Excellent video! I have wanted an Albo but just cannot afford. But my hubby bought me a baby Thai fairly recently because he knew I wouldn’t buy it and so far so good. I repotted her up in PAFCAL that I added perlite and osmocote to the mix and she has put out one new leaf and has another one forming! I’m so scared of root rot from what I have studied. I have her in a clear pot so I can keep watch. I wish more people were like you and would share leaves. I asked to even buy a cutting of an albo from a local business lady who found her Albo on the side of the road. Someone had discarded it as trash! It’s so huge that it has flowered and gave fruit! I offered $200 in a moment of weakness and I guess I’m thankful she declined. But as for me, I give cuttings of more expensive plants away. I want people to enjoy them. Different strokes for different folks. Thanks for the video. Very informative.

I was going to order an expensive small stem cutting from Etsy (about 3 inches long). But the stem was all green with no variegation running through it. I actually didn’t have a good feeling about purchasing the stem because no variegation was present, and I didn’t want to end up with a regular monstera plant. I search and search for information regarding the possibility of a green stem producing variegated leaves even though the seller stated that it was cut from a full grown variegated monstera plant. I wasn’t able to find the information that I was looking for until I came across your KZbin channel. You answered my question, plus educated me on so much more! I’ve decided not to purchase the stem cutting. Thank you for this informative video. The best to you, - Allie

You mentioned moss poles, but the one at 18:00 looks like it’s made from coco coir (as opposed to the one at 19:30 which looks like sphagnum moss). In your experience, do they function the same way? I’ve noticed that roots can’t get inside the coco coir pole like they can with the moss. Does it matter? Are plants only looking to latch onto something and climb, or are they looking to insert roots into medium?

Hi again! I just love your honesty. I hadn't had plants for a while and got into them again when the lockdown started and I was amazed at the prices and the drama going on in the plant world! LOL I have loved plants since I was a toddler, (about a 100 yrs ago) so I was a little disheartened to see some of the stuff I was seeing. Oh well, humans will be humans. I do have a green monstera, but I have to admit I succumbed to the variegated craze because it's so pretty. So I bought a node, or wet stick which I am staring at daily! Do they finally sprout if you stare at them enough???? hahaha I got a good price so I don't feel too bad about it. Keep doing what you're doing, and by the way I started bottom watering my plants just a week ago and I've seen a drastic reduction in gnats already, they were getting bigger and more annoying. Thanks for that video! Very helpful! Oh and social media can be a blessing and a curse, in my humble opinion!! Good for sharing baby pics and animals, etc but bad because people can be so reactive and judgmental when they don't even know the person they are attacking, like bullies on the playground! LOL
@onlyplants4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for writing in. I hope your wet stick propagates successfully, they are quite difficult! This variegated monstera actually excited me before I got it... but now that I see it everyday, it means very little... strange how human nature is set up this way. Oh and a little advice on air layering, first of all nice to see I am not alone in trying this. I had quite good succes with this. In one instance I cut a small plastic bottle in half and used the bottom part. Then i cut it from top to bottom on one side, as well as making a hole in the centre at the bottom. Therefore I could stretch it out a little and work it around the stem. This was without a pole though. In another instance I used a plastic bag which I wrapped around the stem and air roots, tied together with cut up plastic bands (just knot them together). As soil I would fill it up with half half perlite and cocopeat, so it is a very well draining but moist retaining loose soil, easy to remove. I grow all my plants in that medium now, accept cacti, however I think I might add bark since you advise this.
@onlyplants4 жыл бұрын
I air layered my first monstera for propagation but their roots tangled up like crazy 😅 I guess have to separate each node with a pot or plastic when air layering
@TheFreak1114 жыл бұрын
