The Chris Reeve Sebenzas are relatively lightweight, super sharp, fast into action, feature his titanium frame lock, and have great blade shapes. They look great too. In my original 2012 review of the Sebenza • "CRK Sebenza: Stand an... I noted all this...and its ridiculously high price as well. It will cost about $450 to $550.
Enter the homages to the Sebenza. For a small price you can hook into all the 1st Cool functionality of the Sebenzas. These aren't copies as the design details are a bit different and they do not wear any CR markings; they're just homages to this great but expensive blade. Often the steels used are high quality, Sandvik in some models.
In hard use (shown) they have proven reliable and well worth the small cost. I'll use my genuine Sebenza to compare details in this value Nutnfancy KRV. Highly recommended while you can get them!

"Adam Boyd Another great review! I appreciate the cut testing that you rolled in 👍 4d The Nutnfancy Project Thanks much Adam. I am just trying to give some options to TNPrs who might be short on cash. These are great knives. 3 4d Load reply Zak Orendorff I’m gonna check those out. I have a a Sabenza and I love it but I seem to love my Hinderer XM-18’s better. Over priced? Yes, but so are a lot of other stuff like guns etc. love the content Nutn. Good job with pumping out the videos. Thought I would add this too. The one thing that I think is BS about the Sabenza is they tell you not to flick the blade because it can cause damage. Seriously?!? The knife is almost 500 bucks and CRK says it can’t handle the blade being flicked out. That’s why the salesman gave me a WTF look when I kept flicking it to see what the action was like... I still bought it though. It was always a grail knife for me. I do use it as well. 4d The Nutnfancy Project "Yes, but so are a lot of other stuff like guns etc. love the content Nutn. Good job with pumping out the videos." AWESOME that you have a genuine Sebenza; they are truly great knives. For flicking it, I wouldn't worry too much. Strange they say that. Good to have some users like these you can thump on, they're super cheap. I will keep cranking them out, thanks much Zak. 2 4d Load reply Todd Strelka Knives, knives, knives. I love knives. Can't wait to watch this later. 4 4d The Nutnfancy Project Thank you Todd, congrats again on the Rattlesnake Cache 1st find. Good trades too. 2 4d Load reply Powernoodle I own several Sanrenmu knives, and appreciate them not only because they are fine knives in their own right, but because they demonstrate how absurdly overpriced Sebenzas are. Yes, Sebenzas have fancy steel, titanium and hand-fitting. Nice knives (and maybe "douche knives" too as you say), no doubt. And, being a knucklehead, I own five of them. But honestly, a Sanrenmu is 72% of a Sebenza at 4% of the price. 4d The Nutnfancy Project "... but because they demonstrate how absurdly overpriced Sebenzas are." PN on point yet again. Sounds like you discovered these great knives a long time ago, we sure love ours. Thanks for being here. 4d Red dog 1 Crazy timing Nutn. I was looking at the Chris Reeves Pacific this morning before you posted this 4d The Nutnfancy Project They are cool and maybe for folks who have the coin it's a good purchase, links below. But the Sanrenmus give the same functionality they just lack the cool factor. 4d Doug Irelan Thanks for sharing your experience. Totally agree the The Chris Reeve Sebenzas is overpriced. The homage knives for $25.00 is fantastic although I prefer flippers or autos. Might consider using as gifts. 4d Connor Murphy Yay, knives! Fueling the addiction for 14 years! Keep up the great work. 2 4d Racing Psychosis I generally like the ESEE Izula 2 and own a couple. One day I came across the "Sanrenmu Horizontal Conceal Carry Stealth 7Cr17 Full Tang Fixed Blade Neck Knife" on ebay. I picked one up $19.99 + shipping. Got it, took it out of the package and was like wow, I'm impressed. Then I pulled out the ESEE and laughed. Its the same blade shape, same size, different handle. but the blade shape is so much the same that the knives are interchangeable in each others sheath. It does need some jimping, but pretty cool. 4d Lon N Another thoroughly enjoyed GRV, thanks for the value perspective. No new knife today for me, SBR fever victim........ 1 4d RowdyRon Really fantastic looking value options. I still can't get behind chinese junk anymore though. I'll buy Taiwanese stuff all day (Cold Steel). I bet you could unload your Sebenza signed on BigCartel for a good price. Lots of TNP folks would jump on it. Thanks Nutn. 1 4d Silas Porter When people bitch and moan about homage watches or blades I always wonder to myself, do they have a homage and not know it. In 1935 Bausch & Lomb designed the aviator sunglasses now sold under the Ray-Ban name. So anyone who wears aviators and their not Ray-Bans they're wearing a homage to the original. And yet I don't hear people complaining about it. Everything is a copy of something, as long as it's not a counterfeit I see no issue. 