After having already lived abroad In Germany from the USA, I can tell you that honestly the hardest thing to do/accomplish is the Visa/Citizenship process. Its takes a long time, but things such as cellphones, bank accounts and working are minor. Well I take that back, working is your next priority when getting a visa to allow you to work. I would honestly just concentrate on how much money you can go with to help support yourself while waiting for visa to legally work, then having researched what job market you intend to work in. Build some of those connections first before just getting on a plane for the first time and winging it. I had the luxury of being stationed in Germany in the military and living there for 3 years prior to me staying afterwards. I would visit 1 or even 2 times to get an idea of where you really want to be, then go from there.

Keep the name as is. Don't abandon real estate yet. Agree with guy above- show us some of the older/more spacious homes and apts. in Barranquilla. I've been here (Colombia)for years, but know nothing about Barranquilla. Educate us bro. Heck, I've been a Cartagena advocate, but now I may need to change up and look at Baranquilla. I may need to buy there instead. Besides, Angela is very nice on the eyes. Work it KG, work it. Give us more Real estate and RE tours. Plenty of time before you need to change up.

The great thing is the current exchange rates and that generally overpriced properties are coming down by 10-20%. Older articles have stated that Colombian RE prices were generally 20-30% inflated- especially in Cartagena. Good to have an honest agent and one that keeps it real, in terms of the market fluctuations. Jim

I want to throw a vote in to NOT change the name. I like it. It’s unique. If you change it to K GO you might have some search optimization issues with the music group OK GO. K Go I am all over these videos and I love your approach. I have an idea / recommendation. I think it would be great if you can do a few focus videos. So I’m looking to retire in Colombia (cartagena). Maybe you could focus a few videos for those who want to retire or move there on a budget. Then one for big spenders. One for people who want to move and continue working. Just some thoughts. The biggest thing I think videos are needed on is the money aspect of things. And then the legal aspect of things. They were mentioned in very broad terms but I hear very mixed information. I was told by a person rented from you need to build a Colombian credit history. Ultimately I have to say... I love the quality. I love the content. And you can’t imagine how jealous I am of you right now... 😋. Keep up the great work.

I've been doing research because I will be retiring soon. December 2019 I completed my Panama permanent residency back up plan to make that jump. Your blog has been informs me that I need to consider Barranquilla before I make a decision on the prior cities I been visiting. I'm at a point in my life I don't want to get too elaborate.I've have the $500,000 plus residence here in the states I would just be interested in finding something kind of basic apartment to enjoy; I stayed there enough to know that I don't really elaborate to have a comfortable lifestyle. I have a question not covered. A move to Columbia which may be a few years or more away for me, but I plan to first take a trip there to the exact area Angela works. I want to live in the countryside. To be more specific, I plan to build my own home, so I'm just interested in land only, even undeveloped land, since I would actually prefer to live off the grid. I was thinking most likely some place further inland, since I assume it would be much cheaper, and because anywhere within even a two or three-hour drive is close enough for me. Are there many properties available that fit that description? And what would be the average price per acre/hectare for both developed and undeveloped plots of land? Actually, if you want to cover the issue of living in rural Columbia in a future video, that would be of interest to me and likely many others. Thanks so much for these videos!

Pregunta : When you invest in the lower cost option to receive a three year M Visa through property investment, is that visa renewable so long as you retain the property? That is to say, with the M visa route, you loose the legal ability to work within the country, which for foreign investors / immigrants, isn´t much of a deal whereas with the higher cost (650 times min salary) R visa you gain immediate residency and work ability. I am looking to purchase property in an eventual gain of residency and second passport within the next couple year. However, I am confused at the M Visas for real estate and whether after their 3 year term can they be renewed easily so long as you retain the property. Thanks!

Hi. Yes you have to pay a yearly tax depending on the price of your house. And if you live in an apartment, you have to pay a monthly administration fee. Again, depending on building, estrato and size of your apartment

Ok, so the Alcaldia sets the fee according to the avaluo (how much the flat is worth as from the notary), also if its a commercial or residential area and other factors. So the alcaldia sets the fee its not a % as such👍🏾
