The "More Than Words" band was called Extreme... Both Extreme and Mr. Big are primarily heavy metal bands, but their ballads were their biggest hits... More Than Words came out at approximately the same time as "To Be With You" give or take a year. Both were from around 1990-91. Eric Martin (lead vocalist for Mr. Big) was phenomenal in this song and is one of rock's underrated vocalists. Mr. Big is considered a "supergroup" given that it was comprised of all highly accomplished musicians. Both this band and Extreme kind of got lost in the overwhelming surge in popularity of grunge music and the emerging alternative rock craze kicking bands like these into the suddenly not hip category.

Had a chance to see Mr. Bigg live at a local venue. They absolutely do put on a great show live, and most of the audience were women. They do have some rocking songs, but mostly ballads. Great choice Blondie! As always Harri it was a most enjoyable reaction!

“Waiting on a line of greens and blues” is a reference to mood rings. The colors are anger and envy.

What are mood rings?
@michaelplano6941
@michaelplano6941 2 жыл бұрын
@@HarriBestReactions They are toy rings from the sixties and seventies that when you put them on changed colors to match your mood. Each color represented a different emotion. Really and truly, they changed with body heat, and weren’t really magical. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mood_ring

This sounded so familiar but I’m pretty sure I have never heard it before. The chorus reminded me of “Mull of Kintyre” by Paul McCartney and Wings for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️. In any case, this is lovely. Nice pick from Miss Blondie and, of course, Harri. It’s very pleasant to listen to. 🌺✌️

Thank you Harri for your great reaction. It was a toss-up either live or video. I went with the video as this song doesn't showcase their live performances, no drums for instance. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Love and Peace ✌ ❤🤘

Spot on analysis, Harri. Which is to say: you described how I feel better than I could have said it. Terrific song and performance. I’ve always been unable to look away or accept any interruptions when I have seen it. It was a huge seller in the early 90s. Thank you.

Mr. Big was the sh!t. "To Be With You" was a bonafide #1 hit for the band, but it gave no hint of what Mr. Big was really all about, which was playing unapologetic, virtuosic, face-melting, mind-blowing hard rock. Case in point, their first single: "Addicted to That Rush" kzbin.info/www/bejne/faC2dWN6gbZ8f5I They opened for RUSH on two successive tours. After the second one, RUSH decided never to have a band open for them again. That ought to tell you something.

I seem to remember initially seeing this on the BBC's Top of the Pops, as a 'pre-release exclusive' - had never previously seen that happen for an unknown band (in the UK). Not unlike this and Extreme's 'More than Words', is, 'A BETTER MAN', by British band, THUNDER - was a top 20 hit in the UK, in 1993. It's more emotionally driven, and definitely worth checking out.
