You’re supposed to take a piece of the clay and knead it before use and continue to knead it as you go along. Also, based on the state the paint was in, you needed a wool pad with cutting compound, then a second pass with a foam pad and polish.

Ive had my 9th gen V6 Sedan Touring for three years now. Full tune I/E/H and supercharger making a comfy 420 whp. And it’s been absolutely incredible to own. My only gripe is no manual available for the sedans (If money was no object I would totally do a manual swap) but the best part is it’s so unassuming. No one expects that thing to rip until they drive it 😂 Recently put Michelin Pilot Sports on it and it’s transformed the overall feel of the car. Love my Accords

2007 Accord EX-L coupe, V6/6spd. 260k, all my miles. Same color, Nighthawk Black Pearl, which looks purple in the right light. Just had the cats go, so I had the shop replace everything with custom 2.5" exhaust with dual GReddy mufflers and deleted all the resonators. Sounds amazing, and she still gets 29-31 MPG on the highway on my road trips. Love this car, I'll never sell her.

Granted it's super satisfying, paint correction usually does suck. Can take absolutely forever to properly correct paint depending on how hard the paint is and what compound & pads you have.

Like you said, so many of the v6 manual accords are thrashed that I ended up going with an Odyssey with plans to manual swap it. One owner is a heck of an opportunity and I love these manual v6 accords and can't wait to see what you have in store!

my uncle is 2nd in charge at a buy here pay here and sometimes i run errands or get parts for him as a side job, one of the things i do is take cars to the wash and switch with a car that has been washed and detailed. I had to take a early 2000s honda accord v6 to the wash and i gotta get on the highway to get there, i got to witness v6 VTEC which was pretty fun.

I've owned two V6 Accords over the last 15 years. A 99, and an 08, both exl They are a tank of a car I've rallied, driven thousands of miles on dirt roads and trails, JUMPED the cars, all on stock suspension, and they _never_ broke. I rebuilt the entire suspension at 150-175k miles but they didn't even need it. Just preventative because I knew how hard i'd been on it. With a few bolt ons and a tune you can get pretty nasty with it for cheap. What you get for what you pay is just top tier.

Something that would help a lot would be to start with a rotary polisher with a Wool pad and a more aggressive compound as the first step, works wonders!

this gen accord is one of the best cars out there, almost 20 years on design still looks modern and relevant, drive this car enough time you form a connection with it, and everytime you turn the key on its like asking push me more would you, its very hard to explain this to non-honda people. i bet its best all round car back then for its price point

I had a 2003 v6mt Accord coupe, it was a fun car, handled well but had huge fender gap, and it was quick in a straight line. My wife had trouble with its blind spots so we sold it and bought a E36 328i. The 328i was slower but better in every other way; less NVH, better handling, more communicative, and more comfortable.

I'm far from an expert but one thing I know for sure, when you're polishing a car with a lot of "junk" in the paint like that, you want to be blowing out the pads with compressed air pretty often. Otherwise you end up kinda re-scratching the areas you just polished. My buddy had a brand new red one of these back in high school (I was a senior in 2004) and we were all so jealous of it. Sweet car man

I had one of these. If your power steering pump starts making a noise, it’s probably a 50 cent O ring you can replace easily. Can get it from Honda. Engine mounts go bad pretty commonly, again not a hard job. Other than that you got the manual so that means less issues. Fantastic buy.

I currently drive a 718 boxster. however 10 years ago and many cars in between I was driving an 03 v6 6spd accord. After driving all these bmw's, porsches my heart always beats when I come across a 6spd V6 accord. there has been nothing like it. the gearbox was just a joy to shift. every single time I got in it every gear was shifted at redline for absolutely no reason, I was broke but I never had fear of damaging anything beyond my budget. Brakes, tires, rotors, battery and an alternator. that's all I had to replace in a 3 year ownership filled by childish to the absoloute limit driving.

Kind of a cool easter egg and easy way to spot one of these unicorns: all other V6 Accords had a silver V6 emblem. Only the manual V6 coupes got the red V6 on the back. The last time I replaced Honda headlights with aftermarket, the aftermarket ones were leaking and hazy after a few months. I'd kept the originals and I was able to bring them back to like-new. Your stock headlights looked reasonably clear when you hit them with water, so they might come back with a wet sand, polish, and clear coat. I like the Meguiar's kit because it comes with big enough bottles of polish and protectant/clear coat to do a whole bunch of headlights. The sanding pads seem to last too.
