Butterfly made with circles and square scraps

While searching youtube for inspiration, I came upon a spanish channel that showed how to makes butterflies using pseudo origami technique. I have a video that I created 2 years ago using a similar technique but in that video I used a template. I really like the simplicity of this new technique because it is made with square and a circle and does not require a template. I have the same glass mat and circle cutter. I just love them. I have two glass mats and I made a reposition-able tack to put on one of the mats to use always. I took 50% water and 50% tack it over and over and I put on one side of one of my glass mats. I have to occasionally scrap it off and put a new coat on. Not often, depends on how often I use the mat. It was cutting those small circles and that gave me that idea too!! Great minds!! I just LOVE these butterflies. Thanks for sharing the idea that you found.

Do you have the measurements for smaller butterflies? I want to put them on cards and in scrapbooks. The wire and beads are what I have used to make lace butterfly ornaments though I make the wire and bead part a lot differently. It takes only one piece of wire and starts with a "tail" and the wire comes out of each bead with a twist as you go and the ends are the antennae. It is what I thought of many years ago. I have also used the bendable, positioning wide ribbon to make the wings. Now with the popularity for beading, someone else has probably done the same or very similar tto it. Pipe cleaners can also be done if the beads have a big enough hole to run two thicknesses through one bead. My butterflies are smaller, so one pipe cleaner or even shorter mightl do it. I like the glitzy pipe cleaners (now they are called chenille sticks or stems). Your butterflies are so pretty. You have inspired me.

Donna Conaway hi there, I am glad you like these. They are so simple to do. The smaller ones are a square that is 4 inches and a circle that is 3 inches. Try making even smaller ones with 3 inch square and a 2 inch circle. Thank you for watching!

it´s also possible to fold both diagonals first and than divide one diagonal into 8ths with parallel valleyfolds. than create a mountainfod between each valleyfolds.

Hi there, I don't know. I have not tried that. I think that you will have to be very precise with the folds using the crimped. If the paper feeds in crooked, then the butterfly will not come out right. Thank you for watching!
