We buy an RV in our very first youtube video! Get a glimpse into the process of buying an RV, specifically from Cruise America. In this video, we travel to the Cruise America store in Everett, WA to buy a previous fleet rental, a 2015 Thor Motorcoach 30 ft. class C RV. We'll be following up with a pros/cons list of buying through Cruise America to see if it is right for you. This will be our full-time rig and home for the next several months while we start a journey of adventure and traveling the U.S.A.
If you're a first-time RVer, RV buyer, or just an RV enthusiast, subscribe to our channel to see future videos about starting and maintaining a life on the road.

I would advise anyone to ask to personally inspect the roof...ours had hundreds of dimples on roof from renters putting chairs up there, even though they are not supposed to. Though the dimples did no poke through the rubber membrane, it did break the luan plywood. We should have inspected the roof, found out too late. Also inspect shower pan for excess flex, this will eventually cause P trap in drain to leak.

Barry Frazier thanks for the info about chairs on the roof (who would have thought?) and excess flex in the shower. Very helpful comment!

Good deal!!Just remember, when you remove built in furniture and paint cabinets, walls etc..that ruins resale value..sure everyone says "Oh we are keeping it forever!" No, in a year you will be wanting a different model as most buyers first RV is not the one they keep the longest..I have bought and sold for over 20 years..I'm telling you this from a sales standpoint..Don't paint and alter the interior too much!! Anything you do, make sure it's not permanent like paint! Nothing looks more tacky than a painted RV inside! Especially a newer model! Maybe the interior is not the latest "shabby chic crap style" but they build them with schemes that will always be in style and are a base for any decor you may wish to add..In fact, at the dealer, they would not even make a trade offer on a unit that was heavily altered, had built in furniture removed etc..on the trade in question form they would ask if any built in furniture had been removed and offer accordingly! Seems some like to replace built in's with cheap, Wal-Mart recliners!! Sorry soo long but just some advice from a future sales standpoint!!
@MoorExpeditions
@MoorExpeditions 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris. This is actually very helpful. Initially, Kirstyn was planning to paint the entire interior at first, but after discussion, decided it would be best to focus on other updates first. She then was planning to do some parts of the bedroom area, but then later decided against it due to time constraints, longevity, and resale value. We had also discussed doing something with the futon/convertible couch, but again time and money are big issues there. We ended up just installing a padded futon cover that still matches the interior. Hopefully this week we'll be working on a new video with all of our updates and "living setup." We're actually really happy with how some accent pieces and organizational items really personalize the space.

@@MoorExpeditions Glad you were not offended as when I have shared this with others they did not like it! I was only trying to help from a sales standpoint...Now they do make removable wallpaper that is an option to put on a wall..then it peels right off....just make sure it does not take the existing wall covering off with it!! haha..A kitchen faux tile backsplash is pretty safe... The ones that we did take on trade would sit for months and ended up being run through the Lakeland auction...(large RV auction there)...so we started asking in the trade evaluation sheet about that..(Many trade without bringing the rig to the lot and the trade offer is contingent on the actual in person inspection)..I had a 2000 Cruise master class A 35' motorhome myself and very much wanted to take the built in dinette out and add more counter space but knew I was not keeping it long so I waited.. Some may think the higher miles are bad but to tell you the truth, it's better than a low mileage unit that has sat, rotting in a backyard!! It's much better for one to be used on a regular basis than siting...that's when problems start..I had a 97 Bounder years ago...had 9 hours on the generator..7,400 miles on the 454 Chevy engine..well when it got down ti a 1/4 tank of gas the engine would surge and stumble throwing a CEL (Check Engine Light) turns out the fuel filter was clogged and the gas tank was FULL OF RUST!!! Lesson learned!!

@@chrisreed26 great point .. late model low mileage is not always good .. as I had A 2000 Georgetown 33' V10 19K, Three weeks on the road, after trip had several issues, blown hydraulic lines. Several other issues. Fortunately I purchased at a very low price I actually sold to a dealership for close to what I had paid for it. Your advice is very sound .. even the dealer was reluctant with the low mileage and was a concern to him.

@@sgt.majorburtontruxal249 sounds like my 97 Bounder I bought in 2007..only 7400 miles!! 9 hours on the generator!! Well it was bought then it sat on a campsite for years..when I got down to quarter tank all he@# broke loose! The gas tank was rusted out and the fuel filter was clogged up from all the rust..I knew had I kept it that I would have a mess so I sold it..

Youre honestly suggesting people live with tacky interiors for the off chance they'll sell someday? You think a nice beige color scheme is tacky rather than mauve or seafoam green or floral patterns?? No thanks. I'll roll the dice and paint the whole RV white. There is literally nothing tacky about that. Im not going to live with a hideous interior just because I might sell it some day

Hi, I’m thinking about buying a 19/25 ft refurbished rv From cruise America high mileage about 120,000 miles. About $32,000. A ny suggestions for me since you rented from them 3 times? Are they reliable at 120,000 thousand miles on it? Would you recommend buy a used formal rental rv from them? Would you get the 19 or 25 ft one? How many miles on your when you rented it? Thanks!

Alex Brideau III did your RV come with the maintenance records? Also, since it came from a fleet, I am hoping that CruiseAmerica has a standard maintenance schedule which is to be followed. Every car's owner's manual comes with a service record section. I remember my Volvo had a very significant service due at 100K miles. It really set the car up for the next long period of time. What about these RVs? Any insights you can share?
