Buy Isuzu Dmax Vcross instead of Toyota Hilux? Here’s why!

Isuzu Dmax Vcross 4x4 versus Toyota Hilux is a hot topic! After all, the Isuzu didn’t have any real competition till the Toyota came along. We have tried to answer the question on which pick up truck makes more sense. Both are lifestyle vehicles however the Isuzu Dmax Vcross 4x4 is better priced than the Toyota Hilux.

Good use case explanation! Hilux is great product but it's still just a 1/4 ton truck and Isuzu does 90% of the same stuff if not more, so the price difference is hard to justify using logic.

Our point exactly! Not to take away from the Hilux, but the VCross does just about everything at a much lower purchase price. Isuzu does need to step up their dealer network though.

I am swinging between DMax and Hilux and your video helped me a lot to decide. I just have one query, does the Isuzu DMax has cold starting issue at high altitude?

Almost all diesel engines have cold start issues at high altitudes. And that is because diesel freezes😉. Even in a place like Kodaikanal we have seen that diesel powered vehicles feel a little sluggish in the mornings . The Isuzu comes with a built- in system to protect the engine while cold starting. So it feels sluggish, but the way around is to fire it up and let it idle for 5 min and then head out.

With the current discounts the Toyota is a better choice. The only thing you need to consider is your usage…will the 5 lakh difference justify that

The Hilux has great ride quality as compared to the Thar. I also believe Toyota is still offering big discounts on the Hilux.

Hi, I would offer between 12.5-13 lakh for it. The highest I would recommend would be 13.15 lakh, no more. Ideally you want to get it for 12-12.50 ( that would be a very very good deal)

Sadly 2nd hand car prices are also determined by market demand and the cost of new car prices. Special vehicles that have low availability are always higher priced- likely gypsy, old Thar, even Qualis! These command very high 2nd hand prices. D-Max is also a sit in limited numbers in 2nd hand market. Ideally it should be for 9.75-10.50, but then the mods and all the extra work ….so it will come for that 12.5-13 price.

I am confused between the two for which one to buy. I guess the Price should be the deciding factor for Purchase, right?? The power is good in the Hilux but I feel VCross looks better. ( Personal Opinion). Wish Isuzu was as powerful as the Hilux.

Yes, price pays a major role. Also Isuzu is coming out with the new VCross this month…so you can see that before making a purchase decision

If somebody can do a comparison of performance in specific area , such as in off road - terrains mud , sand , snow. It would help to make a better decision for a prospective buyer. Figures in paper cannot be considered at face value.

Thank you for your feedback. The idea was to talk about how a pick up truck is also about practicality and an overpriced one just doesn’t make a lot of sense. I love the Toyota Hilux, but from a standpoint on use and overall affordability the Isuzu wins. In an ideal world, what we really need is a nice pickup truck in the 14-15 lakh range. Something comfortable, fun and practical!
