I haven't heard of any changes in procedure but the ATF's website was having problems. It was running super slow and at times not working at all. So apparently the other day they had to reset their entire system.

I just ordered my first can on the 29th. Waiting for my ffl to get it atm. Went through silencer shop and ended up choosing an AB suppressor A-10 Warthog 5.56 for my AR rifles. Might get a larger multi caliber can next for pistols and rifles. Good informative video

I purchased my first one last November 2023. Thinking it to be a good idea I put it in a trust. I received notice just last Thursday, Aug 2024 that ATF approved it. Now, I have to wait until they notify my local law enforcement agency and once they have confirmed receipt of the notice. I have to wait another 7 days before it's shipped. If I'm lucky I'll have it by Sep 1, 2024. 10 months after plopping down the purchase price. BLUF, if you want it quick don't use a trust.

@azcountry6064 there are still a lot of people waiting on there stamps from last year when if you've filled out a form 4 in the last 3 months as an individual it will probably be approved in under 2 weeks. If you file with a trust it's been 6 to 8 weeks recently. Hopefully these short lead times continue.

@azcountry6064 which state do you live in? Here in Iowa we send a notification to your local law enforcement the day of purchase so when the stamp is approved you can come in and pick it up immediately.

Now when it comes to the multi use trust. Can you go back to said trust and amend it if I end up having a kid and want to pass it down. No kids at the moment but IF a few yrs from now can someone fix that or is it cut and dry?

On my trust I can add or remove beneficiaries and trustees as I please. Any good trust setup should be amenable.

Hehe, first thing to do. Make sure you have already saved up about $1500, unless you are making a Form 1 solvent trap. Oh, and learn to reload subsonic ammo. Learn some physics so you know what velocity you need to have for your weather, humidity, altitude, and temps.

When you say "under 140dB", well under 140dB compared to what? dBA_SNR? dBA_SPL? dBd or dBi? 😂😂😂 Just "140dB" means virtually nothing on its own.

Suppressors are measured spl, for short duration one time sound events anything under 140 is considered hearing safe in the industry
