I actually got to drive this for a few minutes and that CVT is unique. Not good, not bad, just different. I’m surprised it has held up so well.

Have a 2017 Altima with 800k miles bought brand new with original transmission and engine and it’s still going strong with no problems

Had a previous gen and it held up well as long as the proper maintenance is done!

This dude is extremely hard on a 10 yr old vehicle without knowing much about it outside of gathering google data. Those 2.5 engines are super solid and reliable. The transmissions are actually reliable with maintenance as with any other vehicle. How about owning one before criticizing one or even claiming to know them and giving a bunch of false information.

Yep I hated the cvt on my wife's 07 Altima, when I changed the fluid it was burned, but it was so easy to change everything on my own, the radiator, I changed pretty easy, on my Toyota Avalon now is so hard to work on, just to change the tranny fluid, my God such a pain, bleeding the coolant, sucks don't need that on my Altima , just better for a diy car.

How did the car feel coming down hills? Did you notice high rpm, as if it was doing a downshift? Anytime I come down a hill to a stop sign or light I feel a lot of resistance as if the transmission won’t free-wheel until the last 10-15 feet. Just wondering if this is ‘normal’ or if I have an issue.

Cvt is guaranteed to fail regardless of maintenance. Just say NO to Nissan.

my 2013 Altima has 200k miles and never had a problem with the transmission failing. Not sure what you're talking about.