4d Tacticaldoodle Can you even call ray bans original these days? I know they're bought out but the difference is pretty stark comparing old v. new. Seems like all the glasses shops got purchased under one umbrella and now sell you the same foreign stuff with a 10x markup. I certainly can't see how my oakley's should be worth $150 with poly lenses. 3d David and Elizabeth That's a lot of cabbage $$$. Worth it though if money's no object. 👨‍👩‍👧❤ 4d maxmfs Love my Sebenza 25. Also love my Hinderer MP-1. I think they both offer good “value,” though I would never pay full freight - I bought both on the forums. I view them as “criterion” knives. Like the PM2 and Griptilian I also keep around, they are knives one needs to have in one’s collection. Just like if one has pistols, one needs a 1911, Beretta 92FS, Glock 19, etc. The ironic part is that I generally EDC one of several Emerson CQC-7Vs. 4d Sheepdog The Sabenza is simply too expensive for me. I could swing it if I wanted to, but I just don't get 3 to 4 times the enjoyment over something like the very excellent Spyderco Manix 2 or many other knives with similar prices. The most I've ever spent on a knife is the TNP ProTech SBR Auto I pulled the trigger on, on Friday and I only exceeded my $150 knife limit because of it's TNP connection. Just my personal value scale. No judgement of others who are happy to spend the money for an original Sabenza. I think these homages look like a great way for me to experience most of the enjoyment of a Sabenza for a 10th of the price. I'm in for that. 2 4d The Nutnfancy Project "...but I just don't get 3 to 4 times the enjoyment over something like the very excellent Spyderco Manix 2 or many other knives with similar prices. " Agree. As a reviewer I have to visit these high end brands once in awhile but they do not make me any happier! 1 3d Daniel A. Herb Always wanted a Sebenza, but cant justify the price. These other options will have to satisfy the itch... 1 4d Michael Rodman I think the knife is nice but not for $500, the only knife I might spend that much on when be a Halo. Though still I’d really have to like it so probably it would have to be a special TNP edition Halo before I’d pull the trigger on one. 3d HappyFrancisMacomber Funny... I have the 3in land and love it. Every time it goes in hand or pocket, I’m so happy. Never afraid to use it either. 1 3d The Nutnfancy Project Perfect! Glad you found these, they are great. 3d TacticalBunnyCA I lucked out and managed to get one of the titanium versions of this line. It’s only a little bit different with the same blade and design but it has ball bearings (all be it rather mediocre), it’s right side only and it has a single piece dual purpose lock-bar insert/over travel stop. Purchased from Amazon 3rd part in the neighborhood if $80. I can’t say that I would ever want to drop another $330 on this design even for exponentially better quality which a CR certainly has. My only objection to this review is saying that SRM is 95% of the original I think that is too critical of the Chris Reeves and too much credit to the SRM. even on my titanium version I would say it’s 85% and that is all due to the blade steel which I have found to be just bearly adequate in my SRM. 2 3d The Nutnfancy Project "...even on my titanium version I would say it’s 85% and that is all due to the blade steel which I have found to be just bearly adequate in my SRM." Fair enough...let's go with 85%, I'm good with that. 1 3d Load reply Bretti Andrettski It's all about value Nutn, I'm never ashamed by not owning the original. Oh and also being able to purchase 6 to a dozen different new knives for the same $400. Like the Sketchers you were sportin' in your cardboard test, best shoes for the money IMO. Nikes and others are cool but are built like crap. It's all up to each individual, but I could never justify that much 4 a knife. 3d Tacticaldoodle I kinda am. I've never, ever carried my Sebenza. I felt like I had to own one to be able to own any kind of ripoff/homage/fake/imitation but I couldn't bring myself to take it out of the nice little box and start scratching the crap out of it with EDC, when I have something just like it that I can wail on guilt-free. It's lovely, but unlike some of the other high end stuff it doesn't look cooler with wear. Like every other expensive thing around, I still say the best method is doing what Fender did the to the Japanese builders in the 80's-90's. Offer their products at a licensed, lower cost, budget build that gets people into your ecosystem. Man a kid started on a cheap squier only to end up paying for a US made custom shop. IIRC Colt did something similar. 3d Load 2 replies Ben The test drive value of homages can’t be overstated, love these reviews! Tried the Smael watch, loved it, got the real thing. Tried the Kershaw Cryo before getting a Hinderer, decided it wasn’t for me. The $20 test drive is high value, smart purchase either way you go 2d Plumber Angelo Always love a good value KRV!! I’ve been eyeing the sanrenmu brand for a while and I’m afraid I’ll have to open the wallet again... thanks Nutn!"

