The 6.4 wasn’t necessarily a garbage engine, Ford wanted out of a contract with navastar after the 6.0 engine. Ford started building their own engine in 2006 but had a contract until 2011 that’s why they tried to make a filler engine with the 6.4. Ford had no incentive to fix the 6.4 because they had their own engine coming into production. That’s why it has so many problems but can be fixed by people that know the real worth of the engine. It extremely buildable and can be modified with high quality parts. You could make a monster of an engine and one hell of a tow pig!
