Great list! Have to plug Gotta Protectors again here. It's an 8-bit styled tower defense game by Ancient and it's oozing with retro charm. It's also worth noting there's some really good GB Virtual Console games featured, including some obscure gems like Avenging Spirit, Balloon Kid, and Fortified Zone.

Nobody talks about Ironfall Invasion. The criticisms about it being generic with bad voice acting are fair, but there’s nothing else quite like it on the 3DS and the gameplay is actually really fun! I’ve watched so many of these lists now, and not a single person has brought it up.

Really nice and obscure recommendations, my favorites from this video are "Sayonara Umihara Kawase" and "Legend of the dark witch" the first entry in particular. But my recommendation is "Summer carnival" a Famicom shootem up really fast and hard but really good. There is also on wii U the 3 "star soldier" games and Pc engine games that are not present in the switch "Lord of thunder".

I love how Switch fan boys just attack me every single time I say that the 3ds is my favorite handheld system. I love my 3ds a lot more than my switch. Tons of great games that were full games without having to have DLCs galore. Playing all the DS games on it, 3ds carts, the Gameboy downloads, bootleg multi carts...FBI and Homebrew. I don't hate the Switch with it's tons of shovel ware but I just don't love it. To this day monthly I put more hours on my 3ds. What I bought before the shop closes is Yokai Watch Blasters White Dog Squad. I have Red Cat Squad on a separate 3ds. Those games are sky high on cartridge for no good reason. Super fun games worth the download. Not worth any hundred or more for physical copies.

I love my 3ds more than my switch too like yeah I do like some switch games but new leaf is wayyyyy better than new horizons which feels very unfinished even in its current state. And kid Icarus uprising, that might just be one of the greatest titles of all time. Streetpass was underrated too, and the 3ds will be always better imo

Xeodrifter is also part of the Atooi Collection for the 3ds. It's the only physical Limited Run Games release for the 3ds, and it comes with the awesome retro-style Mutant Mudd games too. Check it out!

Xenodrifter is available from Limited Run on the Nintendo Switch for a limited time now from the time that this message is currently being typed. Same with Mutant Mudds collection as well. I also saw the image box art for the Limited Run cover of the Mutant Mudds collection somewhere online as well. Amazon also has it available for sale as well. They already made agreements with the companies already in advance prior to the Nintendo Switch even coming out. I was strangely researching this subject matter for some strange reason, and eventually confirmed this information to be 100% authentic.

Mutant Mudds also the company already had a plan for along to release for the game including the sequel with literally making me re-download the game update for the levels to do them all over again on my Nintendo 3DS, even though I already fully completed them, literally for months, prior to them launching the game update on the Nintendo 3DS Shop. It must have been how I cleared the game somehow since I believe that I found the website to download the games and the game update file from to your SD card before they even released the game in the first place. The website appeared to be authentic with the music being played was the theme song of the song with the ability for it to be play and paused at will, along with the icons being the mud monsters in the game being displayed on the website as well. There was also very clear place holders for the content that they were going to eventually create as well. The SD card reader already existed by the time that the Nintendo 3DS was out on the market, I just felt like i did not need to buy it everytime I came across it browsing Amazon back then. It was only until when I came across the direct website to get Pushmo added to your SD card, way before it was even put onto the Nintendo 3DS Eshop, they even reccomended using an SD cars reader.

Nintendo immediately approved of the game idea shortly after they sent the game to them to try it for themselves. It also just shows you that you do not know everything that occurs behind the scenes in a company, even though they make the game available for download to your SD card privately. Speaking of which, they probably made the Mario and Luigi game series available on the Nintendo Switch only obtained via the SD card, as of right now under further notice, method under the new company tilte that they were already preparing to use; even way back then when they made Bowser's Inside Story. I even saw the company logo for a bit, which probably means that they already fully finished the game title under that company name while they were originally making Bowser's Inside Story under the Alpha Draam name.

