We bought a 2007 Corolla brand new and have put 579,600 miles on it. (Zeroed the trip at 299,999 and recorded it every time it rolled over) Replaced the water pump at 411,000 miles, replaced the alternator a couple of times, battery a couple of times and tires but that's about it. Just started having clutch/transmission issues and all four of my kids learned to drive stick with it! Amazing cars!

I picked up a 2004 Corolla LE from the original owners about a year ago for $250. Every single body panel has dents, scratches, and hail damage. Paint still shines and no oxidation. Interior is clean with no rips or tears. Amazingly, every single thing works on the car except the clock. Has 168K on it and runs perfectly. Best money I have ever spent on any car. Also own a 2012 Corolla LE with 172K. Incredible car that just keeps running with minimal maintenance and even has all original glass with no chips or cracks. Just can't beat a Toyota Corolla for basic, no frills transportation!

I bought a 2008 Corolla in 2017. It only had 75,777 kilometres on it. It did developed and oil leak that I thought was cam chain tensioner, but the local Toyota dealer said was the cam chain cover gasket. I suspect they scammed me on that one. But except for that it has been a good reliable car. It now has over 125,000 kilometres on it. AC still blows cold, the exhaust system is still solid and the mileage is good. Can't ask for much more.

I had a 2003 CE. Best car I have ever owned... Notice I said HAD. Bought it new, kept up all maintenance and being an aircraft mechanic by trade it was maintained as such. Used Mobil 1 from the first oil change. Back to the had... This car had 417,000 miles on it. All it did was run. Was rear ended 2 weeks ago and insurance totaled it. And guess what!?! I just went out and bought another one. Another 2003 with 130,000 miles... And I know I'll get at least another 200,000 out of it easy....

Back in 2010 I bought a gently used 2007 Corolla LE. My very first car. She got me to May 2021 with over 200,000 miles, got me through my last year in high school, got me thru college, my first job, and my first apartment. They’re not sleek or sexy but they’re great cars and I’d highly recommend a Corolla to anyone who wants to drive a car into the ground for the best price.

Cool. Still driving my 2006 Corolla Matrix 4WD with 226,000 miles. Still runs great. P0420 code on this vehicle can be caused by exhaust leak at donut gasket on exhaust manifold which can be made worse with worn engine mounts. You may notice code setting on step hills. Downstream 02 sensor will read lean. Also, if there is noise coming from belt area and you spray some water on it while running and the noise goes away/changes it is probably a worn belt and not the pulleys.

I've swapped the entire suspension, starter, brakes, radiator, water pump, serp belt, battery, full exhaust, plugs and coils, tires. Ever since 150k I've had p0741 torque converter solenoid and recently a couple of months ago , I've gotten a p2716 "pressure control solenoid d" code. Aside from the transmission codes/hard shifting the car runs pretty good

Actually this generation started as a 2003 model. I've owned a 2003, 2004, and 2007 S. Loved all of them. The Serpentine belt tensioner wants to go. I had to replace it on all 3. The dealership stated on all three, "your timing chain cover is leaking". I never saw a leak, never had it repaired. I did have the exhaust manifold crack on the 2007. The early 03 top door panel was a soft material, and didn't last. The 04 and the 07 were plastic pieces. The storage bin door always breaks. I replaced it on the 03' and the 07'. All of the things wrong with your car is definitely ager related. I finally traded in my 07 in 22' for a 2018 Camry XSE. I never saw 40mpg. The 07' made multiple 3000 mile trips and never did better that 36 on the interstate. I'd own another one, but they are hard to find in lower mileage and great condition.

Good looking Corolla IMO, yup; BORING everyone says; Not to me! I restored my 9th gen Corolla S. I sanded out all the rust, undercoated the bottom, repainted the metallic black exterior and repainted the rims gold metallic, new black headlight housings and new black out tail lights with ultra white LED lights and LED strips outside and inside. Sway bar link up front. Took the raised arm rest from a Matrix, black PU leather steering wheel and seat covers with heavy rubber mats. Did all the maintenance, spent less than $500, it looks so sharp it's hard to even recognize it as a Corolla. I am disappointed the rear main seal leaks on my Canadian model 2007 Corolla S, but the Japan built 2006 Corolla CE, that car is invincible. There are so many cheap parts for these Corolla's and they are so easy to work on. My absolute favorite car though is the 2005 - 2008 Toyota Matrix. The Matrix is basically a hatchback Corolla of the same year with the reliable Yzzfe1 1.8L engine and ASIN automatic transmission.

