I'm a bit peeved that I missed the initial live stream. However, it looked like you and yours had a great time :) My wife and grandson and I went to the (VERY tiny) ren faire in Walla Walla last weekend. Our grandson wanted nothing to do with the "kids zone" boffo sword area. He didn't want anything to do with the bouncy castle. But he was TOTALLY into the live combat demonstration with actual steel and leather armor and live steel combat. And all three of of us were fascinated by the "real life" Tiefling.

I'm sooooooooooooo missing the Faire! Too hot and rainy this April to go to my local. You need a cutlass and flintlock pistol to go with that outfit. I bought a 100% wool tricorn from a shop in Venice. It is huge - like Commodore Norrington huge - compared to the small one Capt. Jack Sparrow wears, but I wear it with my traditional Venice Bauta Carnival outfit.

Wow, those prices are impressive. 😮 I mostly shop second hand or craft myself and obviously not counting the time (cause it is fun for me) that thankfully is much cheaper.

I've haven't been to one of these but am loving the vibe & have been wanting an olden style outfit like some of those shown here! They're so cool, fancy and awesome! Unfortunately it's been difficult to find the correct sizing for me too, it's both a blessing and curse that I fit kid-sizing since there doesn't seem to be as much of a market for it online, usually more so for adult. You def achieved your pirate outfit goal

Loved watching your experience at the Renaissance Faire. I’m old enough to remember the very first one was actually in a vacant lot at Vineland and Ventura Blvd between Studio City and Universal Studios. It was put on by KPFK radio. Im thinking 1965 or 66. If there are any other Renn Faire OG’s out there maybe they remember more. It then expanded and moved to a larger location although also more remote before it settled off Kanan Dune Road in Agoura. Thet may have been when it became a business and franchise that spread across the country and world as a matter of fact. I have been to the Irwindale event and enjoyed it immensely although I haven’t been this year yet so I’m living vicariously through your adventures.

Oh that is super cool you remember one of the first renaissance faires!! This Faire actually started in on May1, 1993. They also ran a fundraiser for KPFK-Pacifica Radio for it! I’ve also read more articles and it appears it was held in a backyard on Lookout Mountain. I’m not sure why their other articles say agoura but I will definitely correct that information for my next video. This is funny. I bought my pirate costume at the same Ren Fair back in 2000. After visiting the fairs in Kansas City, Dallas, and Houston I gave up on the costume. It was not as common in these areas..

Well, many years ago I would get catalogues for collector swords and I was very close to getting that one or the Strider sword or tempting myself that BOTH would be fine display items but the one was maybe nicer than the other if you could have only ONE to fight off zombies or whatever, BUT a pirate tradilsh carries the CUTLASS, right? Howe'er, there is one called a Shiavona that you might really find period useful for pretty aesthetics or whate'er.
