If it’s not cylinder deactivation, it’s spun bearing if it’s not spun bearing it a transmission issue the list goes on and on for all of them, which just sucks , can’t justify paying 60-70k on a POS .

OK hypothetical question to someone looking to buy a tundra… let’s assume you buy it brand new and drive it until the warranty runs out. Maybe you buy an extended warranty. Question… what are you going to do if you lose an engine outside of warranty? ($20-$25,000 replacement engine)
@Jason-Samko5 ай бұрын
Great point! Personally I would never own any new truck 2024 and beyond without an extended warranty and would sell it before the warranty is out. But if someone was going to try to get 150k out of this and be out of warranty that is a huge fear and risk. And not to correct you, but to let others know from all my research, the cost to replace this motor for those that have had to already is between 30-35k!!!!!! unbelievable. For comparison a brand new crate motor for our jeeps is 8k and a brand newe crate motor for an f250 is 8500. But the tundra short block replacement is between 30-35k with labor...ouch.

I realized I can buy one next year used with 20,000 miles on it and purchase a Nissan 8 year 150,000 mile warranty for around $38,000 all in same build. My excise tax will be lower too. I’ll self finance at 4.5%. V-8 with decent mpg. I drove one. They suck in some ways but for long haul camper towing I think they’re pretty dang comfortable and capable and reliable.
