I had been in a season where I was asleep spiritually. I knew what I had to do but for some reason I felt helpless and lacked self control in certain areas. One of these videos you posted on Thursdays had such a powerful impact on me and it’s like I’m finally awake and seeking Jesus from a position of humbleness. I can’t do anything without Him. And the moment I realized I needed to seek Him like my life depends on it (it does) I started developing self control in those areas of weakness and I finally started a process of self improvement! Thank you Kim for getting out of your comfort zone and letting God use you to reach us.

My precious sister Kim. Sometimes we have to talk about the hard topics. And you are doing a great job! I feel so blessed to hear your Thoughts on Thursdays! I've been listening to your music for almost seven years now (Rooftops was the first song I heard from your team). It's great to hear your thoughts to see things from your point of view...from your experiences! I also appreciated hearing your testimony. I pray your upcoming tour is a blessing for you and your family! At least on this format, I sure see the vast majority of the comments are in a positive light in your favor. God bless you🙏✝️🙏✝️Kim Walker Smith!

Sadly, so many don't even tithe, so it doesn't surprise me that they can't comprehend giving toward the cost of bringing excellence to worship. Give honor to whom honor is due. Bring your first fruits. But so many just think they're entitled to your sacrifice. I will always be a joyful give. If you're pouring into my spirit, I have no problem pouring into your ministry.

Celebrities on tour charge to make money. The focus is on themselves. Those who tour to serve others charge to support their mission. Their focus is on serving others, not on themselves. I feel like that’s the difference. Those who value what you stand for will gladly pay the price to make it possible. I know I would. PS I want to echo the thank yous of so many others. Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit in your music and the messages you have, it God used it to bring me out of the hardest time in my life and brought me to a place where I have never been more hungry for the presence of God. It has been such a blessing, and I thank you for it 🙏

I am a 67 year old man with a young heart. I am so blessed to be a part of a group of young people that love worship music like I do. I am able to lead our worship band on Monday nights. I really get and agree with everything you are saying. You do need money for all the different aspects of a worship event. You can’t make everyone happy. There will always be poor wherever you go. As much as I love your music I will never be able to afford the ticket price to come but that’s ok. I accept the path God has laid out for me. The Scripture tells us that the poor will be with us always. Just stay in your lane girl, accept your calling, and bring the good tidings to whomever God puts in your path. God Bless

I just know it isn’t 30 minutes on a Sunday while everyone is watching and that’s it. It’s SO MUCH more! Your "thoughts on Thursday" is a wonderful "down to earth" presentation and blessing to me. As a worshipper, I too, struggle sometimes in areas I don't readily discuss, so your discussions are absolutely vital to those of us who have the SAME questions and thoughts. And yes, there are so many more nuances to "what worship is" than what you can touch on in a few minutes - and the financial issue is a big aspect for every artist. Your presentation helps me reason things through...thank you.

Kim your journey and testimony and just the fact that you were willing to share your heart about this process that you are in. These are conversations are MUCH NEEDED… the church is by and large in autopilot mode and most aren’t aware of how things work in the industry and few ask questions in areas that they think are working for them BUT when we look (REALLY LOOK) at things we see where we need to grow

Thanks for all the thoughts on Thursdays. Really great to see you talking about these topics. I used to work in a UK church and I now help produce church music in the Western Balkans, so I know how influential US church culture is globally. It's important to have people asking the tricky questions!

🙌🏽💵 What a thoughtful topic. I am up and down on this. I have no problem contributing toward any event costs. But I think about Asbury and how powerful it was to not have a loud band so that you could really hear the people. I miss that. I grew up in Baptist church singing 4 part harmony from the pews and then in the early 90’s Vineyard when worship teams started. When Brian Doerksen & co. played, we actually could still hear everybody singing in the audience. Gradually, the bands got louder, and the events became more focussed on the stage (lighting, and huge screens). Good leaders try to keep the focus on Jesus, but I do miss more of a communal, acoustic experience. I sense the aspiring personally better in quieter worship. I wonder if costs would go down significantly with a very unplugged tour 🤔😉

Thank you so much for sharing. I totally agree with you that this is a difficult topic. I am leading a worship collective and we do showcase events for our artists and this topic has come up a lot. Its very expensive to hold events and its hard because we don’t like having to charge but we may have to start doing that. We run off of donations and our own personal finances and we also allow people to do vip registration and donate if they want to. It’s definitely harder the bigger the events get. So far we have done all our events free but it is not easy for sure and in the future we may have to charge but yes also agree praying and other sources of income helps so much for sure! God makes a way!

