Thank you! I discovered the major height adjustment when watching your video. I missed that when I installed the fill valve with their instructions. I wondered why the water level was so low, and I had to hold the handle down for a few seconds in order to flush. Now, after I raised the fill valve, the water is higher and I don’t have to hold the handle down. Happy Saturday!

Pretty cool. I don't think hardly anyone else would take this all apart for the viewers or even know the stuff comes apart!

The best way I learn is to see what’s going on inside. So glad you liked this.

Hi Brian. You may have gotten an answer already on this but I removed the restrictor from my Fluidmaster 400 and it does have thicker grooves then the one you showed. Yours looked like it had a double helix with thinner groves where mine is a single sprial with thicker grooves. After researching for a bit I leanred that my Fluidmaster valve is a bottom fill version. There is no refill hose coming out of the top. In fact, the nipple that's on the valve is blocked off completely with plastic, from the manufacturing process. From what I found out, that design is for a quieter refill. In return it takes just over 5 1/2 minutes to fill up the 1.6 gal of water it uses per flush. Anyways, thanks for your videos. I've watched 4-5 of the ones about toilets when learning how to replace a steel braided water tank hose. I hope you keep making videos, they are educational and entertaining.

Thanks for the tips Brian, and explaining the differences. I was able to to replace mine fairly easily with the less expensive version with your assistance - love face time!

Does the flow restrictor prevent the fill valve from water hammer.

I like Fluidmaster valves - they are easy to use. How can I prevent a piece of trash from running up and jamming the valve open? Is there an inline screen or filter I can get? Thanks,, richard

Thanks for the great information Brian, personally I like the one without the bells and whistles.👍

Me too Britt. Simple works great. They built a plumbing empire off that simple and efficient fill valve. Hope you have a great weekend!

Good morning Brian , why is it after watching this video I now have a urge to go tinker with my toilet fill valve? HAHAHAH ! . Thanks for all of the great information , I hope that you and your family have a awesome weekend and of course thumbs UP to you!

😂. I was in total tinker mode the last couple days at work with a steam driven condensate pump. So going home and taking this apart was right up my alley. Glad you liked it. Thank you for watching, and hope your weekend is awesome as well!

A way to save water in an older toilet is to put a brick in the tank or a plastic bottle full of water and that saves water. However it may affect how the water flushes.

I have totally seen this work the older big old school toilets.

Thanks for the video, very much appreciated. Quick question, if you cut the restrictor would that slightly increase the fill flow or would there be no change?
@ThatFixItGuy3 жыл бұрын
If you just cut it I bet there would be no change. If you took a notch out you would get some change.

That leak sentry is over kill. Fluidmaster fill valves have a sudden, over-center shut-off. If the flush valve leaks, you'll hear the fill valve open for several seconds and know that the flush valve is leaking. I would prefer that over the tank slowly emptying. Thanks for the video.

Yeah I’m not a fan of those either. I think they make a good enough product they don’t need to do these other things with it. Thank you!

The Fluidmaster 400A has a major flaw. It takes 4 mins to refill your tank where the old style takes less than a minute. The issue is theres a white rubber stopper in the valve that you must remove for the tank to fill faster. Why did the company did this?? Stupidity?? yes. Some of us needs to double flush as first time around doesn't clean everything. It appear they added this stopper in newer models.

I know that little flow restrictor in the bottom can be an issue. I thought they always came with those though. Thanks for the comments.

Brian, we had one like this at that apartment building, and someone had stolen the plastic float rod, so I improvised a repair that lasted at least until it was replaced. I came home from work and heard the toilet in the hallway running constantly. It's so sad that guests are so cheap that they punish hard working people like this.

Different numbers on it? You do not explain the reason for the numbers.
