As an electrician I’ve got to say they seems like a nice solution for some applications. Good call with the splicing and the pig tail on the first one. I will suggest eyeballing the space between the fixture and the ceiling from time to time, just to see if the fixture box is dropping. The box you have in the ceiling isn’t really designed to hold any type of fixture in that manner. Add that it’s a fixture in motion. ( obviously I don’t want to see someone get hurt but I’m almost thinking if it ever fell and hit a printer that would get expensive)

I live up in Canada and I installed a heat pump mini split last year in my shop (32x40) and it works awesome. Warm in the cold winter and ice cold in the summer. The only thing is it is not fast heat in the winter so I keep the temperature up all winter 20c (70f) but it uses very little power so I have no issue with keeping the shop warm all the time.

I have one above me in the kitchen for when I am cooking…..big difference in not heating up the kitchen….as I live in Florida and cooking around 4 with sun hitting the kitchen….well worth the money and easy install..I had to use the extension as I have can lights in the ceiling

Just watched your workshop build playlist... Would like to see a video on building the connection bridge between the old and new workshops. Also would be beneficial to add the videos for building the workbenches and laser tables, the infrared and garage heaters as well as the new CO laser engraver videos to the playlist.

The short extensions can also be used in older existing can lights that have sockets
@razinfishes19185 ай бұрын
I put 4 of them in our kitchen area they are recessed light so we used the extension. We wanted a full size ceiling fan but our AC unit sits right above that area. And like you I was very much surprised on how well they move the air.

I've been debating on getting a few of them for my new to me shop in Kentucky IF my wife ever gets me down there. That's one of the ugly thing about being somewhat disabled you just can't get up and go places on your own... Oh well when I get down there to my shop then I'm free to do my work or whatever... LOL. I got a few clocks to make and my HO train layout to build. WEE FUN, yes I'm 65 and still LOVE to work/play with HO train sets... LOL... Be blessed my friend in Jesus name... BBE..

I’m glad you had better luck than I did. Flies tend to congregate around my front door area in the summer , I guess because it’s cooler being totally shaded. I replaced the can light out there with one of those and although all the parts work well the fan isn’t a strong enough of a draft to discourage the flies from still buzzing around there. In fact, I feel no movement whatsoever.

Thanks for this review, I was wondering about these as I have seen them in the stores and wondered if they were any good. Now I know they are worth the investment. I am just wondering about the longevity of them, but they are not over priced so if they burn out, they are easy to replace. Thanks again.

I bought 2 of these for my shop(garage), they do ok but I don't have AC out there so it's just about circulation. Don't really use the lights. So far it was a good buy.

nice litle things, but are they reversable, blowing hot ceiling air down on you may not work so well in the summer, but good for the winter.

Those are awesome. I'll have to keep them in mind when figuring my air movement needs. My shop is long and narrow and far from the door. Plan on some sort of exhaust/pusher/exchanger setup. Shop looks great!!

Cool install on the fans by the way. I'm fixing to add a 16x16 shop onto my 10x12 work shop. We've had alot of rain the last few days so I haven't gotten my block set yet for my skin system.

If you have alot of sawdust in your shop like I do I would advise against a minisplit and look into an air handler. The saw dust can stop up your air flow in a mini split faster than an air handler system. Plus the filter size is alot bigger in the air handler systems.

they do screw into a standard socket, but he didn't have any so installed a few where outlets once were.

I’ve seen these. Thought was a gimmick but I just might get a couple for shop. Question about your recessed lights Sam, how many do can you put on one circuit? I am starting to prepare material list for kitchen remodel and we want to use this style lights and we want to use quite a bit of them.

I knew it! When you were looking directly at your new big project, you were looking at your shop cieling outlets and you were planning to installing the mini fan lights...because mini=big in some languages unknown to this planet. Might have to rethink this.

The whole idea of these things is to break up the stratified air that hangs at the ceiling and even out the temps. A good ceiling fan will last for decades. (and is dead quiet) I doubt these will last more than a few years at best.

Most people don’t have light sockets in their house or garage. Houses generally have a hard wired light fixture or a real ceiling fan. Garages generally have fluorescent or Led lights. I got one of those 3 wing little light fixtures that would work nicely in my garage but I don’t have any sockets to screw it into.
@watcherofwatchers5 ай бұрын
Guess it just depends. Every garage I have ever had had cheap light sockets - that's usually what builders install. Actual useful lighting usually gets added by a homeowner later.
@DavZell5 ай бұрын
Garages, basements, unfinished rooms, and sheds often have these sockets. Plus, many homes have can lights or eyeball lights these could be used in. Not to mention anyplace that has track lighting.