Hey Mrs Smith, not sure if this message makes it to you...the subject matter has been on my thoughts for last 6 months. I hear of rhetoric from an unnamed very popular Australian band that performances are performances and just that. More towards secular side of things or monetary gain. I am always looking at positive hoping for the best however in this day we live, a wolf is in sheep's clothing. Your message comforts me with where your heart is.

I love listening to your Thoughts on Thursday! Thank you for sharing so openly and honestly! I appreciate there is a cost, that’s simply reality. What about instead of looking for a large sponsor, there was the opportunity for individuals like myself to chip in a bit… enough people chipping in could make a big difference. Then inviting churches who are willing to donate their buildings to contact you (I would be willing to talk to my Pastor if you decide to come to Alberta, Canada… we are just a wee bit north of your Montana), and then doing a free will offering at the event to help with other expenses. Just an idea… and even if you don’t come to my area, I would be happy to chip in towards something like this.

Good points and difficult questions to answer concerning artist, performers and musicians. We do it because we love it and want to let the world be part of what we bring. Do we sacrifice all that we are to bring the message or keep a day job and do it on the side when we can? Personally, I keep a day job. It's a huge sacrifice to be an artist and performer, but in the end it's something to be proud of when we have done it for Jesus and our Father says well done.

I understand where you’re coming from…people are willing to “pay” for tickets to secular concerts hundreds of dollars but yet we’re NOT willing to pay for a Christian concert is blatantly wrong. We need to “support our fellow brethren” and NOT expect a FREE concert all the time. Bless you for sharing your thoughts and heart and I pray Believers understand it’s a work in ministry y’all do and it cost like you said for the people, churches, and production crews. Thank you for your transparency.
@joigratny80066 ай бұрын
Something you might want to consider is to do what some other ministries do and have people who contribute a certain amount of dollars every month. And you could use that money for your tours. You’ve probably already thought of something like that, but I thought I would share my thought. You are so well liked. I don’t think you would have a problem getting some pretty decent donations that way.
@DeborahDazey-ej4eq6 ай бұрын
When I need to draw near I can always count on your worship to take me there. I will pray into this with you. We live in a world where it costs money to do anything so it is what it is. Who's to say, though, that in these end times God would show Himself mighty to provide funding for you to be able to be self sustained in the tours?
@leahkaufman60176 ай бұрын
Perhaps one of the answers could be setting up a non-profit with the goal of fundraising to establish an endowment for the sole purpose of funding world-wide worship… then there would be a board and an application process to select different worship leaders each year to different tours and there would be a consistent and growing operating budget. Kind of like being crowdfunded, but where high end donors could invest in a legacy of quality “apostolic” (being sent) worship.

I worked with Petra along time ago, and they did these crazy things where they did an ARENA tour, all the lights and smoke and huge sound and big ticket prices, THEN take some of the $$$ made and do a College Campus - small town venue tour that was 'show up, its FREE'., alot of evangelism and hundreds and hundreds of people come to Jesus.. One thing I've learned... $$$ is never a problem for GOD to provide when HE's in it...

Hi Kim. I don't know you or your music, or even if you are a part of the CCM industry, but I am a fellow church musician. I don't know if your own church pays you (my church has never paid the musicians), but when you go out to other churches or venues to share your music, you are really being a minister or missionary. As such, you should be able to expect to be funded, either by your own church (if they are sending you out), by supporters who want to share with you in your ministry (by crowdfunding or other means) or by the people you are ministering to, either by charging a "ticket fee" or "donation-at-the-door" or by asking for a free-will offering (some may give, others may not). The latter may take a lot of faith, but it gives you the freedom not to charge. I'm not sure why pastors can expect to be paid, but not church musicians/worship leaders, but there are definitely some opinions out there on this subject! Keep praying and many blessings to you!

