Chose the PP a few weeks ago and am coming up on 1,000 miles and my second track day tomorrow. Been watching your channel since you picked up your Pikes Peak and appreciate the content you put out. I live in the Bay Area of California and not only can track but am able to now really spread my wings and tour to the far reaches of the state with the multi. I love the way the PP tips in the corners.

Before PP came out I wasn't even considering Multistrada. Had a 1250 GS and Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory. PP combines both in a single package, and is only marginally slower on the track, but excels both GS and Tuono in every other scenario.

Well stated…I couldn’t be happier with my ‘23 MTS PP…it’s been fun on longer rides and a complete blast in the twisties. I bought it for traveling comfort and for that super-bike feel.…the Pikes Peak is (by far) the best motorcycle I’ve ever owned. My only gripe, it should have came with heated grips. Great video as usual. I have probably owned three dozen bikes (maybe more) and 100 percent agree that this is by far the best bike I have ever owned. FYI my previous favorite was my 14 Pikes Peak and my previous rides haven included everything from Groms, Harley Baggers, to many sport bikes etc etc. If I were on a budget I would easily recommend the V4S over the Pikes Peak as it already comes with bags, heated grips, larger screen etc. But....... if you can afford and justify it buy the Pikes Peak along with all the other stuff necessary to take it on long trips. You will not regret it. Yes, it is that good (especially with the exhaust, couldn't resist, sorry)! Rembo, I did not know you were not a Ducati prior to the V4. I have been for decades now (previously owned the gorgeous 996 and 998s along with not so gorgeous 6K valve checks) which is probably why I also had to ante up for the dry clutch. Dry clutch and Ducati go together (IMHO) like Valentino and 46. Thanks for the video. Semper Fi!

Posted earlier about the why on the v4 multi vs the 1260 true desmo multi! Ohlins on the v4 is electronic on the pikes. Still prefer the 1260. 1260 thinner lighter, better torque spread , mid 40s mpg, V4s feels heavy vague but refined in a gold wing sort of way. Emissions is killing the v2 desmo soul of Ducati!

Hey Rembo, love your channel and i hope its a profit centre for you. I can connect. Ducati was never on my radar until 2016. The Panigale 899 had fantastic reviews and the new 959 which offered more stroke was everything I craved. Bought it sight unseen (I took a leap of faith). No regrets. It delivered everything expected and then some. Trouble free also. However i needed something more civilized and less hot at the crotch for everyday riding. I paired it with a Monster 1200R. Perfect combo. Few years went by and I needed something for longer distances with wind protection. 1260 Multistrada Pikes Peak was the answer. Had to sacrifice the Pani but it was worth it in my case. never looked back.

I have camped on all trips, hence my V4S preference, a few dusty roads to out of the way spots. For me, don't see this as a BDR machine. It was the radar cruse control. Performance was a close second. Coming off a BMW XR I didn't want to go backwards with the BMW RT just to get the radar cruise control. So the only logical choice at this time is the multi-Strada. When I'm older, perhaps the Gold Wing will come with radar cruise control but for now, the pikes peak is it!

Glad they fixed your issues under warranty like a snap. Some owners report stalling issues that linger or rough running at the lower rpms 3-4k where dealers dismiss it saying that is how they run. One reports going back multiple times for an oil leak. It'd be great to hear how service departments address issues. How long they had your bike, how did they respect a customers concerns. Do they charge for disgnostics under warranty periods. Taking a bike in for service is a huge hassle for many given limited dealers. Is it long turnaround times due to limited parts or qualified technicians. Also how do service departments treat you if you didn't buy from them. The service side of exotics is always in question and Consumer Reporting has not been favorable in the past so have they really put the worst niggles to rest by discarding the desmo or is build quality the luck of the draw. These are difficult to answer with a carefree bike but you must have insights given past ducs owned. At a minimum it'd be great to hear how you track long term on the total cost of ownership, beyond fuel.

Hi Rembo, I've actually sold my V4S Sport, I had it for 18 months and did about 4k on it. It was great at first to have a modern Ducati with all the electronic toys on there but I found the engine had far less character than my old 998R. The bike felt a little numb when it came to feedback through the bars so I had to pass it on and go back to good old V Twin Ducati. I'm now with my 998R, which I sold over 12 years ago and bought it back last month! At least I'd given it a go to see what all the fuss was about. I'll still be subscribed to your channel always 👍

Even my old Yamaha gets 310 miles out of a 5.3gallon tank. The pikes peak gets 200 miles from a 5.8 gallon tank. The Pikes peak is awesomely nimble, quick and comfortable. My Yamaha is nimble, comfortable and has half the acceleration. That's the trade off.

Also i appreciate the time you put to continue this. And after saying all off the above, I have a question I would appriciate if you can answer. I have the multistrada v4s for the last year. I really love it. But i don't go off road and i would like more sporting feeling when going on high ways. I don't travel a lot, but I want that feeling you talked about in this vidoe also for the little i do and once in a while driving on winding road). Also, I drive a lot in the city, and I understand from the video the pike peaks also feel better driving in town. So what I am asking, first, what the difference between the v4s to the pp especially in my case and would you recomend to replace the v4s to pp, when the money is not an issue. Thanks again, Gil
@RemboUSMC
@RemboUSMC Жыл бұрын
If you are always on the road and have twisty roads to enjoy than the pikes, Peak is certainly the better choice. If you do occasional off-road, a decent amount of gravel roads, then the V4S is certainly better. Think of the pikes peak as a combination, sport, and touring bike, and think of the V4S as an adventure bike.

