Naja, Schumacher und Graf waren in ihren Sportarten weltweit überragend. Auch Nowitzki hat - wenngleich wohl niemand sagen würde, dass er der beste Basketballer aller Zeiten war - jedenfalls alles einmal gewonnen. Becker nicht, und Timo auch nicht (nie Olympiasieger, nie Weltmeister). Daher würde ich sagen: ein überragender Sportler in seiner Sportart, auch mit weitem Abstand der beste Deutsche, total sympathisch dazu, aber nicht in einer Liga mit Schumi und Steffi.

Sehe das eher so wie Frank. Wobei man sagen muss, dass die Asiaten (insb. China) halt auf einen ganz anderen Level spielen, während dies im Motorsport und Tennis halt die westliche Welt tut. Und das hat natürlich strukturelle Gründe. Wenn man nun beim Tischtennis die Asiaten raus nimmt, war Timo fast 20 Jahre der beste Europäer, sowohl in der Weltrangliste, als auch bei WMs, Open Turnieren, der Champions League im Vereinsport, als unzähliger Europameister und Deutscher Meister. Hier ist seine Dominanz einzigartiger, und IMHO größer als die von Federer über Europa oder Schumacher. Selbst Taylors enorme Dominanz im Darts ging über einen kürzeren Zeitraum. Nur, dass in diesen Sportarten die Asiaten halt keine Rolle spielen. Aber wenn dort Tennis zum Volkssport Nr. 1 wird und es diese heftigen Strukturen gibt, wo unzählige Kinder bereits im Kindergarten/Grundschulalter auf Akademien kommen, wo sie gedrillt werden, und es nur darum geht Profisportler zu werden, um die Familie aus der Armut zu holen, aber dabei halt alle anderen Fähigkeiten völlig vernachlässigt werden, dann wird es im Tennis so bald keine europäischen Weltranglisten 1. mehr geben. Das ergibt sich allein durch die Bevölkerungsanzahl und halt durch den enormen Drill. Da muss schon ganz Europa unter einer Flagge antreten, und China wäre zahlenmäßig immer noch im Vorteil.

One of the greatest Sportsman of all time. So sad that the most Germans didnt notice his achievements.. But maybe its cool and better for him to go threw the city without giving hundreds of selfies. I recognized him 20 years ago. He's still a beast and sportsmanlike in every situation. I dont know him personally but i bet he is a good human too. He deserves any award that Germany has.
