Gettin some flack on the price! I respect everyone's opinion; a couple things to consider on my part... . - The market here hasn't been great (Philly area) - Time is money; KZbin is a large portion of my income and the sooner I get the project rolling, the sooner I can create videos and the sooner I get paid. - The seller is a subscriber and allowed me to film the transaction which not many people would be cool with. It's also meaningful to have subscribers involved in my content; it's not just about the deal. - Literally a 5 mile drive. . I could have waited for a better deal but in my case; this was the move. Anyways, thank you to everyone that follows the build 🤘 . - Mike

Michael Sabo overall i think it’ll be a perfect build bike... and for some answers as I watched the video that is a stock rear axle, the wheels also have a date stamped in the middle, and those are oldschool maier “low profile TT” rear fenders which aren’t made anymore, and the front is also an older style maier race cut... I would go with Fullbore plastics I love them, or even maier plastics as I have them too... overall it looks pretty clean but I would gusset the frame with a Pumashine kit if you are going to stick with it... motor looks decent and the a arms use bushings... enjoy!

I wouldn’t take those comments to heart. I paid a grand for a 87 Suzuki lt250r in pieces. 6 grand later I got a completely restored quad that brings back a lot of memories from my teenage years. Suzuki or Honda’s the r’s rip and they rip hard. These modern day quads are nothing compared to the old 2 strokes. Keep up the good work!
@jerrynelson33865 жыл бұрын
Modern 450s are far superior to the old 250 2 strokes in every way. In fact the 400 4 strokes are even faster. A stock 400ex will beat a modded 250r the 250r might feel faster but its not.
@mikekent66355 жыл бұрын
All I know is at the local state off-road parks I’ve smoked every modified 4-stroke out there. A 2 stroke completes 2 combustion cycles to a 4-strokes 1. It’s a basic principle in building horsepower. The faster you get the fuel in , get it burnt and out the exhaust the more horsepower you make.
@jerrynelson33865 жыл бұрын
@@mikekent6635 well the guys must not know how to ride. Hmm so that's why they let the 250 2 strokes race with the 250 4 strokes now in mx and guys still ride 4 strokes. A 2 stroke 250 isn't even close to a 450 4 stroke. "Basic principle in building horsepower" or not it's called development. Tell me why no one rides 250 2 strokes in mx anymore? Especially against what you think is a less powerful 4 stroke.

I want one. Had an 87 back in the late 90's had the gold wheels, white plastic, and red seat. My buddy sold it from under me. Took it and sold it to his new buddy in another state. We were tight as a hell, like brothers I thought. It was sold in early 99 I think. I actually rode it in the late 90's. We tried some motocross. I really didn't have time but he did great. I was a little scared and was too busy to ride and put any time into it. Mostly scared though. I'm not scared when it comes to a lot of things. Jumping a quad compared to a bike is totally different and less confident. Any way he paid me a fair price but we have never been the same. Why I'm saying this is stupid . Just watching these videos, I guess. Had a 400ex, a fl400r, 450r, 700xx, Polaris 700 twin (junk). And a klx. (junk).

Personally, I would have not purchased an 87. Too many weird, sometimes hard to get parts since it was a transitional model. The ATC 85 and 86 shared parts with the 86 trx 250r so they had a huge aftermartket, but the 87 has a longer stroke and different wrist pin position, in addition for some weird chassis part (eg. grab bar) which changed the next year. So some small parts on the 87 are just awkward.
