Big psi numbers, anytime your working with any turbo lines, boots, connectors etc. The secret is strongest hairspray you can find. Slather the pipes and boots before you connect then clamp. Just one comment having chased vacuum leaks myself, zip ties don't give constant pressure on small vacuum lines, I prefer little clamps that prevent popping off of lines, otherwise you will be doing this again in a few months.

If you ever pull the motor, you can do a huge amount of vacuum hose reduction. Basically can get rid of half the hoses, solenoids, and check valves as well as the secondary air
@matt13ross Жыл бұрын
That would need some type of delete tune correct?
@flewis763 Жыл бұрын
@@matt13ross yes need to tune the secondary air codes out. You can still do a large amount of reduction and leave the secondary air in as well. I really don't know why they did a bunch of it the way they did. On my personal car, which is on a stand alone, I only have 3 vac lines. Fpr, wastegates, and diverted valves.

@davidfrank2824 Жыл бұрын
Congratulations on figuring it out. I know how difficult things like that can be. Watching all the episodes on this I think the majority of the vacuum leaks were your fault. You were putting too much pressure through the lines. Look how small they are. They were never intended to have that much pressure put through them. You will appreciate your smoke can more on engines that you can see the majority of it. It looks like you and I bought the same one except different colors. And you don't need to buy the expensive smoke from the retailer. Baby oil or mineral oil works just as well. I picked mine up from Dollar tree. Which now is a 1.25 which is still a lot cheaper than most retail stores and most definitely cheaper than the smoke that came with our machines. I'm looking forward to watching more from you. Again congratulations. I'm glad you did not take it to a dealer. It might take DIY a little longer to fix and figure out something then a dealer just look at all the money you save.
@matt13ross Жыл бұрын
The only vac leak that wasn’t my fault was probably the old cracked hoses leading to the diverter valves.
@davidfrank2824 Жыл бұрын
@@matt13ross most definitely that hose gave you problems. I could not believe how bad it was when the car was running. I love that you found a yellow replacement. Congrats, 2001 911 Turbo came with 415hp/tq so that should be quite a handful if it's all there. I remember people getting out of control with these they were so powerful. You should consider finding a garage princess on Copart and getting the entire interior, rear lights, all the good parts and putting them on yours... esp if it's your dream car... then you can get it up to insane HP/TQ if you want, that engine is a race engine with a proven track record. Check out this 850HP 996T "A 700HP Porsche 996 Turbo is a Hellcat's Worst Nightmare." New turbos and stuff to get that on race gas, 750HP on 93 octane... that's too much power. You probably know all this.
@matt13ross Жыл бұрын
Yea I don't want to ruin it's street drivability. For now, 400-450 hp is great. A tune will be around 500. Maybe in the future, larger turbos and aim for 600, but nothing crazy.

Matt, is there any way you can get the back end jacked up high enough in the garage to actually drop the motor out where you have some real working room? OE diverters and the aftermarket piston type diverters work best in opposite orientations, hence the conflicting recommendations on the internet on which way they should face.