People are nuts about horsepower and accelation these days. 130 hp is plenty in a car like this. How many times are you actually blasting 0 - 60 runs anyway? It keeps up with traffic just fine, it's not sluggish. Folks used to routinely drive cars with under 100 hp, and not just tiny imports, but big, heavy American cars with straight sixes and 15 second to sixty mph times.

Yeah best cars I've ever owned! My current one is a 2004LE with about 335,000 miles on it. Using a little oil now but still don't need to add any between changes. Up north here the salt kills the driver side front and rear wheel bearings. I have replaced 2 bearings on this car, the previous 2003 had 4 bearings done but never the front passenger side. Gas cap issues, had to resolder clock, center console plastic storage doors broke and fall off since new. I tow a small HF utility trailer at 70 miles an hour quite a lot. Way cheaper than my old Chevy pickup. Regular oil changes are a good move to keep it running well.❤😂

The Corolla is so boring even the problems are boring. I just bought an '08 w/ 170k for $2k. It could use some mechanical TLC like new front rotors, but as I've researched Toyotas & 1ZZ-FE engine & the trans & then looked this one over if you can turn a wrench tye most common issues are easy & cheap enough to handle yourself. While this is my first Toyota I highly doubt it will be my last. Now I'm still keeping my '00 Cherokee, & -81 Dodge Ram, but this Corolla will be racking up the miles for me.

IF you drive in an area that does not get much snowfall then an old Corolla is a perfect vehicle to buy. But if you live in the rust belt, then anything older than 20 years old is just too old, it will be nothing but rust and paying for a bucket of rust is not a good idea. I drive a 2008 Corolla and the salt corrosion here in Southern Ontario is beginning to make things 'fall off' of the car (heat shields around the stainless steel exhaust have all fallen off). Used 2006-2008 Corollas are fairly expensive here in Southern Ontario, Canada, with prices for a good used model costing around $8,000. Seldom is one able to find even a rusted-out model (ready for the scrap yard) for less than $4,000. Normally I would say "Buy a used Corolla" but with the price of a gently used 2008 Corolla being $8,000 and a BRAND NEW Mazda3 being only $20,000, I'm beginning to focus my attention on buying a NEW Mazda3 when my current Corolla starts to become unsafe to drive due to extensive body rusting. That should be in around 5 years from now. A brand-new car will give you 20 years of driving enjoyment but a 2008 Corolla in 2028, is already 20 years old and even getting parts for such an old car will start to become difficult (and expensive). Add in the fact that it will have accumulated 20 years of salt corrosion and the most you would be able to get out of it would be another 10 years of use before rust starts to make it unsafe to drive. For that reason, while I would 'Prefer' to buy an old used Corolla, the high prices make the purchase of a Brand New Mazda3 way more appealing.

great review. I have a 2003 Corolla S model 5 speed manual transmission. With a little over 390.000km. It has been great so far with some usual wear and tear fixes. didn't bother replacing the expired odometer, using the trip instead which also only goes to 9999 km. but now i have to replace my gas tank as it leaks gas at 3/4 fill ! So I can only fill to a little over half tank. But i have this noise coming from the rear tires i think every time i go on a bump or potholes , it just not smooth and annoying. Any one have an idea what it might be ? i replaced my shocks 5 months ago. my common issues are few: clock works fine. Engine lite has been on for the last 4 years, cant get rid of it. my console lite hasn't worked for the last 10 years, loose bulb. Too expensive to fix, other than that all good. Body is still looks brand new. Does my model have springs that might need replacing ? Please help. Thanks.

Everything that was replaced was just wear and tear items, so now it runs like a car 10 years newer. Did we pay too much for it? Probably. have we spent more than we should have on it? Definitely! That was definitely the stigma Toyota had in the 80's & 90s, but my '08 that has 170k & has spent its life in NE is surprisingly not all chewed up. The only visible rust is in front of the driver's side rear wheel well (typical), & while I won't go crazy taking it to a body shop to do it right & cost me more than the $2k I paid for the car it will get cleaned up, sealed, some Bondo & paint. That should be good for the next 170k.
