The most important thing to look at is the node on the stem. There should be a good amount of green and white striping on the actual node that will grow. unfortunately, I didn’t see the nodes in the photographs that were shown.

Yup, definitely water propagation route first. IMO the best way is when theres only brown aerial roots, keeping it in water will soften the “brown case” of the roots and revealing the white roots or maybe it’ll grow secondary white roots out of it. After white roots come out, we can gradually “introducing” it to the air by sphagnum moss and then the soil. It may take longer, but it’s safest way. Hello from indonesia! 👋🏽

Yes, you are quite right about not choosing a plant that has too much cream because they are the ones that goes brown.Divas! So i bought one with plenty of mosaic patterning instead and its doing great. Bought from a reliable grower in the uk. They are a pleasure to grow if you get the right one i have to say. Its an exciting plant for sure!

I finally got my first albo cutting couple months ago through a trade ! It’s a top cutting and was unrooted. I put her in moss in a humidity box and she has SO many roots it’s crazy! I’ve had my Thai since early summer of 19 and he just started spitting out fenestrated leaves a couple months back! You picked a cutie 🥰 😍💚

I shopped for all the same plants on Etsy! I went with a local seller, via a friends help, work your connects. Mine was $500 but like 5 nodes and every other one was rooted. You can cut one or two up and sell them to pay for the whole plant.

I would root in perlite to avoid rot because you should not submerge the stem, or if in water get an aquarium aerator to help keep bacteria growth down, keep him in a more humid environment. Dip the root into the rooting hormone. Im personally doing this with a cutting I ordered the same day as yours.

Congrats on your albo! If you’re going to keep it in water I’d recommend getting the bonide root & grow. It’s basically a liquid rooting hormone but also has NPK. My Thai constellation did really well with it

I'm now realizing how great of a deal I got. I had help from someone I know through a FB group. I got a single leaf, 2 node cuttings, fully rooted, and including shipping for $215. I’m so glad I got it when I did. I understand that danger of getting it through FB and Etsy gives you a bit more of a safety net. Although, I did hunt for a long time to find one I could afford because I could only spend $200. I hope y’all find your wishlist plant too! Even if you have to save up or trade for it! 🪴

It produces a lot more rooting hormone than most of the other plants, so if you add some pothos cuttings to any other harder to propagete plants it basicly “help them out” with a boost of hormone.

Pls pls pls do an update! I just bought my thai constellation medium size with 4 leaves all rooted and in a pot and established yesterday for 275 from local seller. I also bought a small albo all rooted and established with 2 leaves in a pot last wk as well from another local seller for 150. I have my thai under its own grow light and my albo inside my grow cabinet terrarium to help it even more with humidity and plenty of lighting. Now is a good time to buy expensive rare plants from local sellers because holidays are coming and people dont have stable jobs so people would be willing to sell anything at a more affordable price. U shd check local facebook plant swaps and what not. That is how i found a bunch of my rarer plants including my thai and albo.

Oh my god they are so expensive in your country for just a cutting! 😱 I haven’t rooted one myself but seen lots of people recommending dipping the end of the stem in wax first so it doesn’t rot and also just putting the aerial root into the water and not the stem to again try to prevent rot. I cannot believe that these are actual prices for 1 leaf cuttings. I bought mine in August for 35 euros (roughly 42 USD) and already considered that expensive - I would never spend such a huge amount on a plant that literally only had one leaf and grows ridiculously slow. I hope it makes you happy though, they are very beautiful!

I highly recommend Liquid-dirt. It is excellent fertilizer and helps root water props quicker :) Happy Planting

I'm Always confused why the albo is so expensive in the us. I just bought an albo plant with 3 leafs and a new one coming for 80€. A single leaf cutting costs between 30-60€ in Germany and I still thinks thats to expensive 😂😅

I got one last week from a known Plantshop for 130€! Six beautiful leaves, a good and healthy root system and good variegation! I couldn't be happier! I feel like many rare houseplants are pretty alright when it comes to the prize in Germany! Otherwise I couldn't afford a lot of them lol

Hi Erika! Congrats on your new plant! Gonna be fun watching it grow! Quick question I’ve changed most my indoor plants to the mix you use (50/coco coir 30/perlite 10/orchid bark 10/worm castings. Do you use extra fertilizer for the house plants when using this mix? Or should I wait till Spring to put additional fert? 😊

I like to give them fish fertilizer, since it's slow release! You can give it to them once & then start fertilizing like normal in the spring :)

@@angel.heart007 When the soil is just watered, the smell does linger but it's very faint. As it dries, the smell does go away tho. But when you are using it, you should really do it outside because it smells suuuper bad.

If you’re willing to wait.. search for OptiFloraPlants they have an Etsy page and their own personal website even an Amazon page.. Their prices are really great -compare to other seller. It’s my secret for buying a cutting (from low, no variegation and high variegation). Right now their Etsy page is not showing any cuttings . Im thinking that they will sell more cuttings in spring. 🙏🏼 I’m a new plant mom and so far I did not have any success. The leaves did died.. (they ship the cuttings bared.. no moss or anything.. nada) so I now have wet sticks so ya I’m still trying. They are showing some growth but not much

Since they're showing some growth, I have faith! Usually a leafless node takes much longer to show progress & the leaves that come out are very small