If you can somehow locate the demo of the game, they already looked the chip into only working on Nintendo DS phat for sure, and probably DS lite only. THE NINTENDO DSI AND UP will not work, it will say that an error occurred at least for the Nintendo Dsi, and assumingly also for the Nintendo Dsi Xl. I do not want to test out the Nintendo 3DS or the Nintendo 3DS XL, since I actually own the demo myself. I saw some game cards that worked natively on the Nintendo Dsi and other consoles without hacking the game, but I did not want to add more games to my collection to add further to my backlog of titles to play later on. I found them later on, but they only worked natively on Nintendo DS Phat and Nintendo Ds Lite. We already had too many games already to play, that even if you paid me to play; I would not get that far progresswise in them. That does depend on what you view as progress in a video game though. Also the Pokémon Game Boy Advance ROM hacks are harder than they appear to progress at first.

You gotta check out NightSky by Nifflas! a ball rolling platformer with physics based movement. intro sequence ("story") by Pixel the creator of Cave Story. the 3ds version runs great, and the 3d effects are subtle, but some of my favorites on the system!

Guys. Dont stress shop. Just mod your 3ds. Its so easy and may take time but the only way you could potentially hurt your console is if you break it or mess up the code. Use a tutorial correctly and you'll be fine.

Actually, you can still add funds after August 29. All you have to do is merge your Nintendo Account funds with you Nintendo Network ID and the funds will always show up on the 3ds

Late comment, but a game that I really recommend is from the same creators of Legend of the Dark Witch (Hell I think it is a spin-off in a sense?); Brave Dungeon, it is really good and it has a switch port with an added bonus game but personally I enjoyed it most on the 3DS I think a sequel for it was in the works, but I haven't heard any news on it in a good while, hoping it is still being made though!

Zenonia is one I highly recommend as it is discontinued on all otherr official stores. A solid action rpg initially made for mobile phones. It's sad that the sequels never got released outside of of Google Play and App Stores, especially 3.

Thanks for reminding that the store will close soon. (March 23?) I was a big fan of the DSi Games, but for the 3DS there is not much special for me. Steel Empire could be nice, but much too expensive at the moment. What I could possibly recommend is Nano Assault EX.

There are three games all called airport hero (ATC) I highly recommend getting it for the 3ds digitally. Since the hard copy is only for Japan and it's about 180$. Also get airport mania as well cause that is a dsiware game. Both have alot of replay value 😁👍

@@RetroBreak here's one hidden gem I forgot to mention. It's called Gotta Protectors. It's like an 8-bit, tower defense, dynasty warriors, game. It has 6 playable characters that you can customize abilities and play styles with, 100 different maps divided into 5 chapters, you can also create 100 more maps, and if you beat the game you'll unlock harder difficulties for the same 100 maps (including created maps) and an achievement list. This game is crazy fun and an endless amount of it too. It even has local multiple and you can QR code created maps. This game may look "meh" but trust me it's amazingly fun.

You should be able to completely transfer the games from SD card to SD card, that a video clearly showed that it worked. I am not sure if the New Nintendo 3DS exclusive eshop games will be able to run on the original Nintendo 3DS. The video did not cover copying games from SD card to SD card, but it probably is something very similar to what was being shown in the video.

I'm sort of split between whether Steel Empire or Thunder Force III is the best shooter on the system (that I've played), though I acknowledge the latter never left Japan. I picked up a physical version of Sayonara Umihara Kawase for my Japanese 3DS (I found the original Kokopolo is still available on the Japanese eShop). Only two games here that I don't already have for 3DS are Xeodrifter and Mighty Gunvolt (though I do have them on Switch and Steam). I'd recommend Shin Megami Tensei IV - if only due to it being digital only in Europe, the BoxBoy series and the Pullblox* series (Pullblox, Fallblox and FullBlox), both the ones on 3DS and the Wii U. *Pushmo in US.

