The first golden rule in Thailand is to avoid buying property/land as investment (or getting married). Renting is so affordable that taking on such a risk hardly seems worth it. The only scenario where I might consider it would be gifting some land to my girlfriend, perhaps in her village, if we’ve been together for many years, so she has a secure place to stay when she’s older

It’s $40k. What’s the risk vs $40 k in the U.S. you ll survive if a loss is only $40k. In Thailand. I’ll take the risk anyways due to , I spend much more than $40k here to live in the U.S. for 1 year 🤣.

Thanks Jonny I will probably retire to Thailand. I am looking for a place to stay and transportation i.e. electric vehicle for the total sum of between 50 to 60,000 US. I initially thought I would rent and get a motorbike. Now with the popularity of EV’s in Thailand and not knowing how long I will live maybe my better option is buy a place to stay rather than rent. It was nice to see the charger at the beginning of the video. How far would this be to soi bintebaht?

Renting it for long term for 8 or 9 000 definetely worth it. Having a nice condo for that price avoiding all the hassel and concern that comes with a purchase

I absolutely love this condo-it's perfect for me as a single person! I truly hope I can find something similar at the same price or even lower by January 2026. I wish I could make the move right now! I’m planning to relocate to Thailand from the US in January 2026, and by then, I aim to have saved enough to purchase a small condo like this and start a new chapter. I can’t wait! Thank you so much, Jonny, for sharing videos like these-they’re incredibly helpful. And a big thank you to the realtor as well for showcasing such great options!

I've been visiting, living in, or living next door to Thailand for the past over 20 years. I love Thailand. Yet I'd be incredibly reluctant to purchase a condo. And I definitely wouldn't do it with long-term investment in mind, because it typically doesn't work out well unless you get something for an incredible bargain at a unique time, such as during and just after the Asian financial crisis or when the exchange rate was over 38 THB = 1 USD fairly recently. If I had money to spare and found a special deal on one of the more quality builds at a very favorable time for a 50+ square meter condo, I might do it...but only, possibly, then. All that glitters isn't gold. And never pay more than what it would cost to rent a place for about 15 years: 20,000/month x 12 x 15 = 3.6M THB; for example, if a place costs 20,000 THB a month to rent, I wouldn't consider buying unless I could purchase for 3.6M or less. It's just so nice to be able to move every few years and to not have to worry about maintenance or major issues, or if the juristic office is doing a crummy mgmt job to say adios without being chained to the place.

One issue i noticed with the condo. The place on the kitchen bench where you would put a gas cooker, or electric induction cooker, is directly below an overhead cabinet, and there is NO range hood, or exhaust fan whatsoever. When cooking, especially frying, you would have to open the kitchen window, if there is one.? and have a pedestal fan or such like to blow the smoke and steam etc out the window, otherwise the whole studio apartment would be filled with cooking smells, and the bottom of the overhead cabinet would be covered in grease and crap in no time.!

Oldish project studio condo. IMHO renting is better than buying since investing in Thailand. I think the peer should consider renting it.

nice to see a correctly priced property. also nice to see an agent without the normal bullshit. I have rented here in the past, so has my gf. Sq m, is correct, and an accurate description. Beach is not far, but very dodgy main road to cross. Best to walk to Blueport and cross there. When i rented there, I was there on holiday, so short term rents are possible, so bear that in mind. Might not be a good thing.

@BrandenLesko
@BrandenLesko 12 күн бұрын
You can't buy the land, but you can do 30-year lease terms with usufruct on the home. In many cases, you can negotiate to renew the lease at the end of term. Many foreigners put the land in their Thai wife or partner's name. They build a home and have a lawyer draft up an agreement, which states that you're the owner of the dwelling and have the right to live in it until you're deceased, the lease expires, or until ownership can be transferred to your Thai children when they've reached 20 years of age. As for condos, you can own it in your name (many have foreigner ownership quotas)...just need to pay the annual maintenance fees.