@Russian Conspiracy Theorist 8 years ago D2 knives were still pricey. Now you can get a a G3 handled knife with good centering and ball bearings with D2 steel made in China for $40 or buy an American one well north of $100. Either way it's a valid choice. "You won’t be seeing that four-fold performance difference between" them. I've spent between $18 to $225 for folding knives, they all work. Which one suits your use as a cutting tool and what becomes the never used knife? For me I sometimes use the $18 knife because it's a really good knife and wish it was duplicated with Micarta handles and better steel because it's a great design but generally use my Kershaw Knockout because it's the best balance of all qualities. It's truly not all about price but at $450 I would not use a Sebenza as a work knife on a construction site. The funny thing is that unless you are a knife geek most people wont be that impressed by a Sebenza, well men might appreciate its quality. I base this on my small family sample where they grab a pricey Brous from my edc box for crappy tasks around the house. See, women cant tell the difference.

In my case, they’ve actually been less safe in the house.. maybe five years back, I bought my first crk.. a small insingo with micarta inlays. No cheap lol. Ultimately I wasn’t into the blade shape and decided to sell it. I’d used it to cook breakfast one morning, left it on the counter, my girlfriend decided to do some cleaning and THREW IT OUT! Or at least I’m convinced she did.. I know where I left it and I never saw it again. Ugh. Took me five or six years to finally buy another. A plain, small 31 with the standard blade. Just what id wanted. This one isn’t leaving my sight lol. I’ve lost one other knife. A spyderco dragonfly g10/vg10. I know exactly where I left it.. was using it at a music festival, wasn’t exactly sober and know I just forgot to stick it back in my pocket before moving on. At least that one was only $120.. they’d gone up when I went and got a replacement tho.

In all seriousness, I do own a large and small sebenza and I love em! However I love em just like all my other knives! Everything has pros and cons, and as someone who's fortunate enough to have a stupidly large collection, I can appreciate all blades. I don't have a KZbin channel or an Instagram where I can prove that I have a couple hinders, a couple chris reeves, and most of the wheelhouse knives from the other major companies too (don't forget one of my favorites, the tnp black and purple lionsteel 😎). I think this might have a parallel with how I own both glocks and wilson combats. Haters gonna hate but I love em all! Haha. There's a time and place for everything, folks! Side note: one random thing I like about carrying something like a tenacious is that if a buddy of mine (non-knife guy) is in a pinch and needs a blade I can just hand him the one out of my pocket and when he tries to give it back I can be like, "no don't worry about it," and plant the seed of blade addiction in another friend. 😈 😇

Not going to lie I've been waiting on this video for a while!! I own the large Sebenza 21 with CF inlays and absolutely love it! Yes after tax it was 600 but damn its sweet. Right before I dished out the money I bought the all stainless Landd version and did a Nutnfancy grip tape mod to improve traction and loved that knife too! Also added a paracord lanyard to the end of it to make it easier pulling it from the pocket with gloves while at work and it worked like a charm. People look at me like I'm a mad man when I pull out my Sebenza at work to cut plastic, cord strap and my lunch but it was made to be a work knife and that how I plan on using it. Hopefully here in November I can shoot a nice white tail and try my luck with skinning with it maybe take some bloody Sebenza photos :)

I’m actually saving up Sebenza 31 now. I actually got to handle one and several other CRK at a local knife shop that I recently found that I didn’t know existed lol. Anyway In my experience it seems to me that CRK hold Their value pretty good. Also the warranty program CRK does is unlike most other companies, you can use the heck out of it and then send it in for “spa” treatment and pay $30-$40 and get a brand new blade and they will reblast and refinish the titanium. I don’t have a issue with the homages you shown like the land but they are completely different knives imo. 👊

I’ve never been into larger knives so the small sebenza is fine for me. Even so, the 7010 has easily spent the most time in my pocket. It’s just an excellent knife! Great grind on a nice, thin blade and while sure I’d be upset, I’m not out $400 if I lose it somewhere. I also don’t think twice about handing it over to someone. Regardless, I still had an itch that only a real one could scratch. My first was a small insingo with micarta inlays. I wasn’t really feeling the blade shape aesthetically but it was the only one available locally and the inlays kinda made up for the blade shape.. or at least I’d thought.. I ultimately decided to sell it, but while hammering out the sale, my girlfriend at the time THREW IT OUT! I’d used it to cook breakfast that morning, left it on the counter, she did some cleaning and I never saw it again. Ugh. I still dream of finding it someday. That was several years back and part of me had always wanted another. I recently found some local stock of new 31s with the sv45. I thought it over for a week then went back and pulled the trigger. I intend to carry and use the hell out of the crk but I’ll probably keep my old, beat up 7010 in a jacket pocket for more abusive use… best part is that if I hand it to someone, they’ll likely have no idea that I have them the $7 one. Not that I’m interested in advertising what I spent on the crk, lol.

