In this video I buy a 96 freightliner fl70 with transmission problems. Previous owner said it needed a clutch. It turned out to be the throwout bearing was not greased and failed. Project turned into alot more once I got into it.

That's true, to a certain extent. You can screw yourself in a heartbeat trying to save money. By my math, he has close to or over $8K in this truck. You have to think long-term and be smart with your money. He already had a truck. Why not take that $8K and use it on that or even the Semi. Many times buying cheap ends up costing you more over the life of the truck/machine/whatever. And you have to look at more than just the financial cost. Time, aggravation, downtime, fuel economy, creature comforts, and safety all come into play. On the flip side of that, buying new can do the same thing. Unless you have steady work and know you can do the job with what you buy and won't need to upsize or downsize, buying new can break you. I've never bought a brand new off-the-lot truck or piece of equipment and probably never will, even if can afford it. Heavy equipment, especially semi's, lose value just looking at it. Sign your name on a loan application, down it goes. Getting in it and starting it up? Yep. More value is gone. But then, the big one- as soon as the front tires leave the asphalt of the lot and touch the road, you've just lost a couple of thousand. So, I buy used, but don't go much older than 2 or 3 years if I can.

Well done....enjoyed the video. I like the older vehicles also, even though it costs to fix all the little things, it will give miles and years of service and you don't worry about a little scratch on new paint.

Hello Jesse, your perseverance with those seized studs is brilliant, considering you are laying on the floor makes it all the more difficult. Was that truck in a very damp or road salt area, just amazed at the amount of corrosion under neath the truck, bloody hell I thought Wales was bad enough for damp and road salt. I really hope the truck runs well for you, and put it to good use. Allways like the longer videos, you have a nack of showing how the parts fit and go back together. Top Man 👍👍🍺🍺. Best wishes Geoff Lewis, Wales, UK, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A huge 'Bravo, Jesse; well done for tackling that truck. I just can't believe how every nut and bolt fought you back on that project. I have watched , and enjoyed, every single minute of that video-it was great to hear the relief in your voice as you were finishing it off. I hope she is worth all of your pain ! I hope you gave yourself a holiday after finishing it. Looking forward to part two now; I love your long videos !!

Great work! A ton of work and parts but you have a heck of a good dump truck after you're done and many, many years of service left in it.

You did one hell of a nice job on this. That's a sweet ride and worth all your time and money its going to end up being very reliable for you. How about some work on that sweet Cummins. Oil change ,fuel air and oil filters and clean out the injectors? Really enjoyed this vid, you got a new subscriber.

Awesome video! I definitely enjoyed watching you fix her up! One thing I did learn in the field is that air tools are stronger than battery tools but the best use what they got. Truly badass!

As soon as I seen all that rust I would have bailed on buying that truck but I think you guys are used to dealing with that over there. The amount of rust on that transmission is crazy. Nice work, your a hard worker.
