A good question is, why does an Oz platinum coin have a face value of $100 while a gold oz coin has a value of $50?
@VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM7 ай бұрын
For a long time Platinum price was a lot higher than Gold. Also Platinum is used to represent something better or higher than gold (record went Platinum, Platinum Ccard, Platinum award etc). So it makes sense it's face value is more than gold.

In Ukraine (where I’m from), platinum is more expensive then gold. It was surprise to me to find that in the US is so cheap. So, I’m a little bit on platinum side. But also has a silver. The one of the reasons, as from current experience when you have to leave everything behind, you can’t haul hundreds of pounds on yourself, plus kids, etc. So, I prefer now platinum and gold more.

The next time you purchase more platinum, consider the Perth Mint 1 oz Kangaroo platinum coin, it has one of the lowest premiums, comparing it with other Sovereign issued coins.

Although I personally find the "Kangaroo" device a bit more interesting than that of "Lady Liberty" (although both have their appeal); "cautious" U.S. coin aficionado collectors/stackers would most likely favor the America made product - as would potential LCS purchasers. I have learned with stacking timing is everything. Now is a hard time to buy gold but its a great time to have gold. Now is a bad time to hold silver but a great time to buy silver. Platinum has the best investment potential. Just due to scarcity. It should trade places with palladium in the next 2-5 years. It is the most undervalued at the moment in july 2023 closely followed by silver. Gold is the best to currently own due to the economy with uncertainty. But if I were buying NOW your better off buying 65-70 ounces of silver instead of an ounce of gold.

2 years later: Platinum at $939 and gold at $2444 . Platinum demand is mostly industrial and I'm getting some new data that it is actually 20% more common than gold at 5ppm in the crust as opposed to golds 4ppm. Not sure if that accounts for what is left after 5000 years of gold mining and we just discovered platinum in the 1800's. If anyone can clarify that would be great.

Great info. Diversity in one's stack is a good idea. It's unlikely "they" will be coming for your Pt. Pt is similar to Ag in that there is a large industrial component to it's value as you document. This may account for the volitality. Just speculating here but in a high inflation economy in which industrial output falls will it hold value? When ppl can't afford new cars they won't be buying them...and the catalytic converters. Another concern is that when considering a near shtf situation is it recognizable enough? Yes, it will be to the prepared but to others there's a learning curve. Hopefully, ppl can learn to learn fast when they must.

Electric cars are for people who DO NOT use their brains. They follow what the media and governments tell them what to do like Pavlov's dog. Electric cars limit travel, are not efficient whatsoever, are dangerous to be near, are more toxic, and enslave millions in Africa for the cobalt. Not too mention how many die in those cobalt mines. It is a pillaging of resources from Africans. Gasoline is 100 times more energy dense than the same amount of Li-ion. All these facts are not talked about to keep them secrets.
