I looooove asian market hauls! I really miss living in San Diego and having so much access to these fun ingredients. This kinda inspires me to suck it up and make the drive to one. 😂

My 4 year old has some similar chopsticks and she loves them! We bought them when she was around 2 years old because she wanted to use mine all the time. And she loves using chopsticks! Definitely a good thing or little ones!

I love those dumplings that come in the giant bags - the green are better than the blue imo but they're both great options! Also, sincere recommendation to make bean spout soup and bean sprout rice with your soybean sprouts, so delicious. :)

An Asian market just opened up where I live and I can't wait to go see what they have! I love Korean food, so hopefully there's a good range there for that too. Also those squeezy things for toothpaste are a game changer for sore hands!!

You know, sometimes you just go to a special store and buy what you want. LOL I've always been so cost conscious and shop at multiple stores for the best prices, but since the pandemic and staying home and eating all home cooked meals, spending $142 at a store for mostly what you're eating is a mild splurge. 😉😁

Hahaha i like to see it this way too 😂

great video! Pareve is actually just pronounced parv, you don't pronounce the e's. I'm vegan and kosher and I'm always glad when vegan food has a hechsher (kosher/pareve certification). Most food that's vegan is also pareve, but everything that's pareve isn't necessarily vegan. The big thing with kosher foods is that we don't mix meat and dairy, so those are the two major categories. Pareve is a third category that can be eaten by itself or with meat or dairy if you eat those things. It's like dietary neutral in a way. Eggs and fish are also considered pareve, so if something says pareve but isn't labeled vegan, double check the ingredients to be safe.

Oh! Thanks as I was saying it I was like ah beans theres no way im saying this correctly 🙈

@@Thevietvegan and shrimp are not kosher hence kosher kimchi is also vegan:)

The things that are parve but not vegan are, as said above, eggs and kosher fish (have fins and scales), along with honey.

Great haul! I love shopping in asian supermarkets. Sadly in Germany there are only a few ones. And I can‘t get most of the fun korean stuff. We have „goasia“ as a chain here, but i assume they are a chinese chain, as a friend who is chinese said that to me. Sadly I‘m not able to find vegan fish sauce there. The one I can get in the organic store is not that tasty… sorry, I‘m a little chatty at the moment 😂

Healthy brown sugar…sounds good to me! The takoyaki pan looks great. I’ll have to look up what is “takoyaki” but, the shape looks like fun! I’d love to find those dumplings in Toronto. I’m going to hunt down a Korean grocery….there’s gotta be one in town. Great mixed haul.

I was talking about your genius idea of the “produce door” to my husband and we got into a discussion about the difference between fridge doors and I’m pretty sure we have the exact same fridge, so I was wondering if you could tell me what brand your fridge is? Lol. Is that weird? Anyway, no big deal, really. Just curious.

Baha its a frigidaire, it came with the house so I have no idea the model or anything

Yup, it’s the exact same fridge! Except ours is white and opens from the other side. Basic rental fridge. Anyway, love your videos, you’re awesome! Have a good one! 😊

I have a question about Asian markets. At my local Asian market, there is an entire aisle devoted to different kinds of dried mushrooms. I was like "sweet, I can have mushrooms any time I want because they're shelf stable!" So I bought a package of oyster mushrooms and dehydrated some over 24 hours. They were still as tough as a leather shoe. What exactly are all these different mushrooms for if you can't rehydrate them and eat them? Are they purely for soup stock? If so, why all the different varieties?
@Thevietvegan Жыл бұрын
Some mushrooms for sure can be rehydrated but some might not work so well haha. I dont think oyster mushrooms is one of those mushrooms that works well 😅
