(Buyers Beware) Civil War 4k Ultra HD Bluray Steelbook.

I recently picked up this beautiful 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Steelbook edition of Civil War. Unfortunately there is a serious issue with this release in terms of audio and I felt it was only right to stop by and share my thoughts on it.

Great video Ketih That's one gorgeous steelbook. Getting 'escape from new York / cloverfield' vibes from that cover. I might well pick it up down the line as I don't have a massave sound setup but it's incredible how they couldn't include an English dolby atmos.

It's all so very strange to me especially when you consider that every other release comes with Dolby Atmos except this one. But like I said in the video David if you're not big into your audio which you are not this is definitely the version to own. It was also a great movie I might add

@@millerman9991 sometimes you can get good results unmixed audio as I'm sure your aware of mate. The steels a beauty, I will be tempted if I see a sale. BTW I got godzilla x or whatever its called on way from amazon italy, think it was only about £22. So a canny saving.

Amazon US messed up on the listings for this release, they showed the amazon exclusive art work for both theirs and the regular release, and when you got the regular release it did not look like it did in the picture, there was different picture on the cover. And the amazon release was a 3 disc package and the standard was just 2 discs. I believe.

I do remember hearing that Amazon had a exclusive release for that movie. I honestly had no idea what it was. It must be the one that you are talking about the 3 disc edition. To be honest I'm not surprised to hear that Amazon screwed it up somewhat. There seem to be getting into a habit of doing that recently

Yes it was a bonus disc for amazon, and the damn thumbnail was the same for the non amazon exclusive. and people are complaining that they are using artwork showing slipcovers but the deliveries dont come with them. I like getting slipcovers but not really expecting them form older releases from amazon.

I think it all depends on the movie itself Marty. If it's highly enjoyable I might consider doing it. Normally I wouldn't entertain anything like this but the Steelbook looks so good.

Like I said in the video Christian just be very careful because there is no Dolby Atmos with this release but if you don't have that kind of setup then you are fine.

Hi there the image with the snipers on the torch of the Statue of Liberty appears in a lenticular slipcover exclusive to Amazon in the USA I double dipped and got the basic slip and the amazon exclusive, since the days of DVD I have stuck for the most part to ordering USA manufactured releases it’s become a psychological hang up for me now lol, occasionally I make an exception like with Maniac as the USA release was bland to say the least 😢.

Hi Keith, great video! I’ve just got a question: My setup just uses a bang & olufsen sound bar, which I don’t think even has Dolby. Would I be correct in assuming that for Dolby 5.1/7.1/atmos you need speakers all around the room and maybe even on the ceiling? Is that what you’ve got? Thanks and have a nice day

So if you want the perfect Atmos setup ideally what you want is three speakers in front of you. Left right and centre. Then two speakers behind you. One on each side and two above you. Of course not forgetting about the subwoofer. The sound system I'm using is actually a soundbar but it has up firing drivers and they do an absolutely fantastic job of giving you overhead sound. The only thing is a soundbar like mine costs quite a lot

Nonetheless, I was just wondering, why weren't you buying a steelbook from the UK, which is bound to have a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, but opt for an Italian import?

Honestly I had absolutely no idea there was a Steelbook in the UK. Trust me if I did I would have bought it. Amazing because I've seen so many videos on Civil War but I've never seen a UK Steelbook. I will have a look for it now and see what it looks like.

I just checked it up and apparently it is not out until September. Another thing to bear in mind to why I bought the Italian version is because I honestly thought there was no issues with it. I was under the impression that it came with Dolby Atmos but it's only when I got it home when I realised it wasn't.

To be honest I really recommend checking HMV website in the UK for any pre-orders as they are usually having most of the pre-orders and exclusives you can get in the UK. I am unsure if they dispatch to Ireland though. Living in Edinburgh I have no issue and I have created a close relationship with the HMV staff from Princes Street store, it's also a couple of yards away from my office, so always prefer to order to the physical store rather than online delivery to home address. That being said, happy collecting! Your videos are always great to watch!

Yeah unfortunately HMV will not ship to Ireland so my hands are somewhat tied when it comes to steelbooks like that. I'm hoping they will give us an online HMV service over here in Ireland like they used to years ago.

In my opinion this is by far the best looking steelbook available for this movie so it's a shame about the lack of 7.1 English audio. As for the film itself, i haven't watched it yet but I've heard mixed reviews. I've noticed its a very similar cover design to the 4k version of Escape from new york. Anyway i hope you enjoy it when you get to watch it.