Apparently Quell Reflect is available on the Nintendo 3DS shop as well as being made available on the Nintendo Switch Eshop. Also there is a physical save data to digital game card transfer app that I tried to locate before researching it and finding out that Nintendo did not start working on it yet. According to the description of the app it says "The Save Data Transfer Tool allows Nintendo 3DS users to transfer save data from thr packaged version of a game to the downloadable version. Players that originally purchased a physical version of a game will be able to pick up rigjt where they left off with their save data if they decide to download the digital version of the same game. Save data that is transfered to a digital game cannot be moved back to the physical version." I might have found out how to reverse the procedure during this time as well, something that Nintendo claims is not possible to do at all.

I believe that you were still able to spend the remaining of your Nintendo DSi shop when the store could no longer accept the point cards. Also I believe that Nintendo mentioned in advance of the shutdown that the shop would stil allow purchases with the remaining balance with the possibility of not needing much games anyways after the shutdown of the currency not being allowed in the shop hopefully, but I am not certain that they said it. It was definitely written up at least a few years before the eventual shut down of the Nintendo 3DS eshop.

The selection on 3ds was pretty bad. They could have done a lot better in my opinion. No FPS games? No strategy games? And now there closing it down. Poor management from Nintendo.

Yeah, the lack of first-person shooter and strategy games was a common criticism of the platform. But the 3DS did have a strong lineup of unique titles, and a good variety of genres! As for the decision to close down the 3DS platform, that is ultimately a business decision that Nintendo made. While some people may not agree with the decision, it's important to remember that Nintendo is a business, and it has to make decisions that are in its best interests.

I bought Jett Rocket 2 a long time ago because I fell in love with the graphics on the 3DS, and it really is one of the games with the best graphics on the 3DS. But I have to come here and tell you the truth, don't waste your time downloading this game, this game is terrible. This game is extremely slow and very, very boring, I have nothing good to say about it other than the graphics. I played it until the end and finished it because I spent money, but the game is terrible, slow, and I remember that besides not being so precise, I suffered from some bugs that only made my experience worse. Comparing it to Mario 3D Land is a big sin.

Pretty dumb that they so eagerly close stores... why EVER stop allowing people to buy games, don't even ever have to update it people just need the page available to purchase this stuff it's bogus when you put millions of packages of hardware into the world to just move on and close the store in a decade or two... Nintendo sent something to me, before immediately deleting it from my console saying like to ignore the intial shutdown notice of the Nintendo 3DS Eshop. Also when I was digging up information regarding the system I came across their plans regarding the shutdown of the Eshop on the console. I also found something related possibly to their plans regarding the future of the Nintendo Eshop as well.

You can at least put your money towards the physical copies of the games, or borrow them from other people.

Also the Nintendo 3DS works off an SD card, so you should be able to acquire the games from other people who downloaded them from the Nintendo 3DS eshop, including the updates to the games as well. Also I found some of the game available to download to your SD card via the official websites, using an SD reader for the computer. The website for the direct Pushmo app even reccomended that you use one. I found one a couple of times before i found the webpage, but thougjt that I did not need to buy one. Pushmo apparently can get installed to your system via the IMEI number of your device, as well. The file downloaded from the official pushmo site appeared to be the real file made by the company, not the .cia file uploaded for preservation; although the system will still play it anyways.

I know that I found the files to download to your SD card for Stretchmo without resorting to buying them using Eshop currency. I downloaded them intially to my game file the first time when I had it installed on my system.

All of the games should be backed up to play as .cia files. Considering that Nintendo caught the person who implanted the celebi information into Pokemon Gold and Silver who talked about .cia files; it should be possible for the console to play them perfectly fine. He also pre-approved of the idea of hacking the Nintendo 3DS to allow the person to acquire celebi in Pokemon Crystal as well. The information is actually interesting to read about, and it was talked about in future tense for the time period.
