I ordered HelloFresh and upon tracking on my delivery day it said “undeliverable” . I talked to customer service and they had no idea where my box was . They gave me a refund and I cancelled . My order showed up the following day I’m unaware of the time but when I got home from work the box was soaked from the ice melting and all my meat was thawed out and the bags on top had been soaked through with water . This wasn’t my first time ordering HelloFresh as I’m a subscription member . All precious deliveries were great and the cost versus buying groceries isn’t bad. Very simple: have coated floors and have protocols in place that your mechanics are trained on for cleaning up after a mess is made. It's just like your house: clean up messes immediately rather than waiting for later and your house will look fairly clean all of the time.

I bought a 2009 V8 S5 here in the UK for £8500 ( 10500 USD) in 2019 110000 miles fantastic condition, had it inspected, nothing needed doing, I just bought it, insured it, put fuel in it and drove it. Fantastic car, never missed a beat. Bargain of the century, half the price of a shabby RS5 but with a manual box, worth the lesser performance and lower revving engine for that manual box IMO. Put a cat back X pipe stainless exhaust on it with no mufflers or silencers, damn it was loud.

I bought one of these in 2017, its a coupe 2010 S5 with a manual and I paid 17.500 €. Upgraded it with RS5 active spoiler and bumpers, also tuned to be like an RS5. 288.000 km now!!! Invested 3000€ on repairs in 140.000 km. Its very reliable! I also have the B8 2010 S4, and that V6, while only at 99.000 km, had 5000€ worth of repairs...

@@diablocls55 Its German luxury, You should know going in that these kinds of cars are going to burn a good sized hole in your wallet at some point if you do long term ownership, or you stay the fuck away from cheap and tired versions unless you have more than enough means to unfuck it. Goes for Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen and any AMG. Relying on one of these that was bought fairly cheap as a regular use vehicle is stupid, but theres tons of young people that buy them as that for looks, then just let the maintenance slip because they cant afford to fix even little issues, let alone fix that Timing chain issues.

The b8.5 is far more reliable with the supercharged 3.0 than the older v8 in the b8 also thats not the engine from the r8 the b7 rs4 used that engine and put down 420 hp vs the 354hp in the s5

Finally a Hoovie car I can relate too! I have a Manual 2012 S5 with the 4.2 and its been pretty reliable for the last 4 years (160k km). Clutch slave and a leaky HPFP o-ring were the only things to go wrong so far. Audi does state the trans/diff are lifetime fluids so of course you should change them every 100k km but aside from higher than average parts costs and carbon cleaning the intakes ($900) its been really fun to own and cheaper than my 3 series..

Had a similar problem shifting my 97 540s when I bought it. Flushed out the old oil and replaced with Royal Purple manual transmission fluid. It has been awesome, no problems for 18 years. Not affiliated in any way, but a satisfied customer.

I also have an '09 A5 3.2 manual that I drive daily. In September, I found a clean '09 S5 4.2 manual in black and couldn't help myself. Only 60K kms and full service history from original owner. Thing is I can't bring myself to sell the dang A5, it's just that good a car! The S5 will stay there inside till spring as she is THIRSTY even when just cruising around. Best sounding car I've ever owned though and got it at a decent price 👌🏼 see if you can swipe you dad's when he's ready to let it go!

I love my s5 4.2 so far very solid car and fun to drive with a stick. For the transmission they often have slave cylinder issues and it would make the transmission grind. For the check engine a carbon cleaning/ bad injectors are common problems aswell. I Hope to see more content with this car :)

I've got A5 with 3.0 TDI with manual as my daily. I didn't go for S5 since fuel is expensive af where I live and honestly the 3.0 pulls really well too especially in car like this. And it's also really reliable - I bought it with 160k kilometers on clock and now it has 380k. It's got same wheels as yours, Arubian pearl blue color, cream leather interior (I paid one company to refurbish those seats so they look brand new) and silver front grille from RS5 (I really love how chromy and shiny it is).

I’ve have an 09 black S5 since 2016. Picked it up back then with only 32K miles for $24k. Still have it today and it’s only got 52K miles now. Easily one of the best weekend fun car for a good price cars you can get. Finding a really clean one can be difficult but they are out there.

I had my 08 S5 sorted out for 6K dollars at 120,000 miles and ever since then it’s been running smoothly with no issues. I’m at 205,550 miles and still zero complaints. I did have to do valve cover gaskets and a timing chain and clutch but that was 5 years ago and haven’t had an issues since

Curious...I am hearing some horror stories on the timing chain guides and some folks have said that in 2008 models, this plastic guide design was improved or changed and not as problematic as in previous 4.2 v8's? Thinking of buying an 08 S5 V8 6 speed manual with 95,000 on the clock, but a possible 10k job has got me apprehensive. But if 08 models are not as problematic, I might bite the bullet. Sorry for the random question, but cannot seem to get a consistent answer on this.

