If you are planning on keeping the stock ecu I highly suggest getting it re capped as the solenoids start to leak with age, Toyota has made a statement about it but wouldnt do a recall. Youll have weird engine issues and fuelling issues so just a good precautionary thing to do because if they aren’t leaking they will soon. Great person in NZ who recaps them called soarer surgeon on dh. Beautiful car 👍

Yeh they had alot electronic wise, trying to be very ahead of there time, my mate did a full electronic strip for a drift build, only necessary wiring and got rid of just over 100kg of cables

That's why the POV pack base models are the go to. Way lighter and not every single thing on them in electric like the normal models. Been daily driving mine for 9 years now and I've never had a problem with the electronics. Bloody good cars.

Good buy for a factory manual JZ. Well done! I painted one of these at home last year, the doors clipped the front quarter panels and chipped when I opened them after closed door respray. Make sure you check the hinges and get them reconditioned before painting if they have too much play.

Best motor I have a jzx90 never had any issues with it converted to single turbo very laggy but I put that down to the turbo heaps top end thrash it every time it comes out only thing iv broken was diff but replaced with Cusco two way so reliable

Mate I think you've done yourself a bloody good cop there. I myself am also happy to say I have one of these exquisite long fellas in my shed. Albeit mine started life as an auto but nothing a day tinkering with the fellas didnt fix. Have had mine for 3 years now and love the thing. I think I snagged mine for 5k back in 2021 with a series 3 kit, and a filthy interior. So 11.5k now days for a factory manny one with a straight body is laughing IMO, good addition. As for the clutch issue - I had the EXACT same problem after I popped a fresh clutch in mine after a few years of spirited driving, Turns out the clutch disk was bent but you couldnt tell with your eye. I was able to use my pressure plate and flywheel no worries and just had to cop it on the chin and buy another new clutch disk and its been mint ever since.

From what o heard in the video, my ute has the same issue with the clutch, its an old 2003 Holden rodeo dual cab and the clutch is fucked, when the engine is off she goes into gear perfectly fine, bit when you turn her over she refuses to go into any gear, have tried bleeding it 3 times and it hasn't worked and im stumped on it rn cause we don't want to pull the gearbox off, but im thinking we might have to because I got no clue what's wrong with it XD

bloody bargain with all those spares you could make half your money back.. also the clutch issue will just be the slave cylinder sticking or sometimes the push/pull bearing gets stuck, it happens with our Cars in Ebisu after sitting through the winter for a year or two. The slave is on the outside of the box so try that first and if its not that pop the inspection covers of the R154 and just check the fork and bearing are moving when clutch is operated before pulling the whole box out.. WOULD PUT MONEY ON IT THATS THE ISSUE.. Thank me later haha
