Excellent video. I'm a newer trucker and looking to go owner-op eventually with a Pete. I'm more of a car mechanic than a diesel mechanic so diesel's a bit foreign to me, so I've been trying to absorb as much information as possible so I can proactive with my rig so I don't have any nasty surprises with my Pete, or at least at a bare minimum to acts of god...loved the vid.

Just have to say you certainly hit the spots. I had a 1993 379 and later a 01 379. On the 01 another rust jack corrosion point was in underneath by the cab air bags. But on inside the steel support where it’s riveted to the framework of the bunk. Had to remove cab air bags and shocks. Lift the rear of the cab. Knock out what was left of rivets clean it and put quarter inch or three eights bolts in. Can’t recall which size. Both sides were corroded so much it was making it noticeable from the outside. The air bags were pushing out from the weight of the cab. One guy years back 1988 year model his frame cracked up in the area where the stacks come up.

I’d certainly love a 379 with a CAT motor in it, either a built 3406B or E or a C15

What’s the best engine?

@@Nofacenocase1619 I couldn’t tell ya, I’m sure you’ll have guys debating which one the best is amongst the three. The best sound I think would be a 3406B or E. Reliability wise, they’re all reputed to be reliable as far as I know. If I had to guess, I’d say maybe a 3406E for reliability because of the limited electronics, but just enough to make things run more efficiently and better than a mechanical

My old Pete at 3million 180k the frame cracked about 6 inches behind front driverside spring hanger that's one of the reason I laugh at these idiots stretching these trucks to ridiculous lengths they don't realize the extra flex it causes luck mine eas small enough to plate the frame and fix but alot of people don't notice it until it's too bad to really fix the drivers side is usually the weak point if your truck has high power and torque like mine did,my truck had zero rust.
