The only reason why I'm slightly anti-school uniforms is because I grew up watching those US teen movies with the classic no uniform rule where everyone just wears casual clothing and whatnot. I always felt jealous, and while nowadays I don't really care that much compared to before, I still wanna say that I love being able to not need a school uniform anymore in my new school. edit, i am now in college, and was forced to revert back to the need for uniforms rule.

I don't think I ever had an "I-need-to-look-cool" phase, I am basically since early childhood in "I-need-to-look-unobtrusive" mode and refuse to wear T-shirts with big branding. The biggest one I have is the PUMA logo constructed out of circles, which I think has artistical value and so it doesn't bother me as much as all those flashy colours.

I first watched this video when it came out and I was in 7th grade with a "I wanna look cool phase". I would beg my parents to buy me Yeezys for my birthday or those "cool" street clothing cos that was what all the cool kids were wearing. I was bullied a lot as a kid and just wanted to fit in. Now that I have graduated high school, am 5.5 years older, and rewatching this, I realise just how stupid that phase was. It is literally just fabric and most of those "cool" clothes didn't really reflect who I really was but who I thought I needed to be to fit in. I don't care what people think of my clothes anymore, I just wanna wear the stuff I like and that I feel best expresses me. It doesn't need to be flashy or "cool" but just me. Whether that is just wearing sweatpants and the same shirt I have been wearing for 3 years straight or something more thought out. That's the beauty of self expression. And yeah, now that I pay more for my own stuff, I totally realise just how fortunate I was that my parents would buy all my clothes for me. Those stuff are expensive asf...

{4:19} I had the same incident yesterday, I had two shirts at Kohl’s. One of them was medium, and the other one was large. So I tried both of them on, and the medium it was an awesome shirt that I liked but, I was looking for the large version of the same said shirt, and I could not find it, so I was debating to myself about what shirt I want it more. In Australia we have so many different op-shops (second hand stores) and they are so easy to shop at. I think half my closet I got at some op-shop, some are hand me downs and the rest is new stuff. What really sucks is when you realise you have a certain aesthetic and your closet does not have anything in it that resembles it. Yay. Can I just say that year seven sucked? like honestly, the drama that goes on is so unnecessary it's kind of annoying. (but also really funny)

I understand what you're coming from, but at the same time the money I do save up is to buy video games and food. I mostly wore uniforms at school and when I don't it's whatever my mom told me to wear. So I didn't really have much of a choice on what I want to wear growing up and I would keep all the old clothes that I had because I thought they were in good condition, but apparently not appropriate for jobs so I had to get Business Casual clothes when I was going to Business School which again I had a limited choice on what to wear because I had to wear neutral clothing like I was at school again. Which is why I don't spend any money on clothes because it's going to be the same thing I had to wear to work regardless and it makes no difference to me.
