Thanks and in my humble opinion, for anyone shopping for a new golfcart, seriously consider the new Yamaha Drive2 QUIETECH 2-passenger. The only update needed would be replacing the factory bench seats with updated individual seats and you'll get many years of enjoyment. Additionally, don't forget about your annual maintenance to ensure a long lasting cart.

How about walking?
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 8 ай бұрын
@@John-wg1jh Well, John-wg, The Villages covers 57 (?) square miles -- AND growing (look up the new construction of the "Eastport" area) with something like 90+ (?) miles of trails/paths...so if you want to explore all of it -- as many people want to do (Yours Truly included!) -- that's an awful lot of walking. No thanks, couldn't do it at my age. As for golf-car choices, I'd also go with the brand/model johnmayer mentions above (Yamaha QuieTech EFI 2-passenger -- in Peridot Green!). Initially, I had been looking at a Club Car Onward Lifted (nice, more ground-clearance and larger tires), but Club Car's warranty/customer-care after the sale-- from what I've read posted by a number of owners -- doesn't seem to be reliable or even "caring." If those complaints are true, then Club Car is off my list. What about other brands? For me, EZ-Go isn't that interesting and Star is electric (IIRC) -- don't want anything electric (not even an EV and won't ever buy one -- my ICE Jeep is fine), and I don't want some small/obscure brand/maker -- so I'd be going gas and likely Yamaha. And although I wouldn't be going out every day -- maybe only 1-2 times per week (just as I do not with my Jeep) -- when I DO go out I'd be driving the golf-car/exploring all over those 57 square miles, especially since the ~45mpg the golf-cars get beats the ~16mpg (city) my Jeep gets. So yeah, for me a golf-car makes sense for sure. -- BR

Very nice job with the info. I might also suggest you go into greater depth with the new battery technology versus the old wet cell lead acid batteries. I converted both of my lead acid carts to lithium and absolutely love it.

Lithium Ion is an upgrade, but well worth the cost. We have Li-Ion in the star!

Great Job Mr. D , good content. Wish we could have gotten a 4 front seater, but for practical reasons, we got a 2 seater Yamaha gas. Will just have to rent a 4 seater when family and friends come to visit.

I believe I heard somewhere that any 2+2 cart will have a stiffer ride because the suspension need to support the weight of 2 extra adults in the rear. You should take note if the ride improves when those back two seats are occupied.

Our house is still under construction, but we're looking at carts. A concern is range, since the newer areas are a haul from the town squares. Another concern is battery life and cost to replace, since battery life is shortened with higher temperatures and faster charging. Car A/C, worth it or fluff? Thoughts?
@LifestyleinTheVillages

The lithium package, 210ah, in the StarEV is rated to 75 miles {ish} . We've gone 60+ and still had 2 bars left. I would not get wet cell batteries at this point. It's old technology!

Best golf car video I ever saw. Thank you so much I do have a question about the color of the seats. Do you find that the black seats in the Yamaha are hotter than the white seats in the star in the hot weather in shorts and skirts my wife and I are trying to figure out the colors we should go with. Hard decision will be permanent residence at the end of the year Village of Deluna. Scott and cathy thanks

Yes the black seats do tend to be warm when the sun hits them. We do have towels handy to throw down if the seat is too hot. The light colored seats on the Star do not seem to get hot at all. Let us know when you get here and we'll meet up at Edna's!

Nice job, Do you need to install special electrical plug in for the star in your garage, if so how much is that and how much does your home power bill go up? You also didn’t mention range battery powered cars typically don’t go as far as the gas and then what happens when the batteries lose their life, how much will it cost to replace them all?

Excellent comparison, thanks so much! We are leaning toward the Yamaha gas and our major decision points will be if we get the model with 4 forward facing seats and if we want new or reconditioned. Thanks again and we really appreciate the content.
@LifestyleinTheVillages
@LifestyleinTheVillages Жыл бұрын
We looked at that as an option, you may want to drive one first, the longer wheel base needs a wider turning radius, and is harder to park.

Did you install an electrical hook up to charge the ev? How long do you drive without recharging?
@LifestyleinTheVillages
@LifestyleinTheVillages Жыл бұрын
The SV uses a standard outlet and charges very fast. Our cart has gone about 60 miles before we recharged it. They advertise 75, but I think that would be in low going about 15mph. Not at 25mph. Typically we plug it in every night.

Should have shared info on the different types of electric carts. HUGE difference between led acid and lithium. Also the prices you are quoting in this are egregious. Get a little further from the Villages and you can get a very nice Lithium cart for half the price.

Is it more expensive to go thru a dealer/reseller on the villages property? I have no way to transport it unless i could drive it from the location purchased.
@LifestyleinTheVillages
@LifestyleinTheVillages Жыл бұрын
The short answer is Yes, if for nothing else but the sales tax. There are companies that will transport a cart for you, but typically you should be able to find a used one for sale in TV that you can drive home.

Thanks for the info we are moving in late April and trying to get all the ducks in a row. Also are there a lot of option for Maintenace if you are not to handy.
