Buying An HPI RS4 3 Evo in 2021! 16 Year Old Nitro - Will It Run??

I finally bought my RC poster girl - the HPI RS4 3 Evo Nitro. This is a 16 year old RC and the seller doesn't know when it last ran.
Will it start?

I 100% agree. I purchased 3 old rs4 nitro's (two 18SS and one Evo) at the start of Covid 19 and have since completely rebuilt and upgraded them with latest electronics. Haven't had much time to take them out yet but eventually will once I have more time. Will add some videos as well.

Nice. I have an old RS4 2 that has been in the box in my basement for roughly 20 years that I am going to bring back to life. Been acquiring parts/hop-ups and will be videoing the process in the near future.

I’ve just picked up one of these with the m3 body. Zero use on it at all it was a shelf queen. Got all original equipment still in the original packaging unopened only thing I don’t have is the original box can’t wait to run it although gonna put a chassis protector on it first

Good purchase enjoy i had like 3 of those hpi in 2000 to 2003 now i got the t maxx monster truck nitro and a redcat desert baja 5/5 scale regular gas is a big monster but now im looking for again hpi but they discontinue i see on amazon the new nitros are DPI and electric and arrma

Just FYI how a glow plug glows on the igniter is not necessarily indicative of how it's going to glow when the engine is running. One glow plug may just have higher resistance inherently than another causing it to draw less current. When the engine is running the wire glows using a catalytic reaction so how it glows on the igniter and how it glows when the engines running arent really related.

Aww waw great Nitro this is what I raced back in 2008 I had a cool BMW m3 bidy in black for mine yeah! Nothing ever went wrong with just remember to empty the tank when your finished and having it sitting a couple of days the fuel clogged in the lines on it but just let it idea out of fuel get the air filter for it they definitely need it mine ran alot better with one there not for show on these HPI RS4 evos mine used to stall like heck without it or if the top got clogged with crap! They go through plugs like mad so grab alot! This remedied with the air filter the engine wasn't heating up as much to kill the coils! What mixture nitro you using in it? Was just but rich n idea could do with being turned down another slight turn another thing with mine if it went on its roof get to it quickly it floods it and trying to bleed it was the quickest way getting it back running but you'll pick the wee temperamental thing of it up through time I loved mine so much mine got stolen from the work shed had everything for it! They stole the lot!

I still have my viper lol it came with the 15fe motor i was wondering whats the biggest motor you can fit in it? I want to swap the motor out and make it faster i already have the 2 speed installed

just got one from ebay, has the same engine you have in this vid, but i know nothing about this engine, will it run on 25%? that fuel has between 9-11% oil according to the fuel mixers/makers.

Yes it should be ok. These engines should be ok to run on 15-25% nitro. I normally run 20% though
