I just use plumbers smoke tablets... super cheap, put them in a metal dish and blow the smoke in.

I changed the reverse switch on my 996 the other day. It took longer to get it up in the air. 19mm short wrench under the passenger side transaxle

Hey Matt! Nice to see you find that massive leak, however I would also not be surprised if you have a smaller leak after from those billet diverter valves. Very common to see the aftermarket ones leak…. Ask me how I know! Talked to a few experts, including Markski and am going back to 710N’s

Matt, I got an 02 with 175K on her. Great to see all the work you are doing, I have had to do some of the same myself. Get you a whip hose to attach to your boost test plugs. That way you can add the pressure while you search and keep from having your girl mash the button! 🙂

I have KW V3 coilovers on my ‘02 Turbo with adjustable end and toe links with aggressive street/ track alignment and corner balance. You are going to LOVE the setup.

My setup is more toward street as it is an DD as well with a tad more aggressiveness added for the Southern California roads and other super cars to run against. 😁 You’ll be happy with them and will be able to easily make changes, just a click or two, to dial it in.

Glad you found what appears to be the source of your boost leak. Another weak spot that yields same symptoms is bad check valve #16 in PET diagram as well as a bad N54 valve. It might be worth replacing all check valves and zip tie all vacuum lines while you are in there. I did that and my 996tt can hold 20psi for a long time. Also, your diverter valves suck, go back to stock 710 valves.

You need to add coloured powder to the boost test so it maybe be easier to find the leak

Also those hoses could be the issues also, I've read in the forums that they are not that good def recommend getting the boost hoses ask protomotive or marski they are very responsive and will be able to help as well. Also don't forget to get the 5 bar fuel pressure regulator.

Check the waste gates if it is still having boost issues may need to, should hopefully fix the issue if not~ Will try to think of some other issues that could cause the boost leak issue or spike issue~

Could've easily superglued the DV pipes after breakcleaning them. I've done it on several vw and audi cars with the old 1.8t engines. It holds up great until you get the replacement hoses

Also OEM is not always better they have some really good after market parts that are a lot better then the OEM porsche~ Also Agency power makes a really good BOV if you like the bov sound. I love mine~

Just re-did the suspension on my 03 C4S and it was... fun? It's a lot of work, especially when on your back under the car. Having a lift would have made it WAY easier, but that could be said more almost every job I seem to do. I have the QuickJacks, but it's still an up-down ballet and several... several hours of fun. I didn't spend the cash for coilovers, so I'm jealous of you.

Have you checked the gasket on the gas tank lid. If it’s cracked or bad, it will leak and you’ll get the ewap fault (yellow enigine light). It will not fix the boost though 😢

Yeah smoke tester or smoke pellets will be your friend - coming from a mechanical engineer, they’ve saved me a number of times with pesky leaks!

I'd recommend you check your DVs for vacuum leaks. I had the same ones from evoms and they were not holding vacuum really well. I ended up replacing with 710N a few years ago; no DV issues ever since.

As mentioned below, the 710N diverters are robust and do the job, while many (most?) of the aftermarket DV's tend to leak over time.

Your fuel filter might be going out if I'm remembering correctly off the top of my head~ Def rec changing that~ Also def rec not using those code readers the porsche one can't remember the name off the top of my head but it is the best one to use~ From those noise its not the plenum but from the y shape plug if I'm remembering correctly its connected to the plenum at the top of the plenum~

Also dunno if you used glue on it but def don't rec that looks like its from a glue gun and will melt and eventually go into the engine and mess up the engine~ Just replace that y plug and it should fix it~

It sounds like you’re in limp mode, not a boost leak. Read up on that, many things can cause it.

I checked on that. Cleared CEL with no change. Also, boost was getting lower as time went on.

Won't the boost pressure just go all the way to the heads and through the valves that'll be open?? I mean there's nothing to stop it doing that...right? Unless the throttle body is 100% air tight.
