I worked for Prada for around 9 years. The zippers and buttons were always issues. The zipper company that Prada uses are in line with the original company, both founded in 1913. Prada has remained true, but the quality has major issues. It also something to note; much of Prada is now manufactured in China, Vietnam, etc. the company, cleverly, began a “Made-In” collection which featured denim made in Tokyo, special wool Made In Scotland, etc. Overall answer, for an insider: the product is lovely but (80% of the time) not worth it.

Everyone needs to know that the products at Gucci and Prada outlet stores are NOT the same quality. They are made for outlet items (not all some are prior season). These are the items that are (generally) made in China. The Gucci items are in the micro guccissima print and have a G inside a circle on the tag. That’s how you know it’s a for outlet item and of lesser quality. People on the second hand market need to know about this because a lot of times they will not disclose this information. Another for outlet item is (usually) the impunto print for Prada which is the diamond quilting. A lot of the items are for outlet only and made in China.

To be fair to me the price difference between the discount to full price is not an issue, if you are going to buy you will (I don’t mean this in arrogant way) it’s Luxury goods at the end of the day. Always a pleasure to watch ♥️

I think Prada is often overlooked in terms of quality. I have a large Baltico blue Saffiano Galleria that I have used as a work/ laptop bag. It has been an all over the world with me for the last 8 years, shoved in Airplane overheads lockers , overfilled with various documents etc and generally “used” not nursed. It still in great condition with no issues at all other than some wear on the handles (I was late to the twirly/ mitzah game!). I also have their equivalent of the “Alma” in tan that again has aged remarkably well over the last 5 years with the Saffiano still perfect. Many going for the Nylon now but their leather quality really is fantastic and well priced compared to others x

I didn't know about this Prada rebranding... I must say that it doesn't bother me much because I'm not a huge Prada fan. I like their Galleria and Cahier bags and that's it. Sophie is spot on about trends, pricing, etc. Just yesterday I went on Tiffany.com to pair an item with something purchased from Christmas and the same item is already $25.00 dollars higher than it was in December. Sophie mentioned this recently (about merchants raising prices without reason or warning) so I wasn't surprised and glad I got my item when I did!

The Prada galleria bag is rarely on sale, my mother was lucky enough to purchase this bag in burgundy/talco with silver hardware for about 40% off retail value. She bought her galleria bag in the Prada outlet store in San Francisco Outlet which is in California US. I believe that this specific bag will go into the outlets in the future but it would be very limited. So it's basically a hunt for a good retail bag deal in the outlets. I also have to say that not all Prada bags in the outlets are made in Italy, some bags are made for outlets only and they are manufactured in Turkey, Romania, and surprisingly India. So, do some digging before purchasing.

I’ve really struggled using shoptagr, mainly because I don’t own a computer/laptop and I do all my online shopping on my phone or ipad but I tend to use the app version if there is one available because I find them easier to use. I got the shoptagr app for my phone and i just couldn’t seem to get it to work for me like the way people had said it does. I was finding that it wouldn’t send me countless notifications about sales going on in America but nothing tailored to me personally, I think I would benefit from it because I love to save money where possible as I don’t have that much disposable income but I will admit I’ve struggled with it

Yes, Prada CEO states that they wer not doing more sales on retail stores. They still do Outlet, but you have to be careful, because Prada does design items for the outlet specifically.

I appreciate your thoughts on only buying Balmain at a discount, but I will say that it all depends on your size. If you're right in the middle of sizing or at the low end, then yes, you will be able to purchase Balmain at a discount. However, if you need the larger sizes, good luck getting them at all let alone for a discount. EDIT: Prada bags are not even on luisaviaroma US site 🙁