I have the last model year V8 (2011) with 90.000km on it, now for over two years. Haven’t had a single problem with it, engine runs beautifully and I absolutely love it. Done several mods like a proper exhaust, reverse camera, better speakers, and a new subwoofer. But what really makes it feel like a much newer car is the facelift flat bottom steering wheel, a 3D printed ashtray replacement for a wireless charger as well as a wireless CarPlay interface for the MMI system. And at least in Germany there are several sellers who you can buy selected OEM parts from, like Drive Select and Auto Hold buttons, Folding Mirrors, Garage door opener, ACC sensors, cameras etc, so if you don’t have all the options equipped you can retrofit everything. Just get yourself one before more people realize and they get more expensive like the BMWs haha

I’ve had many of these, I’ve got an b7 s4, rs4, and a b8.5 s4. All are great with high miles, modded and not driven easy. The 4.2 has never let me down, valve cover gaskets a couple times, but it sounds great and does everything I ask. Power steer lines tend to need replaced at this age. Some of these problems are nothing to repair, suspension on these is cheap and easy.

I had a similar transmission grinding problem on my 2013 S5. It turned out the self adjusting pressure plate in the clutch had failed and was not disengaging fully, resulting in a slight grind when shifting quickly.

When I was a kid my parents bought one of these, black paint with a light interior, same wheels. I was lucky enough to to go to a private school where other kids would get dropped off in Bentleys and S class's but this was the car that got the looks. It was one of the first cars with led daytime running lights and a vivid memory I have is my Dad driving down Puerto banus by the harbour and people stopping and looking at this. I think at the time it was just something different and new. This generation of a5 body will always make me smile when I see one.

The oil filter housing "leak" may just be sloppy oil changes. When you unscrew the cap holding the filter element, you need to put a towel under it and give it some time to drain the oil in filter element. Otherwise, it runs down like that. Also, I don't think that version V8 had the timing chain guide breaking issue. It was the V8 in the B6/B7 S4. I'm a former B7 S4 DTM owner and current B8 S4 owner, FWIW.

I loved that engine I had it in an 09 A8. My misfire was bad injectors due to carbon build up. The magnesium intake has multiple valves in it so I suggest servicing that while it's at the Ninjas.

Oil filter housing gasket isn't that bad. If you're doing the clutch upgrade it don't go stock, and swap the dual mass flywheel for the single mass, 100% worth it. 034 control arms kit since your bushings are gone. Strut tower mounts usually go same time too, so drop it on coils while you're at it. Once it's all done and driving proper they're such nice cars 😊

I love my A5 3.0TDI. I've had to replace the gearbox (launched it one too many times I guess) and a 2nd hand box cost nowhere near 2K to replace. Although maybe manual quattro gearboxes are rarer in the U.S.

These and the E92 3 series were designed perfectly. Very business but also sleek and refined. Such timeless designs. I’ve been thinking about buying an S4 or S5 with the 3.0 Supercharged engine, but I don’t know if I’m ready for that level of hooptie yet. I would check the CMC and slave cylinder for leaks for that notchy/grind issue and hopefully it isn’t the synchros or something. If the trans is good, honestly not a terrible bill to have that thing 100% sorted.

I’ve loved that generation of A5. It’s the reason I got into Audis. When I was little my dad bought a brand new 2010 A5 with a 3.0 Diesel (245hp) and it’s the first car I still have memories of. Picked up the car at the Audi factory which was such a cool experience. Wish my dad didn’t sell it. I’m probably gonna end up with an A5 Sportback (4 door Version) as my 2nd car for my 18th birthday this December.

@@joshuakhaos4451 i feel you, my brother has a 2001 mustang gt as his second car and its a decent fun car but the 4.6 engine LOVES ejecting spark plugs he’s had to retap every single one, other than being a little nerve racking to drive they arent terrible vehicles, you definitely should hurry and make it a secondary vehicle because i promise ford WILL let you down at some point😂 go for toyota as your main, just make sure if you’re getting a truck or an SUV its 4wd and not a rwd glorified family hauler, the cars on the other hand are some solid machines, every food delivery person i know in my city has a camry or has had one and they never quit and can handle a ton of abuse

I have a 2004...bought it for 2K, put in a clutch and flywheel myself for $650, replaced ALL 8 control arms for $200. Knew enough to get one with the timing chains already done. Still have a bunch of lights on the dash, but it sounds and hussles just as much!

i considered getting one of these a few years ago like 15k 80k miles, looked brand new, but everything was broken. a friend of mine was an audi tech at the time and was like yeah theyre sweet but you get the vw computers, wiring, and parts bin that keeps it too interesting to daily drive

Some vehicles are just not daily drivers after the warranty runs out. That or you have to play to play and just accept the repair costs to keep them in peak condition.

