a couple of weeks, as I work full time. So I fixed the Jeep to make it driveable and sold it. Still driving the truck. Wish I had a shop or even a garage.

We bought a parted out buggy (3.9 v8 land rover discovery)which was sitting in a paddock for 4 years no bonnet and a hole in the valley gasket . We drained the oil and filled a 20 litre bucket with what consisted of 15 litres of crystal clear water 4 litres of milk shake and 1 litre of what looked like oil 😂😂😂😂. We re built the buggy and didn't touch the motor other than 3 oil changes and new valley gasket runs like a dream and still going strong in 4wd comps 5 years later ha ha ha ha

cat litter engine is going to be fine. Actually participated in a midnight race track endeavor. That was much like that one. Race engine expired, right after qualifying on the pole for mid Ohio. A guy said he had an engine he would give us. But it was buried in a chicken coop for years. We literally dumped a case of brake clean through it. And the crankshaft began to turn, lol. And in the morning, won the race! I didn’t believe we had a freak of a chance the night before

Something special about cleaning off that special 1/2" thick layer of oil + dirt + mystery crud off old junk yard engines. the trick to buying used LS engines is to get one out of a crash/rollover vehicle. I learned the hard way too, bought a cheap one off some guys garage floor it was trashed with worn pushrods at very least. SO next time i got one from part tiume mechanic /part time farmer. He swore engine i got was from a rollover suburban, even had video of it running in wrecked truck. looked the same so i thought it was worth 400usd TLDR it worked great.

Dave, that motor may have Castec 706 heads, which are known to have cracks under the head bolt holes. Look for a casting symbol shaped like a car battery under the rocker arm support. Also, pro tip: If You unscrew the tip off of that spray can, underneath there is a little piston shaped plunger that if You remove it, it will BLAST stuff instead of mist it. Jist save the piece for later.

With that reusable sprayer there is a brass nozzle in the tip that gives it the mist effect, if you remove that you will get a stream equivalent to a straw on a normal aerosol can. Also when you fill it up, if you fill it to the bottom of the contraption inside and fill it full of air you will run out of brake clean before air. Awesome Content keep it up!!

My preferred engine cleaner concoction is diesel fuel with 15% concentrated dish soap in an aerosol-free sprayer. It's less flammable, breaks-down dirt and oil and the soap breaks down the diesel when sprayed with water. Plus, the diesel evaporates a lot slower allowing it to penetrate and clean better. Dave, do you expect the AX15 to hold up to the LS power?

Hi Dave, The speedo on Louisvten is not dependent on tire size/gear ratio. It is calculated using the reluctant wheel on the rear diff next to the ring gear.
