I think Miracle is my favorite foxtrotter Mare you have. I've never ridden a foxtrotter before. I've ridden Tennessee walkers and Peruvian Pasos and they were fun but only good for the trail. No jumping no Dressage or pleasure. Pasos don't canter or gallop under saddle. I like Oliver. There is a man on Utube who has a beautiful Shire stallion that he rides Dressage. Apollo the Shire, I like him.

Hi, just trying to get a few opinions from experts. It's a while off but in future I'm planning on moving to Nevada. What do you think about the government sponsored wild horse auctions? I have obviously taken into account that these horses are wild and unhandled. I'm asking if you have any advice or personal experience in these types of auctions. I would be attending the auctions because I wouldn't buy a horse sight unseen.

Teeth don't lie, check their teeth. Often a brand will show a horse's birth provenance, that shouldn't be a deal breaker especially if it's well bred.
@homesteadhorsemanship
@homesteadhorsemanship 2 жыл бұрын
It won’t be a deal breaker for a horse for an individual but if you are looking to resell for a profit it will limit your potential customers. As I said there is no one that will not buy a horse because it’s not branded but there are people that won’t buy one because it is branded. Especially the type that I am trying to sell. Fancy pleasure horses.

Please excuse my ignorance, but was hoping you might explain why brands are a turn off? In the English world horses are usually only branded upon acceptance into a breed registry, by the breed itself. So once the horses has passed it’s inspection, the breed registry itself will brand the foal. It’s looked at as quite a desirable thing. So obviously this is my ignorance here on other types of branding and would love some education.
@homesteadhorsemanship
@homesteadhorsemanship 2 жыл бұрын
With Missouri Foxtrotters, you rarely ever see a branded horse, especially in there show ring etc. This was a Gaited horse auction, all the horses were MFT’s or at least gaited, so to see a horse with a brand at this auction was a bit odd and a rarity. We were looking for a horse to train and someday make a trail horse/family horse, so to have a random brand on horse, and no explanation for it, doesn’t benefit us or the horse in value or meaning. We have friends with quarter horses and they do brand and it is common for the horses of their breed to be branded. Definitely doesn’t apply to all breeds etc and it is probably more of a personal opinion more then anything.
