For the type of work Karlee does, I think the buy was the better decision (the uniform flat surface and liquid moat). Both were beautiful in terms of design!
@biancabrooks2805 жыл бұрын
Usually I’m team DIY, but in this case you really need to go Buy. The buy was just so much more functional, even tho it needed a separate storage solution. HOWEVER, all those puns were LEGIT!! 😂🤣
@missdawn90685 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love both desks and personally I would pick DIY, but I understand why she picked BUY. My main issue with both is.. WHY SO SMALL?!
@thecoralchannel5 жыл бұрын
Both desks are so small so they can fit in the space better☺️
@missdawn90685 жыл бұрын
@@thecoralchannel Ahh, I get it. Still could have been a bigger surface area with more storage underneath though😅 But as long as she is happy that's really all that matters. Just as someone who does similar work I would hate such a small desk after a while.
@TheRealLifeScientist5 жыл бұрын
ok... let´s talk about the DIY... Is it pretty? yes, it is and as metioned, it is a conversation starter... However... Is it functional? not so much... I mean... whatever she spils on the top of that desk is necessarily going to drip into that storage compartment... both on the edges of the plastic glass and through that gigantic hole that serves to open it... I don´t think you thouht it through today Danie...

VIKYSEK1987 I gotta agree. Not only that, but as a general rule the smoother the surface the easier it is to sketch on. A chip board top that will EASILY scuff, chip, splinter, and otherwise fall apart sounds absolutely painful to do any sort of art on..

I really wanted that acrylic to be the entire top surface that could flip up with an entire open storage underneath made of chip board. Modern elementary school desk like. Still cool, but as an artist also gotta go buy this time. 👍💜

Both were awesome and I think she picked really well for her needs. But damn! I’m really into that clear centre insert on the diy! I would have genuinely been happy with both of those in my home...great jobs girls!
@celebkiriedhel5 жыл бұрын
Team buy. The standing desk was definitely more functional in the buy. The DIY was beautiful, but the acrylic insert was problematic. Apart from the leaking issue, she would need to clear off her desk anytime she needed anything from the center storage. Would be a problem mid project. More functional would have been to make it as a drawer, and the acrylic insert to be just a window into the space, without the hole. Would have resolved both issues.

Good idea, making it a drawer!

These are both so good! I don't know how these people manage to choose lol. I feel like for her the buy was the best option if she is going to be using liquids & other messy products, it will be easier to clean. For myself I would have gone with the DIY for laptop work, jewerly making, & beading (no liquids). So original, so much storage within easy reach (I REALLY like that you don't have to bend down to reach your storage as I have back issues & know many people do as well), & just gorgeous. But they were both so nice!

Team Buy this time, it was much more functional and aesthetically pleasing, but I’m sorry that is clearly a pen groove to stop pens rolling away not a no spill moat! The desk is slightly slopped down to the front and the groove doesn’t go along the front edge so if you spill any liquids they are going to run off the front not get caught in the groove.

Team DIY, Danie did such a great job making the desk function for a special FX fabricator. And it looks so good! Can I buy this since she went with the Buy? 🥰😍
@flowersafeheart4 жыл бұрын
Both were fantastic (and love the dog). I see why buy was chosen, very thoughtful functions and nice touch that it could double as seated desk. Hmm, for easy-to-clean, smooth surface but the warm wood aesthetic client liked, could clear acrylic or glass top be put over a warm wood diy? Do love the moat and foot bar functions though and so did client...wonder if those could be DIYed. (P.S. I'm never a fan of desks facing walls and it's not great feng shui, but know they're very popular.)

Alexandra has really stepped up to the plate for this one! The DIY is one step ahead in terms of design but more fitting for someone with a less messy craft. Perhaps if it had a solid top they'd be on more equal footing. That reminds me: there is the same budget given for both buy and diy, and presumably the owner pays for the one they chose. Who's footing the bill for the other one?
@chandragarber33075 жыл бұрын
For this one I would have to say Team buy. The desk was more physically ept to function while standing, plus you can always get more storage containers to place around the room. However I did like the DIY, but that it would be more versatile for someone who either does drawing or even sewing with the table storage inside the desk.

@@Smooshes786 You can buy a table top in internet (even the size you wish) or in Ikea for example for maybe around 20 to 70 Euros (depending on where you get it and which material) and seperate table legs you can even adjust (I have mine from Ikea. I think they were around 15 each). I have two of them and instead of other two table legs I bought some drawers called ALEX for around 50 , so I got a lot of storage space for everything I need ^^ There is even an small table for only around 60 Euros in ikea, but as I needed a bigger one I made it myself.