It's kinda like torrenting, people like buying stuff they love to support it. If you like the platform, it's a good feeling having the legit one, but you gotta fall in love with it first and a cheap-O has a way of teasing the appetite for a design.

My buying price comfort levels escalated till I got into Hinderers. I loved my high end knives, but I got to the point where I could not justify the prices versus my ZTs and Spyderco's. And also, the resale was weak. When I'm losing $150 on a like new knife, I backed up quickly. I typically these days daily carry an 0562 ZT and a Para 2 Spydie. Knives at least are an area where we at least have the CHOICE. I think the only domestic Cell phone I can get is ~$1000 or so for the base model. Attractive, but I'd prefer knowing we have a factory next door. I doubt we'll ever see tech building here with the EPA digging around in the back of every factory though, too many horror stories about them so far and it's easier exporting it to shitholes that are already sludge covered hellscapes. I've carried a large inkosi for a number of years. I drilled out the thumb stud and made a much better one out of brass... I've also been very aggravated with the poor edge retention of the s35... The knife needs an update.

I don’t own a Sebenza. I own a large Inkosi with an S35VN drop point steel blade that I was able to buy used (with papers, birth certificate and original box) for slightly less than 40% off retail, that was in perfect condition when I bought it. I’ve added it to my two US-made Benchmade’s and is a significantly different knife. If you want to step up to US-made CRK quality, search out the used markets and you might score a good deal.

never owned a folding knife worth over 30 bucks. My EDC for the last 5 years has been a ganzo g724 the locking mechanism is like an Ontario rat knife. in fact, this one is pretty much an homage to the rat knife looks very similar. , doesn't look like ganzo sells that model anymore. But it has been so much better than expected. is made of 440c but this is an EDC, not a showpiece. It has done everything I've asked it to. holds an edge, okay and I like the bright orange handle. I just can't see myself spending that much on a knife. Granted I'm poor and if I ever bought a 400 dollar knife it would never get used.

The real question for all the fan boys losing their minds over this video.....not do you own a Sebenza, DO YOU CARRY IT AND USE IT? Not to open your mail, not to cut string, not to open a box. Will you skin a rabbit, open a can, cut bone, shave wood for a fire, in other words ACTUALLY use it as a freaking knife? You know most of you wouldn't, I'll call BS on 90% that say you would. Like the man said, send a video. So why do you have it? Knife bragging rights. Looky what I got. Be honest. Thanks for the honest video. I have a couple of Two Sun, and CH knives I'll put up any day for workmanship and action quality. D2 and M390 (tested and real) against a whole bunch of these four and five hundred dollar knives. I can buy four or five of them for the price, and I carry and actually use them hard everyday, because while attractive, they aren't high dollar pocket art. This isn't about China vs. the US. It's about quality for the money. Just because your American doesn't guarantee a sale if you're overpriced. Don't like it. Don't care. Figure out a way to make a decent knife that isn't a house payment I'll be a customer.

There is a 60$ Version in full Titanium and VG-10.... thats about the hardest killer to the sebenza. The difference between 12v27 and CPM S35VN is quite large ~ 40-50%edge retention, but against VG-10 its maybe 10-15% wich no normal user would notice! Your blade is dinged before that sharpness makes a difference

Hey nutnfancy . Good vids . As usual your vids are spot on imo . For most of some of these copies are the way to go . Recently bought a few eafengrows and am impressed , the ef335 , ef225:is amazing as well as ef902 is a home run if you like a big knife and beautiful hunks of of a knife . Can’t go wrong with a $30 ef335 even though it’s very similar to a microtech strider doc I can’t afford a real deal and wouldn’t anyways . I don’t consider myself a collector but more of a user and wouldn’t use a $500 knife but I will use these cheaper knives and have , in the woods and they can take it . Some honorable mentions are a ganzo 720, ef 335, ganzo adimante neformat skimen design is perfect edc in all black and the action is better than most of my other knives that cost over $100 . Civivis are ok but not for the woods . Ruike p108 has actually been awesome once taken apart and re oiled , vey light Carries well. I 100% agree on not investing 100 s of dollars into knives as they don’t maintain any value , nowhere near as much as a firearm . At least in my world if I got tired of gun I could easliy sell to a friend for the same price and many have gone up in value so unlike a knife . I don’t laugh at the collectors , I understand , but then again I kinda do laugh when I see someone spending a $1,000.00 on one knife and speaking so highly about it when we all know they just got taken to the cleaners . Knives are not guns and have absolutely no business being over a $100 imo . Anyone can say what they want below , it’s just my opinion .