Well said. 👏. Got my v4 pikes peak in august 22 after ordering early December 21. I’ve just covered 4000 miles ,changed tyres 4 weeks ago I’m on 5300 now, I totally agree with you. This bike is ,it’s effortless. I spend all my time in twisties of western Scotland, my bike doesn’t see straights very often . Although I’ll be heading into Europe throughout this year which will require some highway miles🙄. Even then though it’s comfy ,I popped down to oulton park race track to watch British superbikes last October approx 160 highway miles there and back ,effortless so comfy and fast. I’ll be taking it on track no question, looking forward to that now I’ve got to know my bike. After owning so many of the best sports bikes in my life and importantly-doing lot of miles on those bikes. It makes me laugh now when I see some guys crouched on their superbikes ,leathers etc. I’ve done it and it’s not comfortable on a proper run. Good for posing about on I suppose and doing couple thousand miles a year 🥱🥱, not for me. For me it’s about doing the miles that’s how you get to really know a bike. If we had your weather Rembo , I’d have many more miles😎😊. But you know what I like going out in rain where I live , like yesterday morning, it was Sunday I headed up into mountains not far from here, very little traffic, got in nice rhythm , bike is just a pleasure to ride and I wasn’t hanging about . The word effortless just about sums my bike up. I can’t keep off it 😂👍. I also applaud the mileage you did on your v4s, 👏👏👏 in such short time. I’m hoping to at least match your miles. Keep up the videos ,stay safe and enjoy Pike .👍👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Good evening Rembo, happy to meet you. I watched your video about the V4 Pikes Peak; I've had a Multi V4S for about a year and I'm satisfied with its agility. The only complaint was the heat released in the height of summer from under the saddle. I would like to switch to Pikes Peak as I don't do off-roading and above all to have a more agile bike when cornering. Do you recommend this or switching directly to the V4 RS version released this year? I live in Italy near Milan and I only use the motorbike on weekends for fun. Thanks in advance for the advice.

The 1260 S is even better on long trips because it has cruise control which is missing on the SuperSport. I have no clue how they could not have cruise control when the 950 MS has it. I actually find the 1260 S more fun in the mountains. The wide handlebars take very little pressure to countersteer. It drops into the corners so easily. I can be in 6th gear at 65 mph. I can pass an 18 wheeler on a 2 lane highway without shifting. I am over 100 mph when I return to the right lane. Both motorcycles averaged close to 50 mpg.

I would give it an 11 out of 10 but can only give it a 9 because Top end stops pulling at say 145mph, I have seen 164 with a tail wind and cold temps, I just wish it would PULL To 160. Does the Pipe & Engine Map you got, Help? Ya YA I like Speed ha ha ha ! "I Have the Need, The Need for Speed", TopGun

So, with the full exhausts, I see better acceleration, but I did not see a better top and speed, and I don’t know why. It might just be the gearing.

Pikes peak is what…$4-5k more than the v4s? $32k? I got a really nice twin now, BMW R1250RS and it’s great and $13-$14k less. Granted 12k valve jobs, not as fast as a four, etc. i owned a wonderful 4 cyl. bike, the K1300GT years ago and that was the best bike i ever had. I love Ducati, had a Diavel which though a hoot to ride, killed me after 30minutes in the saddle. Same with the S1000R. Wish i could afford one of these but i’d never buy it new….i’m intrigued for sure…

How do you compare the first throttle opening (the initial torque push) between the old v2 and the v4? I’m trying so hard in my mind (and in my wallet) to not justify a 30k investment while there’s so many pikes peak v2 for half that price 😅
@RemboUSMC
@RemboUSMC Жыл бұрын
There is a very clear and distinct difference between the two motorcycles. The V4 has a significantly more powerful throttle response.
@briangc1972
@briangc1972 5 ай бұрын
Many people with the V2 engines say the V4 has more power after 8000 rpm while the V2 has more grunt and pulls harder at lower revs. I rarely ride at 8000 rpm. But I do ride in the 4000 to 6000 rpm with every gear. I have a 1260 and would not exchange it for a V4. I also do not care for how the V4 turn off the rear cylinders. That system has been troublesome for cars, I do not think it is good for long term reliability in a motorcycle.

Last year, I went on a long trip with my 2020 Tracer 900 motorcycle. I had a passenger with me. Everything was fine on the asphalt, but when I entered a slightly off-road path, I started to dislike the motorcycle, and I decided not to get another sport-touring bike. I sold my motorcycle. (Also, while parking in my slightly inclined home garage, the bottom of the motorcycle scraped.) After a short break, I decided to buy another motorcycle and opted for the BMW R1250GS. I chose this model due to its reliability, BMW quality, durability, and good service. However, after seeing the Ducati Pikes Peak, my interest was reignited as if I hadn't experienced those bad memories. But in my country, Ducati's service is at its worst level, I must say. All my friends swore never to buy a Ducati again. Sometimes they had to wait 3-5 months for replacement parts. Still, the Pikes Peak model is very attractive. Let's also see the upcoming BMW M1000XR. I'll make a decision by then.

Try switching brands of fuel. My surging went away when I switched to the mid grade fuel. The engine was more temperamental using the higher octane stuff. I now only use Sunoco or Union 76 and both my Ducatis and my Aprilia run smooth as silk. Immediate startups and no surging or chugging when cold or hot.

@@109rfan1 The overfill issue has to do with the vapor recovery canister, a well known issue. As far as keeping the engine over 5000 rpm, OF COURSE! it is a Ducati! not a Honda Civic! I tell guys that on the forums every week. Why do they buy a Ducati and lug it at 2500 rpm? They are made to be operated at double that!😁
