Butterflies & Blackberries

Possibly the most magical walk Ru & I have ever been on .... The camera doesn't do the butterflies justice, it was truly beautiful...
oh and the Pie was pretty special also ...

My Mom use to take that left over dough and roll it back out and cover it with butter, sugar and cinnamon. Then roll it up and cut 1 inch cuts in the roll and cook them with the pie. Us kids loved them.

Butterflies love the color pink, purple, orange (some)and yellow. Think of the color of the flowers they get nectar from. Sit in their fields still and they will come. We used to put sugar nectar water in a red cola cap on our knees and butterflies would land on our laps 🦋

I think lavender need to be planted among other plants. They thrive better. They do like some shade, plant them close to the house against the wall amongst other plants where they will get some shade but mostly sun. I hope this helps and the soil can’t be too dry that’s very important. Jennie you have the patience of angels😊 Great going Rupert ✋💕

I think I may look into it , It was amazing, we had no idea they were there until we walked into that area 😀 the leaves all just took of and fluttered around ... it was just unbelievable, I wish the camera could have caught more detail , 🌙❤

Jen, you must have alot of clay in the soil there ...lavender needs a loose type sandy soil and not too much water to thrive ..a bit of mulch is good too. The pie looks Divine! 😍

I have the best luck starting my lavender in the Spring and in pots, then I plant them amongst my other herbs, like parsley, rosemary, basil, thyme, sage and it does much better. If I fuss over it, it dies, if I try and start it in the garden, it dies.

Oh, how I wish we could have all been there with Mummy Moon, Ru, the doggies, and all of those beautiful butterflies! That did seem truly magical and it must have been even more so in person. That pie looked yummy. Those years of practice making rustic pie tops really paid off, I see.😘😁 It's a good thing Ru has a good sturdy Moon skull. That head thump on the cupboard was a loud one.

Ha he is pretty tough , he was stung by a wasp on the back last week when he was playing in the paddling pool , he walked in the house repeating ouch ouch ouch ouch.. then said to me mum I need some ice 🧊 I got the wasp out of the paddling pool with a leaf 🍃 that will serve it right for stinging me 😍

Have the English lavender, French lavender tends to die off in winter Used to love going blackberry picking with my mom, she would make jam, and bake loads of pies

I find lavender likes a dark, loamy soil. A mix of soil, compost, and leaf mold would work well.

We do but the dogs go ahead 😆 they clear the area , I absolutely hate snakes 🐍I can not even look at them on the TV or pictures , I know they have no interest in me but that does not help, it is a fear I inherited from my dad .. 🌙❤

People in the towns surounding me know when I see a snake. I screamed so loud I made our neighbors daughter cry. It is very loud. I yelled, "Sorry. it's just a snake".🤷@@the-moons

You have to do holes in the pie. So the steam will evaporate and it will be less mushy and less juicy.

Hi that's not the best place you have planted it find nice spot's and use some lovely top soil the area looks like to much rubble and not good soil even take soil from the woods but just find some nice spots takeback all the old and make new bed's or if that's not possible make some nice deep planters ...Happy Birthday Mr Moon have a lovely day 🎈 🎂 🥳 🎉

The buggers were In planters to begin with outside the house , they started to look ill so I moved them into the soil/grass outside the stables thinking they needed more space, still look ill so read up that they needed sandy soil .. last ditch attempt the rocky area ... DIED ... I feel so sad , I love lavender 💜 ,& it does not like me 😫

It’s interesting that blackberries are ripe in France. Here, in NW Washington State, blackberries aren’t ripe until August!

You may want to look to see if you can find some wild lavender that will actually survive a lot better I planted some blackberries that are Farm but I don't know if it's going to survive over the winter I love your wild blackberries I wish I had them

maybe test the soil i know my soil hates lavender maybe grow in pots you may have more success .

Love a little Moon family!! Please please how are you not eaten alive by mosquitoes 🦟. Im in NYC and I can’t go into my tiny front yard without getting attacked

Just the flies here, they are horrendous, 🌙we have mosquitoes but they do not bother us ( I may regret saying that 😉)
