Javo is a great dude, and deserves all the support he can get. The dude's crazy when it comes to feedback, if there are features people want he does his damnedest to get them in the game. When we (I was one of the logo guys) were talking about the customization update that added more teams it started as 20 extra logos but we had so much fun with it we ended up including an entire second set of 32.

I think EA removed helmets popping off in “Madden” due to the NFL’s request. And considering that the NFL fairly recently got a lot of flack for covering up the risks of concussions, I can kinda see why.

I loved the NFL & NBA Street, Blitz, and NBA Jam games. I've often found the arcade style games to be far more enjoyable. The over the top cartoonish nature leads to more outlandish and satisfying plays.

In fairness there is a huge difference between optimising a game for split screen that is 3D and uses much more complex coding and background mechanics than a 2D sports sim that can implement cooperative play on the one screen without needing to tweak everything else around the coding. That's not to say that KingJavo isn't doing an awesome job because he's clearly got talent and passion and is really putting it into his game, but we should remember context when making comparisons.

One indie game dev upstages all of EA and proves that making a better Football video game than the Madden series is not difficult.

EA wants money and realism (what they really fail at), indie devs want... of course money (support them!) and FUN gameplay. And yes, this looks fun! Madden? Not that much. Graphics don't make a game good. But if it's fun it can have simple art style, it'll be still fun.

Remember when that was a thing in EA sports games, like changing the lights on a custom stadium would change the way the field would be illuminated at night? Yeah, not anymore.

This is what I've been saying for YEARS; Look at alternatives, even if it's not super hyper-realistic "simulation", as long as they're actual good games and products in general. I know this just showed up, but this is what I had in mind. - And I know that the hardcore sports-gamers will look down on this because it's pixelated and arcade-y, but to me it just looks like the indies are starting over at the beginning by re-creating these games. - The creator of this might end up a big corpo in like 20 years from now, but yea, that's how it goes...

Try Wrestling Empire. It's also a great game and is also made by 1 developer named MDickie. It has lots of wrestlers that looks like wwf/wwe and also has. It even has characters like rocky, silvester stalone, ronda rousy, McGregor and other classic wwe super stars. It is also fully customizable includy booking and promos. It also has a great career mode. It's on android, I don't know if it's on apple but it's just 1 player. It's also on Nintendo Switch and PC 4 players.

Blitz is still an NFL property I believe, probably why it hasn't happened yet...But I would kill for a simulation version of Blood Bowl...or better yet, Blood Bowl 40K...The tactical way they do it now is still hella fun, but the real-time possibilities for special teams and abilities are epic given the depth of the Warhammer Fantasy and 40K universes...a Football MOBA would be so awesome if properly implemented...The idea of each Space Marine chapter and xenos sub-faction as different teams with unique abilities almost has me salivating...but it is GamesWorkshop, so I don't hold out much hope for decent customization and restraint when it comes to microtransactions...They've been making some bad decisions as of late (The last 5-10 years)

As an old fart who played wayyyy too much Tecmo Bowl back in the day and despises the lock EA has had on football games, this game is fantastic - and even better with the NFL real-players mod you can get from the discord. Most fun football game in decades.

I haven't played a football game since madden 2003 for the PS2 but by god, you have piqued my interest into possibly getting a football game again and I know next to nothing about football lol. Only thing I know is to try and get the football to the other end of the stadium lol.

Retro Bowl (android and I think also free web version somewhere) is as much fun and I've been playing that instead of madden for years.