Use them all day long, give them as gifts, and stash a few in vesicles and bags. I went for a CRKT Ruger LCK thanks to TNP. Hated it at first, almost sent it back! Grew on me and it is my daily carry 50% of the time. The Ganzo FH41s are fantastic! That is EDC about 40% of the time.

I never, ever carry the actual real Sebenza, I just can't bring myself to put the wear on it and beat the crap out of the titanium. In the end it just sits in a drawer, with the homage doing all the heavy lifting, getting beat to hell guilt free.

It actually justified in price if you think about it. Besides reputation, best fit and finish of any knife, design, materials, winning year after year after year for best knife, etc... you get a lifetime warranty. No other knife company has theirs. If you mod it, it's void though. But if you use it just as intended? That's gold.

I own multiple CRK knives and have daily carried a Small Inkosi for over 4 years now of heavy use country living (And yes I will send you an imgur link, name a household item and I will picture it with them). On the other hand I also only own 1 watch. For me an expensive knife is like an expensive pair of sunglasses, I don't lose them. I'll lose 20 $30 knives in a year, I won't lose my expensive ones. I beat the crap out of it, but I don't lose it. Trying to compare a titanium knife with S35VN steel, to a stainless steel knife with cheap scandy steel is akin to comparing a high point to a Wilson Combat 1911. "But they are both knives so they should be comparable." No, it's really that simple. You're paying for "from the ground" up quality of what a Made in America quality item should be. Why are CRKs so widely respected? Tolerances, warranty, life expectancy, components...etc If you want to sell your Sebenza and probably get around $400, as long as you still have box and docs, that should be pretty easy to do in one of the CRK facebook groups. You ALWAYS preach to us SAWC. My knife and gun go everywhere with me, even to the gym. My SAWC with my knife was half of what it has been the last 4 years with cheap knives. You hit the nail on the head then blew right over it in the same breath, "you love everything about the Sebenza". Well if you're not a gear review channel and you are only purchasing 1 knife for daily EDC to maintain 100% SAWC, why buy a $600 gun and a $30 knife?

Like Bobby said, it's tough not knowing it's real. As cool as they are, it's a preeeeeeetty simple design, and with some effort you can make a great knock off and the best way to launder it is through ebay. People may be somewhat wary, but I've seen some damn spot-on clones (turbo replica supah chinah ripoffs) out there. If the buyer has a receipt, then cool. But it's risky.

I cant even buy his knives direct from website unless I want to wait 9-12 months and if you go on any site like blade HQ every large Sebenza variant is sold out. I thought the Chinese high value Ti frame locks would cause issue for Chris Reeve but its not even close. Iv owned a Sebenza before (sold it 7 years ago), however you are correct they are priced very high for the features. At one point the big three (SNG, Sebenza, and XM-18) were the knives everyone wanted. In the case of the Sebenza and XM-18 they are still being regularly produced and with plenty entering the market with alot of competition the secondary market prices have dropped. I still remember when I bought a production XM-18 from the table for ~$385 and people were paying $700+ on the secondary.

When you blow a huge wad of cash on an item there is a powerful psychological need to defend your purchase; on a personal level, I understand that. Objectively however, the obscenely overpriced Sebenza is simply not 20 times better than the Land. People with healthy egos don't need to boost their self-worth with bling to make themselves feel better, which is why they usually have more money to spend on rational purchases. With clothing, for example, some people need to bolster their self-esteem by wearing expensive "designer ' clothes.

This is literally the most biased comparison 😂 what you’re avoiding is what you’re buying into when you buy a CRK. There isn’t a single knife that has the “shelf life” of a Sebenza. Blade replacements, spa services, construction, ease of disassembly, the sharpening life of a properly done hollow grind, and top level customer service. Any small batch high end USA knife costs money, a lot of money. If you don’t want to spend money, they a crappy steel framelock with unknown steel and a terrible heat treat sort of fits the bill, I guess. Based on your logic, a Lightning OTF is 75% of a Microtech at a fraction of the price. Why do you own microtech’s? Because you like them!!! The CRK brand is thriving as many other high end USA made knife brands.