I think it's one of the best steelbooks I have seen this year. It would be heartbreaking to have to return it. The good news is I heard that there is a German Media book that might have the Dolby Atmos so at least that option is there for me. You can't help but think of escape from New York when you look at the cover. It's probably why I love it so much. I just finished watching the movie and I thought it was fantastic.

Well, you can say the same thing about any American or UK release. Most releases have the English Dolby Atmos and the rest are 5.1. So it’s only fair enough for any foreign releases to do the same thing.

Keith it was an easy one to fall for because usually its the italians complaining of no atmos or lesser sound on their audio. You're right it had very good atmos scenes, some good overhead use. It was quite the film i was expecting but was worth the watch.

the sad thing is, is that probably was one of the best movies of the year, it was awful, I waited the whole movie to understand why the "civil war" was even happening and it never explained it, and then the army shoots the president??? what??? what a useless pointless unexplained movie i've ever seen

Great video again Keith. The blu-ray is region B locked, it says on the disc when you unbox it. 4K discs are 9.9 times out of ten always region free 🙂👍🏻

The reason to why I wasn't too sure is because the company that done this Steelbook also done one for the latest saw movie and apparently that 4K was region locked. Honestly do not know how true that is though. Fair play to you for noticing the region on the disc

Not really an audiophile myself Keith but good heads up for those that are, bought the english version which I'm more than happy with. Heard good things from friends in regards to this.. still not received my copy of AC Lone Survivor.. but i have just pre-ordered dans ( A C ) The last samurai boxset ( discless ) which looks absolutely gorgeous. Plus I've just ordered arrows Trick or treat & womdering wether to buy the A C steelbook of the same film as the artwork is really nice. Just not sure of the film tbh???? Is it worth it??? I have said it so many times in my videos it is the greatest Halloween themed movie since Halloween Season of the Witch. I went to see it at the cinema not knowing anything about it. All I can say is “grim”!!!! The sound was very good, startling at times, at the cinema so how annoying is there no English Atmos track.

@@millerman9991 I enjoyed it also but was expecting either a zombie film or a Chuck Norris “Invasion USA” remake. It not often I’ll just have a spare evening and just choose a random film but I’m glad I did. Civil War was a thoughtful and shocking piece and Alex Garland said it’s an accompanying film to his horror “Men”, despite them being very different.

I pre-ordered this some time ago but the package got misplaced, i got a refund from Amazon and have to wait for it to reach Norway again... maybe next week? From what i've read and seen of reviews and comments some people hate it due to it's political message. Trump voters hates it while most other people thinks it's a great movie. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be and I really hope you get as much out of it as I did. The one thing you are going to be blown away by is the 4K picture. I just watched Civil war, first of all I don't think the statue of liberty was even in the movie, 2nd I kept waiting for the whole movie to understand why there was a civil war, the journalists seem like psychopaths only taking pictures of murder, the girl looks like a 14 year old with the voice of a 25 year old, and then the army shoots the president for no reason I could make sense of, there's no back story, there nothing but the army killing invisible people with no back story, what a shit show

It's a shame you didn't enjoy it. I absolutely loved it. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Statue of Liberty because you can almost say the exact same thing for escape from New York. The original cover artwork for that movie had the Statue of Liberty's head lying on the ground. I actually enjoyed the fact that you did not know which side to root for. I think that's the genius of the movie. That's the problem with movies today always wanting to explain themselves and leaving nothing to the imagination. I think a lot of people went into this movie thinking they were going to see an epic War movie. I knew right from the get-go that was never going to happen

I'm not gonna get that time back lol I'm glad u enjoyed it though mate. By the uk 4k and put that in the steelbook

@BlurayBen I think that's the problem with people they went into this thinking they were going to be seen an epic War movie but I knew that was never going to be the case with this. All you have to do is look at the director himself. I'm not going to buy it twice. As much as I love the Steelbook I can't justify doing something like that

Hey Ken. I'm using a Sony 65A95L 4k OLED TV. Hands down the greatest TV you could possibly own. From the sounds of things you've got the same one

The Blu Ray disc is one which is probably Region B locked.

The reason why I thought it might be the 4K disc is because the company that brought this Steelbook edition out done a Steelbook of the latest Saw movie and apparently the 4K was region locked. I'm not sure how true that is though
