First of all, I really enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm with the finds that make you so happy! I was watching an older video yesterday. One of your trash finds was a hair dryer in a case that had the hat and air hose . I actually had one of them. They would have been from the mid-sixty's. Underneath the cap were brush rollers, set in a perfect row,. The rollers wer held in by bobbie pins that obviously got hot from the "hot air". Oh the things we do for beauty! Keep the videos coming sweet girl.

Interesting house pick, and I saw a lot of wood on the walls which I appreciate. Concerning the flea market business, you are absolutely right: it can be fun, but it´s also a lot of work. Getting attractive merchandise, dealing with "special" customers, storing and maintaining your stuff etc. etc. Hope that you found some cool items for your collections or your inventory. Keep it up, and see you on the next one ! 👍Greets from GER, U. P.S. Can´t wait to hear Tony´s whole story about Richard Nixon. "He was the last president that..." . So, please add a "Tony Special" to this vid...😉

Nixon was the last president to win in a landslide. I have to keep a close eye on Tony as sometimes his stories are peppered with certain words not appropriate for KZbin haha. A mouth like a sailor at times :0) I should do a whole video of him using episodes of Seinfeld to compare to what we are doing or our stories that we chat about while packing things up. I've never watched Seinfeld, but thanks to Tony, I sure know what has happened in many episodes :0)

Oh I know what you are talking about selling at Flea Markets. We sell at one here in Michigan. It is so much work most people have no idea what it takes to sell items at them. You have to go out and find these things. Then you have to clean them if they are dirty. ect. research them price them pack them up. Go to Market set up. Then when day is over pack up again. Somethings sell others don't. It all i a gamble for sure. But we do enjoy the hunt. So, I do understand you when you are buying. I love your reaction when you think you find an awesome item.

Well all that stuff causes a real ITCH for shoppers like us, ITCHING to search and find those treasures! That old gun cleaning kit looks like one I have. That toy cement mixer truck would be of use on my seasonal train layout. Looks like that basement's contents was there for quite awhile...saw a few cobwebs here and there! Enjoy that cup of tea...I know I do!

The cobwebs were heavy around that cash register, guess no one tried to open that up for quite some time! I wonder if the "Basement Bar" charged its' patrons :0)
@larryboysen59115 ай бұрын
A long departed friend of mine had a collection of vintage cash registers. Two were old National registers, and were they ornate...all brass and nickel plated...big and heavy! He also had a couple of Seeburg coin pianos. His collection ended up at the famous auction house...Butterfield & Butterfield. Was that little cabin-like structure... the bar house? All that basement needed was a collection of vintage Halloween stuff, as well as a stuffed ghost!@@PaperandMoose

Well, not sure what you may take away - but Tony has some neat (and sought-after) things. Couldn't tell if the cash register was brass, but either way, they can sell for hundreds (weather notwithstanding). I saw a cast-iron fireplace grate like one we bought several years ago for $40. I think I saw at least one vintage plastic car model. The Lesney cars can bring money. You know all this already. Of course I also saw Reader's Digest condensed books, I think. I assume they are worth nothing? The MCM chair is nice too. When was the era of basement bars? My grandparents had one too but it was out of service by the time I came around in the '70s. I know of only one person who has one now - and it's in a new build. Looks like a solid pick - hope you do well. Are you going to get that (looked like) grammar school workbook you picked up in the beginning? Have a great Wednesday! Hump Day in the corporate world - I imagine you work 7 days a week! But a bad day picking is better than ...
@PaperandMoose5 ай бұрын
From the homes that I've been in, it seems that the basement bar craze was popular starting in the 70s. I was surprised there wasn't a pool table down there, but there was a ping-pong table in the room with all the newer-ish Christmas items. I know growing up that basements were a big part of the family gathering, or that's at least where my cousins and I would stay during parties. Play games, hang out, watch tv, chase each other around and try not to break anything :0) I think the basements of today are a little more high-tech and possibly less wood paneling and linoleum flooring. Those were the good old days!

I do not understand this kind of clean-out. The family should go thru all the stuff FIRST and take what they want, and THEN pay someone a flat rate to do a thorough clean out. ( No more poking around in the near dark trying to see what is there???? ) Once the family is done, the clean out crew should just come in and remove everything to a well- lit sorting area, then separate trash, junk, donations, flea market stuff , and real treasures.
@ppurgett5 ай бұрын
....well, this happened to a family member, family got what they wanted and had a clean up crew come in, all the crew did was chuck in dumpster, no sorting, recycling, donation. Just trashed everything. If we would have known then, what we know now, we would have sorted and then called the appropriate people, sometimes it's family don't have time to detail sort

Glad the mystery of the missing Santa looks like it has been solved. Tony had me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what Nixon was the last at…actually Reagan had the last landslide , in the 1980 election Carter only carried 6 states and Reagan got almost 500 electoral college votes if I remember right. So are you going have to clean all the stuff out that you don’t buy? I didn’t see much good stuff and lots of work too
@PaperandMoose5 ай бұрын
Nope, no cleanout here, thankfully. I didn’t record in the upstairs which had more larger pieces of nautical items, plus several antiques. We focused in the basement first.
