Morgan dollars are common in BU condition despite being over 100+ years old. That's because these coins rarely circulated. Most were stored in bank vaults for several decades. Morgan dollars served as bullion to back the value of silver certificates. Most people prefer to carry silver certificates rather than the actual coin. After all Morgan dollars are bulky, heavy coins.

MrMonkeySwag96 Very good information! Yeah we are all very lucky to be able to own coins over a 100 years old that look this good.

I read that Morgan dollars well circulated out west in states like California, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii into the 1960s or 1970s and were preferred over paper dollar bills.

Buying from Ampex you will never get a key date unless they order it and you won't get ms65 coins. You will get ms60-ms62 for their BU coins.

Correct. There is nothing "random" about their random coins. They should be classified as the most common and low value that they can find that fall into whatever category.

Great Morgans, love stacking them. I have bought a few BU Morgans from Apmex, and was somewhat disappointed in the condition. I took a couple to my LCS and the owner said they weren't BU. But anyway, it is awesome to get over a century old coins in great shape.

I'm impressed...if that's APMEX ("Random BU Morgans")...I think that is impressive. Why? Bc all three (are UNC) and all three have beautiful LUSTER and EYE APPEAL. A real treat to the eyes. THAT...IS THE EXCEPTION...VS BUYING THEM ON ON-LINE AUCTIONS! Additionally, the fact that they're banged up...not an issue, as you know you're not going to get much beyond a 1 or 2 for UNC grade; nor will you get anything but common dates. Still, the fact that they have that kind of luster and eye appeal...wow! I'm really impressed. You may not realize it...but for the money paid, I think you got a superb value. Thanks for the video.

Great haul bud. I believe, looking at what's going on right now in the world, if I was a new stacker, I'd go for weight. Until I reach 500oz. Then have fun. I am gunning for Constitutional coins this year. They are being melted in larger quantities than we think. They'll go up in value. So, here in Canada, I don't have the choice you have in the US. So what I find, at a good price, I buy. BTW, whichever Morgan you buy, you can't go wrong. Who doesn't love a Morgan?? :-) Cheers