I felt like I was watching a video about my Audi purchased a year ago. Most of the same problems. Clutch must be mashed to the floor to shift smoothly and the lower link for the front both squeaky on bumps. I was quoted about $1000 to replace both lower links. Was your quote $600 installed? Any follow up on this car would be great. Thanks

Went from a 2014 A5 manual to an 2015 RS5 and absolutely adore it! That 4.2 in the S5 has so much potential. The RS models come with upgraded interior lighting, unless you get a lighting package. Which is the reason for the orange interior lights. However, I'm sure that v8 needs a carbon cleaning as well. Overall, great price and when properly maintained it is a comfort machine with a high revving heart. Would love to see the progress on this! 👌🏼

Old German luxury cars, are like a never ending source of content. But not a surprise they actually look affordable to maintain, comparing to some aging BEVs full of tech gimmick, that quickly become into lawn ornaments.

Lol. Old German luxury cars are not affordable to maintain. Even regular wear items, like brakes, fluids, filters and suspension components are very expensive. And that is before anything major starts to break... Many of these cars are fantastic, so I wish it was different, but you have to spend a lot of money and a lot of time in the workshop to keep everything working after the 3 year lease they were designed for.

I mean thats a lot of deferred maintenance and with issues fixed that car will probably sell in the mid teens so in reality he would most likely brake even or make money on that car. Cant say the same thing about most bmws from that era.

I just sold my 2010 S5 a couple months ago. LOVED IT! Took it from 50k miles to roughly 85k in a little over 3 years. Started having some valveline knock and timing chain issues though.

With Ninja's super drop table, pull full power train: split engine and trans replace clutch replace timing chains (while your there and at back of engine) refresh transmission with new syncro's and fix leak at the same time Address oil filter housing with engine OUT. It could also be oiling the clutch....? Now you have a well sorted Audi S5 and with new suspension and brakes should be good for another 100k km DONE!

For the headlight range control, go into the MMI settings and turn off the feature under exterior lighting that says something along the lines of “Headlight converter”. Near the bottom of the menu

I just sold an Audi V8 with a manual. It was a fantastic and fun car, but everything that breaks is expensive and everything breaks. I bought it for $15k and in 2 years spent $37k, then sold it for $16k. THAT is the way of the Audi.

@@elnyoutube123 I spent about $14k in repairs and another $6k painting and ceramic coating it. Another $2k on doodads like a head unit and LED lights. And the car still needed the timing chain guides done. It only had 100k miles on it, but it cost a lot to get there.

I had the 3.2 V6 version of this car betwee 2008 and 2012 and it was fantastic. Even 15 years later it doesn't look old at all, in dark grey it was very understated (no issue to show up at a business meeting in this car), it was quiet, more than fast enough (topped out at 168mph/270 kph on the German autobahn), surprisingly fuel efficient, had a great manual gearbox and with quattro and winter tires capable of plowing through a foot of snow. Only downside was the harsh S-line suspension. Still, best allrounder I ever had.

I had a 2008 S5 6SP Manual. It was a beautiful car, but had major birth defects. Gen 1 direct injection is a recipe for a top end teardown for decarboning the valves every 10k miles. The throwout bearing in the clutch assembly has a design flaw where it wedges itself into the clutch fingers and won't release, so the clutch pedal sticks down. This causes premature clutch failure and it requires 24 hours of shop time to replace. You have to dissemble most of the undercarriage, suspension, etc. to even get to the clutch. You will have to basically give it away as the cost to fix these items is massive. I was quoted $8k at the dealership for clutch replacement, and $5500 at an independent shop. Decarbon service is $2-3K. Just nuts!! Sorry, will finish watching now. Pre-car ninja visit comments. I bet you have much the same issues.

I have the last 2016 manual S5. Obviously no V8 but the supercharged V6 and a stage 2+ tune, sway bar and macan brakes and I have no desire to ever get rid of it. I've babied it since 9k miles and I'm getting ready to hit 70k. No other car has given me that many smiles per mile :)

I think it was the non-DI version of the V8 in the B6/B7 S4 that was known for timing assembly issues, the B7 RS4, B8 S5/RS5, and R8 engines (DI) are all a different family and don't have the timing chain issues.