The love of God is free. 'Freely ye have received, freely give.' 'And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who love to stand in the synagagues and the street corners that they may be seen by men but go to your room and shut the door and pray in private.' Obey Jesus.

"Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Sometimes we give, sometimes we receive. Keeping in step with the Holy Spirit always leads to beautiful places. I struggled with this topic of covering expenses with my own business of writing and illustrating. I enjoy doing what God has called me to do, and also selling the things He put on my heart to make. Sometimes it costs me more than I bring in. Still, it's fun being out there trying to sell my books and cards and I am grateful to Jesus for a supportive husband. It would be nice to make a humble living or cover my expenses, but that hasn't happened yet after 4 years. Some may not consider that success. BUT - doing what the Lord wants us to do, is. I have what God has put in my heart to share and to do and Jesus helps me to keep doing so. "He who is faithful in little, will be faithful in much." Keep sharing as Jesus gives opportunity, in the ways He provides. Thanks for sharing! And remember, "Whoever gives, receives."

I am an old feller. Saved in the late 70's. At that time I can remember a friend that worked at M music and I went to visit her at work and was surprised by the business model being pushed for all music and worship. In my opinion it was the beginning of the end. Go forward a few years and I remember the many musicians that were touring in Volkswagon busses and personal vehicles and doing concerts in cities and towns along the way across country in a park for a free will offering. The outdoor venue may not have been perfect and I frankly don't know how they were able to do it, but the love of Christ seemed to sustain them. Lots of folks met the Lord at these events. Now to today. I am frankly disappointed in churches that have larger facilities, are mortgaged to the hilt, and are having to pay close attention to their bottom line. They think for some reason that they "own" the facilities. We have become a church set up as a business; it makes me sad. We are set up for entertainment first and foremost, worship (still pondering that term) is sidelined or used to raise money by having folks gather for the entertainment of the week. I know I sound sour and cynical, but I have seen the smaller church, the home groups, the sincere deep seeking of God in the quiet place and want to see it more in the body of Christ as we gather together. Thank you so much Kim for being open to discuss these thoughts, I think they need to be pondered.

Here’s an idea: Find a small local church somewhere whom you don’t know, and reach out to them ask them if you can do a worship night during the week that they would advertise to their congregation and ONLY advertise it as a “worship night” or “night of worship” without anyones name and just show up and see what the Lord does. ❤

Two people put on separate concerts: Kim Walker and Billie Elish. They both basically have the same financial needs for all the STUFF it takes to put on a concert. Kim's is probably less expensive because it's not meant to be "showy", the focus isn't her it's Jesus. Billie's is only all about her. So why can't we wrap our minds around what Funding God's Kingdom looks like practically, and how we are not entitled to someone else's hard work? Billie's NOT going to make all her concerts free. It's not even sustainable to expect that.

I understand you Kim. Unfortunately not everyone believes that and they have that mentality that everything is handed to them. God also says a craftsman is worthy of their hire. So I think when regarding to worship and what you and your band is doing it is worthy of payment, and it all goes to Jesus. Your heart is in the right place, and I have been so touched by your worship for years and you have such a beautiful soul. Don't let these criticisms from people who don't understand this get you down. You keep going up and doing what God is showing you. This is enemy attacking you trying to make you feel guilty as you are progressing. Bind it in Jesus name. The only one you have to answer to is God, not me, not anyone on these comments. Keep going girl. I have to also say as i am typing this to you, i am in tears a little because i know what this is like ive been through sinilar situations with my church where people dont understand what goes on behind the scenes and all the effort and work it takes to do these things for God. So i am very touched by this and i understand. You are very loved. God bless you always

Why can't we as a body of believers across our nation start go fund me tour . Apostle Paul ministry was funded by God's people as He instilled in them to give, K-love has Radio broadcasting funded by donations . Just a thought. Love has a name is my inspiration. You truly are God's music box Ballerina. God Bless ❤
